  • Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita is bringing Buenos Aires back to Manhattan for just over a week of performances, running through November 24 at New York City Center. Directed by Sammi Cannold, the production stars two Eva Peróns - Maia Reficco performing the role ages 15-20 and Solea Pfeiffer playing the Argentine First Lady ages 20-33. They’re joined in the cast by Jason Gotay as Che, Enrique Acevedo as Perón, and Philip Hernandez as Magaldi, who all belt their way through Webber's Tony-winning rock score. Check out some clips from the City Center revival and see for yourself why this is a can't-miss event.

    Loved this show, especially the opening scene, with the mourning of the nation, Che and the carnation, the ethereal Eva, and THE DRESS! What a spectacular scene!

    I'm not buying it. Thin. Who is she whispering to when she sings? If you're going to do this show, u best come correct and outshine Lupone. Just saying.

    Everybody wants to make everything sound like modern pop/R&B/faux gospel-sounding. I wouldn't mind a bit of a rock or pop sound but then u add in the modern dance moves when this is supposed to be the 1930s etc at the beginning. Come on. This is not a bad Eva voice -wise. But it's thin.

    Why doesn't Che look like Che? That's an actual person, you can't interpret the look the way you want...

      But Che isn’t actually Che Guevara... Che translates to nobody, because he’s not a real person

      @evandangel8173 Před 4 lety +17

      It depends on the interpretation of the show. Some productions have him as the Che, and some have him as just an everyday man, representing the people. Also, none of Evita is historically accurate. She and the singer whose name I'm forgetting weren't in Buenos Aires at the same time as the show says

      @@mango-rk6fb thank you. Eva and Magadi weren't in the same place at that time, and they likely never met, so nothing about Evita is historically accurate.
