- How to Hang a Hammock between Treated Posts with Support Cables. Takes 3 bags of concrete, two 6X6 8-foot treated posts, two eye bolts, 2 S hooks, 4 carabiners, two turnbuckles, cables and clamps. Easy to do if you have post-hole diggers to dig the holes.
4 feet - wow! You must have had an auger setup. The reason I didn't go deeper was because I only had post hole diggers and that was as deep as I could get. Yes - your's will be rock solid. Send us a video of how it works! Stay cool.
You may be right, but I weigh about 300 lbs, and I dug as deep as the post hole diggers would go. So far it has held like a charm and no sagging. Had I been a lighter guy I'd probably have just gone with the concrete and timbers. Thanks for the comment.
Are you sure the guy wires are really necessary with those sized timber sunk into concrete? I was thinking of doing this myself, but had not planned to use guy wires...
mark fellows It may not be necessary for you Mark. I'm just a big heavy guy (about 310 lbs) so I put them in as insurance. It probably has helped. Still no problems at all with the construction.
Thanks for the reply Tony!
Hey what type of hook did you use? Stainless steel or zinc?
Don't remember I just got the ones that were the strongest ones you could get at Lowe's hardware
how far are your post I have a 10 foot hammock thanks Kenny
Hey Kenny - when I get home I'll measure. It's been awhile since I put my hammock up and I just can't remember. It's still holding firm and steady after 4 years. We sit in it almost every day the weather allows. Will leave you my measurements later this evening. TLG
