Am I the only one watching this in 2023, born in the mid 60s, grew up with the 80s and holding back my tears because that era will never return?
This is simply epic ❤
Meeeeeemeeeeeemeeeeetoooooo😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
I was born in 1979 and this has floored me. It is stupendously wonderful and lovely.
1968 here...I miss those days.
1960 here
Many of these 1980s artists are still going strong and sound as good as they did back in the day.
Watching in 2024. Nothing compares to the 80's.
It's sooooo cool!
Hard to top the 80s.
.....well, the 60's and 70's OVERWHELMINGLY do - Nineties, TOO.....
@ogam5 The 90's was horrible for music for the most part. Rap and grunge
@@miketyler7616 : oh, but you are missing SO much, Mike; they INCLUDED The Posies, Jellyfish, The Grays, King's X, Ben Folds Five, Aimee Mann, The Tories, October Project, Rembrandts, SEAL, Dar Williams, Beth Orton, Fountains Of Wayne, Gigolo Aunts, del Amitri, Travis, Blur (2nd, 3rd, 4th albums ESPECIALLY) Jeff Buckley, Semisonic, Jason Falkner (on first J-fish album; two FANTASTIC solo records) - and SO many MORE (while I did like a LOT of so-called 'grunge'; Pearl Jam - among the EARLIEST to know of debut 'Ten', Screaming Trees, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots ALL have multiple charms, some GREAT songs.....albums I recommend checking OUT: Posies - Dear 23; Aimee Mann - Whatever, Bachelor No. 2; Stress, Momma Stud, Maggie's Dream, Cast - Alright, Toy Matinee, Enuff Z'Nuff - Strength; Extreme - III Sides To Every Story; Superstar - that Scottish band's debut; Feel - Roachford; Alanis Morrisette - Jagged Little Pill; The Ego Has Landed - Robbie Williams; Marvelous 3 - Hey Album!; Uncle Green - Book Of Bad Thoughts; Rave Ups - Chance) czcams.com/video/805uejLm4sw/video.html
When we see the world now, we realise the 80s as the last era of innocence and life quality.
Gosh I miss this kind of creativity that was made then. Today's music is not music.
It depends on what you're listening to. Every generation has good and bad musicians. Claiming what YOU like is the only really quality music is incredibly arrogant. I came of age in the 80s, and remember my parents rolling their eyes at Howard Jones, believing that the music THEY grew up with was vastly superior.
@@dublinjazz1: I think you know what I'm getting at. There's not much creatively in today's music.
Still sounds darn good !
I've listened to today's music. It's forgotten in 1yr. Songs like this is rembered 40 years later. The beatles will be remembered for the next 300 years and more.
Someone take me away from this covid nightmare and leave me in 1980s please 😊
me too please!!!!
This is a Job for the A Team!
At the lake front playing soccer in bare feet. This song playing on the beach front speakers.
Amén
Can I tag along please ?
I'm French and I've been listening to Howard Jones since day one. I have all his albums and I never get tired of them. My favorite song is "Hunger for the flesh". This show with the symphony orchestra is magnificent!
Our British stars are so down to Earth.. I love the 80's
born in 72
❤
My wife and I met Howard after his concert at the Empire Theatre in Belleville Ontario Canada. What a night, such a very nice person. Signed some CD s for us and had a photo, last thing I said to him as we left was you really still got it, your voice is exactly as it is on my cassettes and CDs I have. If you ever have the chance to see Howard do it. Hopefully you too can meet him, he really appreciates all the fans and has the time to chat with you.
A class above is Howard. A voice that wasn't messed around with back in the day and sounding like he's just stepped from 1985. Looking forward to seeing him live in 2022
He is so good. It's really interesting to watch guys age. Some have strained vocals from their sustained octave range, others you get the wear and tear from drugs, others just took care of themselves on both ends. Howard is one of them. Have been fortunate to see him multiple times at the US's largest summer music festival.
@Klemheist 100%. I don't think his has hit the level that so many others have. Love Tom Cochrane but hearing him now, yikes. Howard has well maintained. Ira Davies well maintained. It definitely changes as the vocal cords over the years but it's very noticeable for those that took care of themselves. Drugs, excessive vocal strain for prolonged tours, smoking, etc.
Voice sounds better than in 1983! And the orchestra OMG! 🥰
The power of the Orchestra takes this 80's classic to a whole level...Great vocals by Howard also 👏👏👏
extends brilliant song's to the level we know they are,,, CLASSIC
Agree and what an amazing intro, gives me goose flesh
@@annefenn2881 Me too. Excellent intro
He's miming
@@moosewestham Definitely not.
His voice is still there. Amazing track.
Yes Mate. Still like an old vine
I really think he is better now. Truly amazing.
Voice is the same
He ain't singing live
@@smdstr he's lip synching
I am GLAD I was a teenager in the 80:s truly magical! the music, the films.......
Mind-blowing performance 🙌🙌🙌
I never knew an immortal 80s could sound sooooo good with an orchestra!!! But then again, if it was Howard Jones with his hit then I wouldn’t be saying this 👏👏👏
I watch this in 2024...I'm 59 years old and this is my era.
The opening arrangement is stunning. I love it when they add strings to pop classics.
me too*
FANTASTIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCC
They took cues from the original, added some flourishes and then made an intro out of them. Masterclass in arrangement.
Yes, a great start and I remember this when it first came out and he played keyboards and sang it. From the High Wycombe area I believe and I played drums with his brother on bass at one point decades ago. Good to see him perform again. I am 67!
This guy, I mean Mr Howard Joan's is one of the totally under estimated singers of the 80s . He sounds as good even better today . Big love to this man
100% AGREE!!! A gem for sure… and way underrated.
YEAH man - he played solo in Colorado once that I indelibly caught.
Howard Jones a pure music genius. One of many in the 80's I don't care if people say I'm old I live in the fact that I grew up in the greatest music decade ever.
Goosebumps all the way through !!!! I want to go back to the 80's
May well be one of the most perfect songs ever written.
Howard's voice is amazing after all these years ❤🎤🎵
I seen him in concert yesterday what class
@@willis2492 would have loved to seen him live.
Such a great singer of all time.
@@reneecalvert4153 Go and see him when he’s on tour you will not be disappointed
@@willis2492 👍
Yesss, is really amazing 🙌🏻
Such an honour to have an orchestra playing YOUR OWN MUSIC. What a legend and what a great track.
Can we get every song backed by a full orchestra? This is the best rendition of this song hands down. Gotta love some of the musicians singing as they’re playing.
agree...this is soo cool. Best instumental intro ...fits perfect!

Beautiful man,beautiful song!!
For me, the 80's were the best!!
I love Howard Jones! He sounds fantastic! 🎤🎻💿
The 80’s was the best decade ever!
I love Howard Jones! He was my growing up teen years. The awesome 80s
OMG without looking you would think you are hearing a recorded Music from decades ago!
Then you realise this is live and decades later still ROCKIN!!!
Wow time has stopped for his voice!
I remember going to his concert, as a VERY young boy, with my best friend and parents who knew little about him. By the end of the concert my friend and I were soaked with sweat, jamming to his music, and my parents enjoyed the music so much that they bought his tapes (not records, not CDs,...tapes).
Amazing, tapes.... I remembered it.😉😄
8 track?
@@Moondoggy1941 no, cassette tapes. Look them up. Came after 8 track (smaller, held same amount of music, easier to get to a specific song) but before CDs.
J'en reviens pas d'avoir retrouvé cette chanson en live qui était la chanson de mon 1er amour en 1989.👍👍👍🇲🇫❤️
Just before Howard comes in on the vocals, the 6 beat drum drops gave me the shivers...FANTASTIC..!!
Its debatable, but if there was ever a decade to define, the 80s stands tall above the parapet..💖
Yes !!!!
60s were pretty good too
Let's forget decades and think lifetimes. They overlap.
YES, YES, YES!!
He doesn't come on any vocals he ain't singing
What I love about Howard (beside his music) is the fact he believed and trusted in himself so much. His example is simple yet powerful
Howard still sounds GREAT ! And the orchestra, what a WONDERFUL arrangement.
Stunning! tears of nostalgia rolling down my cheeks.
yep , me too
80s are matchless.
Such a talented artist! He sounds as good as he did in the 80’s 🙌🏻
4 people must've pressed dislike by mistake. Absolutely fantastic. Thank you for sharing.
Nah they're the 2000 nobs
best music and era 🤷
One of my favorite 80's songs ever.
Awesome Version of the Song! 😍The Orchestra really does a fantastic Job to support Howards Voice, which sounds still strong. The Arrangement chills me to the Bone. Wish i could have been at the Concert. 😎
Fabulous 80's I lived in a musical paradise surrounded by these bands growing up !
Several years ago, I went to an Eighties night. Which had Go West, ABC and Howard Jones. I have to say, I was never a great fan of Go West. ABC and Howard Jones, were F**king AMAZING. They took me back to being a teenager in the Eighties. Despite not hearing their songs for year. I remember singing along to every single word to an ABC and Howard Jones song!! They were AMAZING and STUNNING
insane how good a singer this old king is
Always a pleasure to sing along with you, dear Howard!
Great song, great arrangement and really great voice. Take me back to the 80’s when life was good.
This song meant so much to me. It was pre breakdown for me and carried me through that terrifying experience. These days it remains an all time favourite.
Always loved him.... Brilliant song.. Best decade the 80s
Man love this song, and pretty much anything by Howard in general ... been a huge fan since the early 80's. This version of What is Love with the orchestra is awesome! Gotta love Howard's unique style, that suit!!! I wouldn't even know where to find a suit like that but it's uber cool 😎
His suit does look amazing 🥰🤩 he just gets cooler and cooler, as does his hair! There’s only one Howard Jones!
Try the nearest old dears boutique .
Hilarious. Not.
Sweet Jesus. When this music is gone what is left?
When I die and go to heaven imma shake this man's hand
7 years I went to a Buddhist Home Meeting in the North East. 20 minutes after I was settling in and meeting people, Howard Jones walked in !!!!! As in, THIS HOWARD JONES! THE Howard jones! I was shellshocked! I knew he was a long time member of the same Buddhist school but him walking into a small house group of around 10 people was just mind blowing. Turns out he was friends with the group leader, and as he was in the North East, popped in to say hi to the group.
@@droge192 ugh wow honestly jealous, I may be a 90s baby but I grew up listening to the 80, 90, and 2000s, I listened to a lot of albums that would be considered back alley and the moment I stumbled upon Jones I was in love
Great artist and beautiful song
Great orchestra arrangement :-)
He is and will always be my hero. So down to earth and humble. Legend!
Still has his beautiful voice decades later ❤️
Just one thing : the 80's and I really mean it was the best !! There is no doubt about it!!!!
ffs the 80s 🤦♂️i miss those times 😊
That Orchestra Break down At 2:45 is eargasm !!
One of my all time favourites, he sounds fab and the orchestra is wonderful! What a song and what a performance 😊❤️
For a long time my over-the-top favourite. I was blown away as a kid by the synths sound. Still today one of the best 80s synth pop songs. He is a great musician.
One of my favorite song from the 80's and my goodness Howard is great!!
The 80's music just never dies not what era it is played in !!!!!!
80s music, the music of my youth. Love it!
Amazing voice on this man, almost 40 years later.
Great pop classic piece and you still got it HJ....Woho, woho! 😀
Wow, what a way to bring back 80's music. Nice to see Howard again in good form, love it.
Brilliant - Howard's still got it! Great performance :-)
Most impressed with his Voice, lovely arrangement!
@Howard Jone Fine and dandy thank you! Hope all things are good.
I had a moment with Howard when I saw him live in TO. We were both singing to Pearl in a Shell. He's utterly brilliant.
Wow his voice is amazing after almost 40 years
Confidence when singing is vaulted in the 80s. How incredible is this! An open book...
God his voice is still great, he sings with his soul and soul has no age... I love him, I wish I were there!!!
This version is haunting and beautiful!
Been your fan since I was 9 and now I'm 46 love you and thank you !!!!
Whoa! What a beautiful powerful version of this song. You can't beat an orchestra backup! It adds so much to a song!
Never, ever gets old!
Aww the sound of the 80s is present with the extraordinary voice of #HowardJones, the best music forever🎵👌☝️♥️
Love is all I feel, when I watch this great performance!❤️❤️🎶🎶
Howard Jones is underrated ❤
This classical orchestra makes a perfect job.
Howard rocks! This song is like a time machine, all the memories come back instantly.
can we talk about his outfit! verry stylish, i like it howard!
I was 8 when this song came out. Still crank it whenever I can. 🙂 a song of total truth to me.
We've seen him several times at EPCOT center and he was great. I remember first hearing him on Radio Caroline in '82 when I was stationed at RAF Bentwaters.
Wow 😃I’m 22 again 👌🏻😎
What is love with a classical twist, the attention to detail is on point.. even the electronic hand clap at 3.40!
Not many things which can beat nostalgia. This just did! Thank you Howard 🙏
Such a question to be asked with an elusive answer.
Remember father time is undefeated. Grab your favorite drink grab your favorite person and dance like there's no tomorrow!
Such a magnificent performance! The orchestra sounded so smooth as Howard's voice, aged really well!
I love England, and her music! Grettings from italy
Love everything that Howard has done, but this and Hide and Seek really take me back to a very good place.
I remember watching HJ for free at the Del Mar Fair.
This is the proof that us 80s teenagers can still make a big noise! I miss the 80s!
Yep! so do I! wish marty was here from back to the future
Wow. Had the honor of meeting this gentleman in the 90's when he played a more rock version of this classic. The man is magical.
He still has amazing vocals! Love him 🤩😍🥰
sadly autotune :(
