Drew's response to Christina's concern about the wealth gap is to point to "envy", implying that the problem is really just that the ballooning number of poor people in the US should stop paying attention to the 1% and work harder or something. He didn't seem to even consider the problem of "greed" and individualism. This is the core problem with the continuing myth in the US that personal wealth is solely linked to work-ethic. His recurring ideological arguments against public healthcare are similarly blinded. He consistently fails to connect the stats around poor public health and growing poverty in the US to its lack of social welfare or co-operative policies. It was weird to watch him push the conversation back to the videos before Christina could iterate further on the wealth gap in the US, which increasingly resembles a South American state like Brazil or Chile.
Yeah it's almost as though he's forgotten that he's a famous celebrity doctor whose dad was a prestigious wealthy doctor himself and has lived the epitome of a privileged life from birth. i bet he sees himself as a liberal democrat.
yes it's this underlying stance that's really starting to turn me off from this cast, shame because outside of this callous ignorant viewpoint and his selfish stance on the quarantine it is an entertaining show.
Love people making these arguments. There’s a few small percentage of wealthy people who inherited family money, they almost also burn through it and leaving little to nothing to their kids. Bezos, Buffett, Musk. All those guys are self made and deserve every dollar they have. Their wealth is not cash in a bank account, it’s shares of the companies they built, meaning, if they sold there would need to be a buyer. The jobs these companies create far outweigh the illogical idea that they should some how stop being allowed to keep more money. The idea is not to work harder but smarter. The idea is a hand up not a hand out. The idea is personal accountability. Before you critique the mythical 1% you better be working font lines with the things you think need to change. Hit your local community college and take an economics course and accounting course, see if your ideas change.

Don't have the time to go through each thing atm but you have countries run on family wealth, you have 100 year dynasties within the US as well that go on for generations today. I haven't looked into Buffett, I know he's aknowledged the wealth gap being a disaster 10 years ago though, but Bezos and Musk definitely got a leg up. Deserve is subjective, a majority is shares but they still have a great amount in liquidity, more then one could spend in multiple life times. The rest is rhetoric. None of which really matters, all you really have to look at is the growing wealth gap, a vanishing middle class, stagnant wages at the base while inflation grows, a complete failure of a health care system, and our housing crisis.
