For a vehicle that old when it came back only 4 code. That you already knew. That was a flex. I have a 05 Sierra 4wd 5.3lm7 that I KNOW has like 11 codes lol
Matt it's those little fixes that make all the difference in the world. And a truck with that many miles is going to have a lot of little fixes to do. And i love how you showed how you diagnosed the problems, that is usually the hardest part of any job. The fix is easy part. Keep up the great videos.

I just bought a 2000 Chevy Tahoe and I am learning a lot about it through your videos. I am not a mechanic so I can’t do the in-depth things that you were doing but I can fix a few things after watching your videos. Great job and I look forward to seeing more.
My power steering pump is going out in my 04 Silverado. I just deal with not having power steering at low speeds.
From my experience with my 2002 Yukon all the foam has deteriorated to the point it becomes dust my guess is that weatherstripping was made out of a type of foam and it turned into dust and just blew out the vents

You got me motivated to repair my dash and add that molded cover you talked about on my 02 Tahoe. Pulled my dash to replace the ambient sensor and ended up cracking it on the drivers side. Figured I’d fix the crack, add that foam and install a molded dash pad over it. Might wait to see how you do it first lol. Great vid!
I so feel your pain on the dash pad. I've got an 02 Yukon with same issue. You definitely have more patience than I ever have had. Good luck with Tahiti, mine just crossed the 450 k mark.

I have a 2000 Tahoe with 85000 ordinal millage on it and live in NY state too. Your videos are great as it has helped me with mine whit some of the same problems. I have to do my strong arms also. I try to replace all my parts OEM. Truck runs great and no major problems with it yet. Thanks for your videos.
Well Matt from seeing your frustration on taking out the dash and putting back in, I will just leave mine the way it is with out the actuator door not working,temperature gauge being wonking, power seat issues on the passenger side etc.. My 04 Tahoe now has 208 thousand kilometres on the odometer now.
Matt, go back to one of the previous videos. I recommended a scanner to you that I picked up and it scans every module in the truck. It scanned tons in my suburban including the front and rear HVAC and radio and all that. With discounts I got it for 187 at advance. WELL worth it. Also, do you have the stock radio from your truck still by chance?

if you need the stock radio, you should call Model Electronics in Ramsey NJ, you can get a refurb unit for a decent price. they have the contract with Delphi to refurb these gauge clusters and radios, their facility is pretty crazy
Matt, you did have access to modules in that unit. I saw it just before you selected the real time data... Also, you can use baking soda to instantly cure CA and it will make the bond stronger. Just sprinkle some dry baking soda on the wet CA.
Good to know with the baking soda thanks. I’ll have to take another look at the scanner, thats awesome if it can pull bcm codes too.

Plastic weld or plastic bond from jb weld, for the dash pad tabs, Works great!

Unbolt the whole dash and unbolt the entire hvac box from the firewall (inside and under hood). You’ll have to evacuate the freon from the a/c system though and drain a little coolant. That way you can see everything very easily, do this mod if need be or all hvac motors, pop open the plastic rivets and even replace the heater core and a/c evaporator.

Push button is automatic transfer case. If you’re not shifting it manually with a lever, it’s an automatic transfer case

Don’t know if it’s different on my 2004 Yukon xl. But it was my blend door actuator. Which was located under the passenger dash to your left right between the bash and the center hump.
The blend door would be for the temperature. Mine was for the recirculation door.

I just realized I sound exactly like you putting shit together. Except I'm talking to myself. Lol.
Recirc is always the actuator. There's a few of them on these rigs with the auto digi hvac. Literally don't have to take much of anything apart, all accessible via under the dash. I fix them on every truck I get, last tahoe, burb before that, lade... current Escalade EXT needs a recirc actuator will be doing it soon... Takes like 5 min.

These modules are only about $20 on Amazon. I would just order a new one. My old one had damage on the circuitboard when I took it apart. Thanks for the videos!

There was a module selection in your scanner. I bet if you clicked it you would have found bcm srs tpms Oem enhanced. But I will say my scanner with those options has never detected much for the hvac.
Tahoe hvac is always almost either a hvac fuse pull procedure OR the plastic gear inside the blen door is cracked and jump off track. Open the blen door up and look inside it
There is a procedure, to “calibrate” the actuators. I have done it on an 02 and it worked. What it does, is it cycles the actuators to their full range and it records that position as start/stop to account for new actuator or wear on the door seals.
Check out the video before this, I tried it before changing the actuator. Unfortunately it didn’t fix the problem.
Matt I have an 02 Suburban and I noticed your brake fluid reservoir appears to be bigger or an updated version of sorts. Did you previously install a different master cylinder? I just did an 07 upgrade with calipers, rotors and pads only to be let down with the marginal increase in braking power. I’ve been searching to see if changing the MC would grab any gains

Matt. On my 05. I put a brand new module and resistor. Having issue where blower motor just turns off or lowest setting randomly new blower motor same thing. Could it be a bad resistor out of box?
Try 90s Honda plastic. Took the gauge clusters off my 93 prelude and some of the plastic and tabs would break right off just by touching it.
that dash cover is always a pain in the balls, when my friend and i installed the factory nav radio, we had to pull the dash for the antenna, getting it in is 100% a two person job, one asshole stands outside and makes sure it lines up and the other shoves it
I just 3m double sided taped my factory GM Nav antenna to one of the ducts behind the radio - has been working well for the last 10 years.
@@jewllake if you're using the factory antenna, the one with the board on the metal bracket, you're supposed to ground it to the dash frame above the radio right underneath the dash cover. bolts right in with one of those 7mm. sounds like you might not have a factory antenna
@@andrewmattera6205 it's the factory one with the bracket and it has the contours to bolt to the metal angle tin brace up by the windshield. I just stuck it to the duct and I has always worked great for me. I bought it straight from the gm dealer.

Ok Matt. If it ends up being the recirc door is moving too far for its pre determine program there is a updat from gm to recalibrate the control head to allow for the ware in the foam. I have a 2005 suburban that was dooing exactly the same thing. I did some research and found a tsb for the problem and did an update via gm tds at work and the problem all fixed. Wife is extatic now. If you do buy a brand new control head it will most likely fix the issue. The new control head should have the updated programing already in it.

So how can I get my door to go to recirculation with out taking my dash apart and getting to the actuator? Assuming it's good. All I need is to get my door to go to recirculation and from their I can figure out how to stop it from over traveling.
I figured it out! Key to run control head removed on the blue plug and the yellow low reference wire AKA ground. Apply ground to that wire and the door will swing to recirculation to allow you to add more weather stripping.

I’ve got a 2001 Yukon with 340k miles - original power steering pump and original fluid. That OE pump will probably last you a while longer haha.

Fiberglass reinforcement on your dashboard should work to make it stronger and last a lot longer
I have a 2000 Silverado Z71.
Recently when I turn it off, take the key out, open and shut the door. After the interior lights go off, the bright light indicator and the cruise indicator on the cluster come on and stay on. They stay on until you open the door. If you shut it again, same thing will happen. Nothing is malfunctioning at all otherwise. Idk. 🤷

So Matt question, you couldn’t just replace the door actuator? I got lost in what you were actually doing? Did you reset the motor or is the door moving too much? And thank for the video, my Tahoe is definitely showing its age as well…
The motor is moving to far and causing a fault shutting down the dash button.

2002 tahoe has been the best and worst vehicle I've ever owned. Only the cost to replace it with a large, comfortable, and comfortable 4x4 keeps me pouring more money into it than it's worth. I've yet to fix the blend door issue which sends all the heat thru the defroster vents which I suspect cracked my cold windshield.
Fiberglass the top panel, paint it, and it will last forever.
Any insulation or weather stripping could potentially be removed by mice for their nests. That could be why you see no evidence of degradation... maybe???
Dude they make Hi-temp epoxy paint. Buuuut not sure it's in the color you need.

Hangin in there buddy. Me too. Im convinced that my 05' Yukon i paid for last February was destined to be mine. Im sure thankful for all the compliments i get on a weekly basis. Original price i paid was $4400.00 usd. Without fuel costs im somewhere around 5-6k into her . 1 month of ownership was 2 k tranny rebuild. Im thankfull to GOD 1ST! and 2nd for the TRUMP administration that started that process for me. The Biden admin. will try to steal that credit at some point im sure of it.
