Then one day people began lying and said what I sold them wasn't correct and ebay white knighted for them so quickly and got them a refund without even asking me. If anything, its THE BUYERS on ebay who make it hard for honest sellers to be on the site, cause it is way easier to rip off a seller than it is to rip off a buyer.
I've got an eBay horror story for you. Once, I was trying to purchase a Batman DVD and as soon as I agreed to purchase it, the seller messaged me saying that he doesn't accept PayPal (even though PayPal was listed as a payment option) and wanted me to continue the transaction outside of eBay. So I messaged him back saying that it was violating eBay's Terms of Services and he must either cancel the order or I will report him to eBay. And you know what he said to me? He said: "I don't accept paypal. Report whatever you want, stupid." So not only was he attempting to violate eBay's Terms of Services, but he was being a total assh*le to me about it. So after a bit of arguing with him, I finally called eBay and they took the immediate corrective action and now, he is no longer a registered user. BTW, for those curious, I did eventually get the DVD from somewhere else and at a much better price.
Christopher Malone well that's good. I learned to interrogate the hell out of a buyer on eBay. I would buy anything unless they answered by questions and I am ok with the answer. Most times the seller if fine with that. If they get mad over simple questions I am like ok I will take my service elsewhere

The 3GS is the only iPhone I've ever used as my daily driver and it was great. I will use phones until they die and sadly the 3GS went when the housing around the power button pretty much shattered and the button itself became unusable. I knew at that point, given that if the phone ever got turned off somehow I'd never get it on again, that it was time to move on. Since then I've had a variety of Android phones and I'm currently on a Galaxy S7 that I got second hand for £330 middle of last year. However I'll always remember that iPhone 3GS very fondly indeed.

ebay is pretty safe tbh. you just buy from reliable sellers by looking at their rating plus with ebay money back guarantee its pretty simple to get your money back if you do get scammed. been scammed twice but got my money back both times with little effort

The iPhone 3GS was sold from 2009 to 2012 (when the iPhone 5 was released, they discontinued the 3GS) so it could come with iOS 5 and iCloud, but in this case the box should show an iCloud logo in the bottom (like the 4S one) and show the iOS 5 homescreen on the front... Another detail that you didn't pointed out is that your box is showing iOS 4.X homescreen (that we can recognize with the iPod icon in the dock, the utilities folder and the icon arrangement... so in your case it shouldn't have iCloud because of iOS 4, and there shouldn't be the setup screen either !)

They did produce iPhone 3GS's after 2009, they made them till 2012 so, they did ship versions with iCloud. The orignal iPhone 3GS from 2009 came with iOS 3 the one you unboxed would be a version from 2012.

Well, you kind of bought an idea, a dream, the thought that you had a 3GS that was factory sealed. Then you opened it and killed your dream, realized that it was in amazing condition but still it was not what you thought you were getting. I'm sure a some people out there have their priceless original iPhones sealed and they take super good care of it but for all they know inside all they have is a piece of wood that weighs exactly what it should. I agree all of your suspects, but one thing. The iCloud was released on 2011, but the version you have was one that was sold on 2011. Apple sold iPhone 3GS in 2011 with iOS 5 upgrade.

The 3GS is the only iPhone I've ever used as my daily driver and it was great. I will use phones until they die and sadly the 3GS went when the housing around the power button pretty much shattered and the button itself became unusable.
I knew at that point, given that if the phone ever got turned off somehow I'd never get it on again, that it was time to move on. Since then I've had a variety of Android phones and I'm currently on a Galaxy S7 that I got second hand for £330 middle of last year.
However I'll always remember that iPhone 3GS very fondly indeed.

The iPhone 3GS was sold from 2009 to 2012 (when the iPhone 5 was released, they discontinued the 3GS) so it could come with iOS 5 and iCloud, but in this case the box should show an iCloud logo in the bottom (like the 4S one) and show the iOS 5 homescreen on the front...
Another detail that you didn't pointed out is that your box is showing iOS 4.X homescreen (that we can recognize with the iPod icon in the dock, the utilities folder and the icon arrangement... so in your case it shouldn't have iCloud because of iOS 4, and there shouldn't be the setup screen either !)

They did produce iPhone 3GS's after 2009, they made them till 2012 so, they did ship versions with iCloud. The orignal iPhone 3GS from 2009 came with iOS 3 the one you unboxed would be a version from 2012.

Well, you kind of bought an idea, a dream, the thought that you had a 3GS that was factory sealed. Then you opened it and killed your dream, realized that it was in amazing condition but still it was not what you thought you were getting. Then you were left with what is basically a worthless iPhone 3GS. Had it been exactly what you wanted, you would have opened it anyway and then you'd still be left with a worthless iPhone 3GS.
I'm sure a some people out there have their priceless original iPhones sealed and they take super good care of it but for all they know inside all they have is a piece of wood that weighs exactly what it should. I don't know, I find collecting stuff like that to be kind of silly because again if you never open it, how the hek are you supposed to know what you have?
