How I fixed repaired my Akai MPC 2000 brown burnt original LCD screen by replacing polarizer film

- I am the original owner since brand new.
My screen has had the burnt appearance for about three years.
Since I had visibility at an angle, I didn’t attempt to repair or replace it.
Finally I got tired of reading the screen at an angle. So I was about to buy one of those brand new aftermarket blue screens from mpcstuff. But according to their website, their screens have a glitch for all 8 output-installed MPC 2000 “classic” models (not 2000XL models).
Since my MPC 2000 “classic” has the 8 outputs, I decided to repair the burnt screen by replacing the polarizer film.
Tools used for repair:
Goo Gone (adhesive remover)
Blade (to separate polarizer film from LCD and to scrape away burnt “glue” adhesive.
Rubbing alcohol to clean off all adhesive residue (after successfully removing all old adhesive)
Brand new high temperature polarizer film off eBay (amazon, etc) for less that $10
This job took no longer than 40 minutes:
2 minutes disassembly
35 minutes of scraping away old adhesive
5 seconds for polarizer film installation
2 minutes reassembly
What type of glue did you use to apply the new polarizer screen?
I need this answer too and where I can get the polarisation film?
@@orientmob Go on eBay and do a search for "adhesive lcd polarizing film." There should be at least 100 listings. You may need high temperature LCD film, depending on how hot your MPC gets. But I used the regular film. I have not had any problems.
Flawless tutorial! Just did mine. Cost $11 at Amazon for the film and 45min time on my day off while I watched a movie. Saved $170. Right on!

Thanks for this. Saved myself a very expensive repair. I used 99% alcohol for the cleaning. Ordered a new polarized film and it looks great! Cost me less than $7.00 dollars.
I've just done this today june 9th 2024, using wd40 with precaution, and in 5 minutes I got it all set up and a screen like new!!

Oh! and my polarizer film I got from amazon let me choose between classic yellow and blue depending how I positioned it. I chose blue, more contrast overall

Fixed my 2000xl! But I also got a couple of white lines, not sure what went wrong. I'd suggest to better use some plastic tool instead of the razor blade ;) Thanks for the tip!

Good vid, def gonna give this a try. Did you apply a “polarizer film”? If so where did you get that?
Did you end up trying it? Mine is having the same issue and I'm deciding if it's worth the risk of messing up the ribbon cable and getting lines like that. Also I think i'd try using hand sanitizer to rub away the glue instead of scraping. Any insight would be dope!
@@Throwboy If you f^^% up the wires, you can easily repair them by recreating the wire connections with a metallic conductive substance or sending the ribbon wires to a shop. Both are cheaper than buying that bs expensive af mpcstuff aftermarket screen
I imagine using a plastic spudger instead of a razor blade will reduce the risk of scratching the screen. You seem to have pulled it off though.
Great video. Can anybody comment, is there anything special about the film is it like the gameboy one?
So far from what I have seen the film is pretty universal. In some cases (depending on the film) when you spin the film and or rotate it you get a different effect like the numbers showing up black rather than white or vice versa.

hi,,,a question,, its the same procedure on 2000xl?
yea its the same display. ive done this on several displays and it works everytime. just use 99%alcohol to loosen the crystallized glue until you get to the screen. dont mind using your nails thats actually the fasted method since theres so many layers to get through. ur gonna have to apply alcohol a good 20 times
