I rode on one of these a couple of times (probably the exact same one) as a kid between 1984 & 1987. This makes me homesick for Slovakia.

So you're telling me the Americans are just *THAT* anti-innovation that they'd rather burn diesel for the Washington State Ferry System...
      Not surprising at all.

These boats also sailed between Amsterdam and Ijmuiden. They were sold to St. Petrersburg.

These would be great for an Annapolis, Maryland to Baltimore to Rock Hall route as a first step in establishing a Washington State type ferry system for the Chesapeake Bay as part of a Marine Transit Oriented Development (MTOD) strategy for the Bay watershed - no more big roads highways & bridges in sensitive ecological areas. Build densely along historic town (pedestrian friendly) typologies like an Annapolis & Chestertown models.

Saw a thumbnail of this about a month ago but the video never talked about it. Super cool to now see what it is. From what the other comment talks about, I assume this is Russia

I am pleased that you like the video. The boat sails between Vienna (Austria) and Bratislava (Slovakia).
