Throughout MJ The Musical I was in pain from how loud the show was, which has never happened to me before. Honestly, it was awful and totally marred the entire experience, despite the good things about the show. And it's too bad - I never enjoy saying negative things about a show!
But it's really not okay to have a show be that loud. Has anyone else gone through something similar in that show or another?

The number of people who comment on this video *still* who seem personally offended - sometimes to the point of attack - because of my personal experience is very verrrrry interesting.

it's supposed to give the "concert feel" since the entire show takes place during his concert rehearsals.

I'm sensitive to loud noises and when I saw it, the volume wasn't too loud. It was just the right amount. I only saw one guy cover his ears and that was from my screaming next to him

Never had this at a musical but I’m from London and MJ in the West End is not different to any other show sound wise. I do get this with films in the cinema though. Literally any Christopher Nolan film. I had to walk out of Dunkirk because it was physically painful.

I’m sure you know about their Tony win for best sound design, I think it’s amazing. You feel the music rather than look at it. And going to the point of hearing damage I think is to the extreme. It’s a Broadway show, not going to cause permanent hearing loss because of the Thriller horns!

We had the same problem with Tina at the Pantages in Hollywood. It was early in the run and the house needed to correct the sound. At the same theater we recently saw MJ and the sound was good. The show was in house enough that if there was an issue with sound, it had time to be corrected. As for Tina...my husband was going to leave at the intermission but they were able to provide him with earplugs. (My husband has done sound and lighting for shows so he knows what he's talking about)

Well, as he did state, it is... "HIS" experience!
Sometimes, people do these videos just to help others. Which, he clearly did! Some folks have thanked him for the heads up! I myself, am very grateful!! I'm going to take my mother, who also has sound sensitivity, but she loves Michael Jackson. Now, because of this Vid, I will bring earplugs for her so she can still enjoy the music and not be uncomfortable!
    THANK U 4 the HEADS UP!!!❤
PS He also CLEARLY said, this was "NOT A REVIEW". However, it is an important observation & warning that is helpful.

I was in the low-mid center of the mezz and can only really speak to that seat. However - I will say - that since I posted this video it seems that the volume has been much better at the show. Might still be worth bringing ear plugs just in case!

oh wow. As someone who has to cover their ears or wear earplugs to every musical (including my high school musicals), maybe I should reconsider my plan to see this musical. If it’s too loud even for the general population then there’s a good chance that I wouldn’t survive this.

Funny because when I went (second out of three times🤣), i thought it wasn’t loud enough and that there were a lot of distracting white noise (not sure if it was from a vent or something) and commotion… Maybe people complained and then the volume levels skyrocketed lol

i saw MJ a few days ago. i’m also neurodivergent and due to my heightened senses i also have to cover my ears sometimes. but when i went to see the show i had absolutely no issues with it and nobody around me seemed to either. i was also very close to the stage. so my guess is that something was wrong with the mics and/or speaker system because i didn’t have this experience at all and according to the other comments no one else did either. but i am sorry about that
