      i had 8 super keys, since A and D are already CKs they both cant be put in one relation hence the 8

      @@GloriaGordon-Mensah-to1bg there are no rules like that. You can clear your doubt by considering the fact that AD being together can still uniquely identify a tuple so AD is, by definition, a super key. The correct answer is still 12.

    The concept of keys deeply stuck in my mind. Here is my answer for the question at the end of this video.
    A, AB, AC, AD, ABC, ABD, ACD, ABCD, D, DB, DC, DBC total 12 Super Keys in the relation R(A,B,C,D) given A & D are the Candidate Keys.

      Cause, the given information is that only {A} and {D} are C.K(candidate key).
      All the candidate keys are superkeys, and other attributes considered to be alternate or secondary keys.
      So, BC does not have neither of the C.Keys so it is not a superkey.

      you can use that formula when each and every individual attribute can act as a super key. In other words, each attribute can uniquely identify each record/tuple of the relation.

    How each attribute individually defines the row? If it's not defining individually, then it's not super key. So there will be not 31max. superkeys available.
