your reaction to the dumb amount of buffs ainz did before attack made a lot of sense. ainz vs sharlteer is the equivalent of a player vs a world boss. so all those buffs made 100% sense.
btw that eye that was in sharlteer's armor at the end was from aura's tamed pets. thats why she said shorty at the end when she was dying. thats the nickname she uses to tease aura.
he baited all her skills and abilities which is obvious after watching both episodes but einherijar the white version of her is equal to her in power but without skills or magic tho, so he waited until she used it then killed everything but she was saved with a resurrection item.

The Goal of all Life is Death is a hidden skill that gets unlocked in the Eclipse Class. In order to obtain it you need to be level 5 in the Eclipse Class. Its a Necromancy category and only meant for the true lords of death. So being level 5, you've mastered the category and you are considered a true Death Lord+ rewarded with this hidden skill. What it does is, it delays death effects for 12 seconds, and after the 12 seconds are over it strengthens death spells to the point it will kill ANYTHING and even bypass immunity. The only thing that can save you is a resurrection item within that 12 seconds. This skill has a 100 hour cooldown.
Ainz triggered it in battle by using:
- Skill, the Goal of all Life is Death (strengthens death spells to the point it will kill anything and bypass immunity after 12 seconds)
- Widen Magic (Increase the area of the next spell is my guess)
- Cry of the Banshee (the death spell he used in conjuction with an increased range and instant kill effect due to ''Widen Magic'' and ''Skill, the Goal of all Life is Death'')
This is what happened I think, and I dont read the novel. But he killed everything in a 200 meter radius by doing this combo on Shalltear. It's a one-shot kill skill.
Ainz waited for the moment she used all of her skills and biggest abilities so he can clear the path and move on to Round 2. If he used it before all of Shalltears trump cards etc etc, it could get ugly for him and he probably would have lost badly. Also keep in mind Shalltear can be considered a ''Raid Boss'' where usually 20 players need to fight her in order to beat her. So Ainz pulling this off on his own is highly impressive to say the least.
To expand, the spell he used killed EVERYTHING in that radius, including the ground and air around them. That's why the landscape changed around them after it finished.
the skill only makes any insta death spell work 100% even against those with immunity to death effects.
the large area of effect was because he used "cry of the banshee" which is an aoe death spell together with "widen magic" which increases the area of effect of an aoe spell to its limit.

KingDaniel Maliro Right. The skill basically lets your instant death spell kill things that can’t be killed. The AIR around them “died”. Everything in range is basically gone.
Shalltear is only raid boss level on her floor with the floor defenses activated. Without the floor defenses of their respective floors, the floor guardians are equivalent to any other level 100 player who shared their same levels and skills and equipment. They are still more powerful than most players, mostly because Ains Ool Gown was a fairly OP guild and had a ton of info on the game (which was essential in Yggdrasil since the most OP race and class combinations were secret and the info was hoarded religiously by those who knew it) and of course had amassed a pretty insane amount of powerful equipment.

The eye that was behind Shalltear back in the bit of the fight was a skill of intimidation cast by Aura so that Shalltear would feel a hostile nearby (other than Ainz) and that make her stop her attack: if Shalltear succeeded her close range attack she would interrupt and cancel Ainz's spell (Ainz's casted the same spell that took a lot of time to cast but used a cash shop item to shorten the time)

@MUNCH IEZ no, sadly this and a quite a few other details are skipped through the 3 seasons, but in the light novel everything is thoroughly explained. I do highly recommend reading the novels, you get a more in-depth and more interesting experience, some foreshadowing and lots of details as to why what and how.

Ains used a skill called "The Goal of All Life, is Death." This skill is used to buff the spell "Cry of the banshee", making it an instant kill to everything in its range. (shalltear included, but as she states, she is ressurected by an item she was given by her creator, Perrenchino.) (Shoutout to xDaRKWoLFZ for the correction edits.)
To emphasize how insane this fight was. Shalltear is a floor guardian, which in this world is *basically* a raid boss. Usually encountered by many players (of Ainz's strength) at a time. She's that strong. The super tier magic spell he casts, "Fallen Down", is a spell that is stupidly powerful, but takes a long time to cast. She eats 2 of them. Plus she eats his Instant K.O. skill. If Ainz hadn't planned perfectly against her, he would have lost this in the worst way. (credit to the comments, thanks for learnin' me)

No, she is not a raid boss.
Raid boss is a boss that takes 5 parties (aka a raid/30 people) to defeat, and their victory isn't even guaranteed. It's literally impossible for one person to defeat a raid boss.
And no, another player wouldn't die instantly by Fallen Down, where the fuck did you take this from (unless you mean a random person from the New World or a low level).
The goal of all life, is death isn't an instakill. It buffs his death type skills to be instakill. Cry of the banshee is the skill that killed all of shalltears summons and even herself.
@@sharkbaiter678 yeah, I forgot to correct this mistake too. But it's easier to say it's a skill that buffs the instant death spell to the point where instant death protection measures doesn't work, nothing more.
And it would be nice to say that it killed everything, even the air, the ground, the trees, LITERALLY EVERYTHING in the range of the spell. That's why it became a desert.

@@oopsen5855 Still wrong. She won't kill them all, just hold them and make them expend resources and MP. A raid boss is supposed to have a absurd amount of HP, damage, resistance, etc. It can't be solo killed by players by any means, even World Champions, people who could easily kill Shalltear.
Hell, in prologue Ainz got literally half of his HP burned by ONE SINGLE HIT by a monster that was not even a raid boss...

He basically killed everything in the area that is desert like now, the skill basically removes all resistance to death magic to the point where he can insta kill things that don’t even have a concept of death. One of the LN readers will probably post the quote that gives the perfect explanation to what happened.
Also the eye watching was one of the twins stopping her attack, basically Ainz hesitated to kill her and left an opening for her to attack so one of the twins used a taunt spell to stop her at the last moment.
Ainz's usual style is to summon undead servants to have them fight for him. If they win, fine. If they don't, he gains information about the skills of his enemy.
But he can't do that because Shalltear's Pipette Lance is a life steal weapon. More targets to attack = her HP will always stay high. Also, the Pipette Lance deals bludgeoning damage, which skeleton undead are weak against.
Also, Shalltear is a cleric, *and* a valkyrie, classes that give her holy magic, which undead are super weak against, and melee capabilities, whereas Ainz fights exclusively with magic, so even if Shalltear runs out of MP, she can fall back on physical combat which Ainz is weak in. Also she has a lot of skills and spells to regain health or undo damage, and combining that with her life steal weapon, taking her HP down at all is *hard.*
On paper, Shalltear has a *massive* advantage. Her creator, Peroroncino made her nigh impossible to defeat in a one on one fight. Especially against undead magic casters.

"The Goal of All Life is Death" makes his instant death skills able to kill literally everything. Things that do not live are immune to instant death moves like "Cry of the banshee". For example Golems, stones, air, undeads (Shaltear) are immune. When Ains used "The Goal of All Life is death" with widen magic "Cry of the banshe" combo everything died. That is why in range of spell there was sand only. Air was dead too... if after his cast any living creature would get in that area it would die, because air was dead:)
The clock on his back is one of weak points of the skill. In pvp he would be easily targetet before spell takes effect. Also not many players knew about this skill existing because it required a full devotion to necromancy/overlord stuff which was not optimized for pvp or pve more like evil role play.
I belive that is more or less how it was explained in novel, it definitly was more epic :)
Ains was waiting for Shaltear to summon her "golem" to kill everything with this move from the start. He cancelled her trump card with his trump card.

Demiurge probably has one of the most responsibility among the floor guardians btw. During season 1, Demiurge was outside kidnapping people from the new world from some place in the south east of the map, which is pretty far away from Nazarick, in order to replenish the stock of scrolls, and other stuff, in Nazarick without using up resources from Yggdrasil.

The eye that you see in the last few seconds of the fight was actually Aura's skill, that is why you see her puffing a smoke right before she tells mare that Ainz won, and why Shalltear said "Shorty" (referring to aura) as she died.
He essentially used a very class specific one shot skill that he can use once a day then another that gave it a wider range to effectively one shot every living thing which is why there's sand the dirt died but she had a rare resurrection item
TGOALID can only be used once every 100 hours.

The eyes behind Shaltear is the skill of Aura, while watching far from there Ainz is hesitant for killing Shaltear in the last minute and Aura use her skill for distraction, after seeing Aura skill, at that points Ainz without hesitation to killing her, after Shaltear know her sis always watching, "shorty" is what Shaltear calls Aura in EP1-2

When Ainz uses Fallen down the second time he hesitates because he doesnt know if he can revive Shalltear and Aura uses a skill to distract Shalltear from killing Ainz. That was the freaky eyeball that appeared behind her. Also Shalltear didnt understand what it was until she said shorty. Which was refering to Aura.

"The goal of all life is death" as an insanely speciallized skill that is only available with a full insta kill necromancer build that Ainz very specifically acquired for role play purposes. It is obtained with the class "Eclipse" that is suppose to be the highest class for a necromancer speciallized on insta kill spells.
It works as a buff to Insta kill spells, normaly an insta kill spell would only fully affect lower level enemies, in a PvP they would only deal damage like any other spell would, however "The goal of all life is death" allows any Insta kill spell to surpas any racial or class protections and actually insta kill an enemy. In this case, Ainz applied "The goal of all life is death" buff to the insta kill spell "Cry of the banshee", it is an AoE spell that insta kills everything it reaches and even increased his reach instead of it's damage since it will insta kill anything either way.
I hope they to watch the next season. Thing only pick up from here!!!

The skill called:The goal of all life is death, is a skill that will prevent any life giving spell or protection of being cast, and will amplify all instant death spells. Cry of the banshee is an instant death spell that augments the range of all instant death spells of a 100 meters. So basically this combination allows him to kill everything alive in a 100 meters radius. This unique skill has a cooldown that lasts days tho, so he can only cast it in the toughest fights.

The funny thing is Ainz’s build is meant for RP purposes, his mana is broken beyond the standard threshold even when he was in Ydrasil, and as seen in this episode, a tactical genius as seen when he pretended not to know everything and his important bluffs (making her think the battlefield was littered with air mines, keeping her to the ground AND when he pulled her creator’s bow on her, making her think he could swap between them all infinitely and thus conforming her to close combat)
I actually like the fact he would have lost without the distraction from Aura. He hesitated to kill Shalltear and didn’t break the item in time. It was only cause Shalltear was caught off guard and froze.
Always love y'alls chemistry, and especially on this series. Overlord is such a gem.

The goal of all life is death is a spell discovered almost solely by Ainz due to The extremely specific settings path to get it. It is an ability that boosts any of Ainz's instakill magic like grasp heart, or cry of the banshee, boosting their ability to unbelievable heights and making them able to kill just about anything in one shot. In the light novel it is even described as killing the air they breathed making it stale and rotten and turning the dirt into sand. It kills anything and everything. It is essentially a thanos snap.

Momonga/Ainz is an overlord eclipse he specializes in death magic the skill "The Goal of All Life is Death" is like his apex level 100 talent and it killed everything except him it killed the trees, the microbes, hell it even killed Shalltear and the golem enheriahar only shalltear had a self resurrection ability which is why she isnt "dead"

The Skill "The Goal of All Life, is Death." and the scream was of the banshee any that are in range of hearing the scream or fail to cover they ears to block out the sound Die. NO saving no coming back It's over unless you can resurrect. Great reaction loved it. The basic gear was to thrown off Shalltear give her an over confidence. To expose her skills and use them up instead of saving them to the end.
"The goal of all life is death", that skill increase 100% chance to activated instant death. Then Ainz used "Cry of banshee" magic, give debuff of instant death. So, in that battle Ainz give that to everything even area become desert.

there was noone watching, Ainz was hesitant to use the item, because he was not sure reviving would work. For him it would have been a decision like "Choose which one of your kids will die or all will die"so it took him a bit, so aura used her skill(some sort of primal mind trick) to buy Ainz some time
He moved time forward by a considerable amount causing everything to age rapidly which cancels the skills via time limit. While aging Shalltear rapidly and without blood a vampire shrivels up because they use the blood of the living to renew her own to keep hers from drying up.
Andrew Jones The skill’s only time based effect is that it delays the next instant death spells effect for 12 seconds, while giving it the ability to bypass all immunity. This is what created the desert because the skill gave him the ability to kill the ground beneath their feet, its only counter is that if you use a resurrection item on yourself during those 12 seconds you bypass the spells effects.

To be clear, Shalltear and the rest of the floor guardians are only raid boss level when they’re in their specialized floors with the floor defenses activated. The floors they guard are designed to supplement their abilities and move sets and debuff and damage any enemies on their floors. Outside of their floors, or with the floor defenses deactivated (as they are now since they’re expensive to keep up), the floor guardians are just level 100 characters. But level 100 characters in Yggdrasil varied widely in power due to different classes/skills/job levels/race traits and of course equipment. Shalltear is the strongest one on one fighter in Nazarick since she was designed and geared for that purpose (besides Rubedo who was supposed to be stronger than Touch Me, who was himself one of the strongest players in all of Yggdrasil, earning the title World Champion). She was min maxed for that purpose, and her floor enhancements let her make constant guerilla and ambush attacks on any raid groups trying to get through her three floors, picking them off one by one as she healed. Momonga didn’t min max and instead went for a more versatile magic build. Instead of specializing, he became more of a jack of all trades, trading in pure power for versatility. Most level 100 mages could learn, iirc, around 300 spells, but with Dark Wisdom Momonga learned over 700 spells. As a pvp player, he was pretty good (maybe high middle tier of pvp players while Touch Me was among the top of the top tier), but only because he understood game mechanics and skills and magic and how they interacted so well. He needed extremely good scouting information to win his pvp matches so he could figure out which spells to use to counter his enemies, and thus he would often lose his first match against people and often have to run, but would win subsequent matches once he learned what they could do and he could plan against it.
Most of this was from memory from watching the Aninews channel who has some excellent breakdown videos about the various systems and characters of Yggdrasil and Overlord.

The reason Ainz was concerned about Shalltear is because, combat skill wise, Shalltear is the strongest fighter build hands down. Ainz has a build that was set up based purely on roleplay, playing an absolute master of death. While he is extremely strong, he was one of the weakest players when it came to straight up pvp in the guild. The reason he wins here though, is because he learned a ton about battle strategy as the leader of Nazarick. He knows the way to overcome his weakness is through superior planning, which you saw.
If i remember correctly he often just to lose the first fight bit wpuld dominate in a second with intel gathered from the first.
Yep, Momonga went for versatility instead of power. He took a Dark Wisdom skill which let him learn 700+ spells instead of the 300 or so most players maxed out at. He memorized all those spells and knows how they interact with each other, so he is pretty much an information fiend of Yggdrasil. Like Scott said, he’d often lose his first pvp match with people, but once he learned what skills/spells/abilities they had, he would often win subsequent fights as he used the scouted info to determine which spells/gear he should use to counter their build.
the eye was aura making shalltear hesitate. interfering with the duel since shalltear was about to win since ainz hesitated to kill her which provided an opening. if she had hit him she would have regened enough to survive and ainz would be on the losing end of the pure melee fight.
