- Goo Goo Dolls performing Cuz You're Gone live at The Metro! The Goo Goo Dolls were formed in Buffalo, NY, in 1985 by guitarist/vocalist Johnny Rzeznik, bassist Robby Takac, and drummer George Tutuska, initially under the name the Sex Maggots. Originally a cover band with a taste for power pop and classic rock & roll, the group soon began writing its own songs. Their early sound recalled the Replacements’ origins as a bratty punk band - melodic, snotty, and a little bit thrashy. That sound was the reason the band attracted the interest of the heavy metal label Metal Blade, which issued their debut album in 1987 (known either as The Goo Goo Dolls or First Release). Released in 1989, Jed continued in a similar vein; the college radio breakthrough came with 1990′s Hold Me Up.
Check out the lyrics to Cuz You're Gone:
You whispered in my mouth
And I spit you words right back
How good do you think I'll look
When the words start to break and crack?
You beat your head upon your wall
You disconnect yourself from it all
Cuz you know that you're so beautiful and so untouchable
And I want to get in so bad, and I don't know how
No, I don't know how
Cuz you're gone, and you ain't coming back
Yeah you're gone, and you ain't coming back
You held your hand so close
And I just can't push you away
I wished you could be my girl
But you're stuck in a grown up world
You beat your head upon your wall
You disconnect yourself from it all
Cuz you know that you're so beautiful and so untouchable
And I want to get in so bad, and I don't know how
No I don't know how
Cuz you're gone, and you ain't coming back
Yeah you're gone, and you ain't coming back
You beat your head upon your wall
You disconnect yourself from it all
Cuz you know that you're so beautiful and so untouchable
And I want to get in so bad, and I don't know how
And I don't know how
Cuz you're gone, and you ain't coming back
Yeah you're gone, and you ain't coming back
Yeah you're gone, and I wish you'd come back

This is awesome! What a treat to see. I was only 8 back in '93 but as an adult I love this era of Goo Goo Dolls. What an awesome band.
One of my FAVORITE Goo songs!!! The good ole days!!!💞💋💞

Favorite Goos song since i was 16 in 1993
The quality of these videos is unreal! One of the best eras of goo
One of their best
Daymn...I had forgotten how good the GGDs were...and what an absolutely killer song this is. The guitar riff is just so great. Only got to see them live twice. But once was opening for the Replacements on that ill-fated last tour before they imploded...thanks for this share, wonderful stuff.
they didnt implode
I wish I could’ve seen that tour there’s literally no footage 😢
Great footage! Without question, "Superstar Car Wash" is an underrated album.
one of the greatest of the decade
God he was so young. Look at his face work now. Wtf. He was beautiful ❤️
He probably can’t let that go
He doesn't seem to be the type to have work like that done to his face. Who knows where vanity will rear it's ugly head, though? I know for awhile there he gained considerable weight. Plus some age gracefully and some don't.......Just.life I guess
@@sdc7823 I love him but it's super obvious he's had plastic surgery
I LOVE THIS ERA
Best band EVER ❤️
Amazing sound!!Especially for the time.Love Robby the bassplayer!
This is such a killer
my fav song from this album 💖
Love.
Fucking Beautiful! Thank you! Who the fuck is the bouncer in front??
Wish they kept making this type of music
We all do
Love
Goo Goo Dolls probably could have stayed one of the top 3 bands in the world if George didn’t get the boot.
I think it’s a shame that George doesn’t get much credit for this album, when in fact a lot of the songwriting was down to him!
Personally I think their last great album was Gutterflower however some think Dizzy or even ABNG (my favourite GGD album). It seems to me they dropped the "Alternativeness" completely in 2010's Something for the rest of us (fine album) I have heard the start of Boxes and it sounds terrible and whether I will ever complete it is a question I ask myself.
I heard Chaos In Bloom is a return to their Alternative sound,so maybe I will check it out.
Personally SCW-Dizzy is perhaps the greatest 90's three album run!
@@maxconstar7731 I did not like Dizzy Up The Girl But Hold me up, SSCW and ABNG was three straight flawless albums. Even the first two were great.
@@michaeladams5636 fair fair ABNG is in my top 5 90s albums
@@maxconstar7731 What are your other four favourites?
Back when Goo Goo Dolls had electric guitars in their music.
Is that Mick Foley on Security?
Was this concert in Buffalo? Its fantastic.
Chicago
It’s great!
