Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of around four octaves +. When listening to Floor sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres, and is a Master vocal coach. She often refers to herself as a vocal nerd. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. There is no right or wrong when reacting to Nightwish unless there was a particular video requested. They have a 25yr treasure trove of music and it´s very rewarding to experience the evolution of Nightwish. I first fell in love with Nightwish with Floor as lead but during the past year I have very much enjoyed both Anette and Tarja as well. Tuomas Holopainen on keys is a real mastermind, composing the most amazing music and deep beautiful lyrics. It really blows my mind. I really hope you continue this journey!

This is one of 15 songs in this Wacken 2013 concert. Floor had been with the band for 10 months at this point. Every song in this set is excellent. Every song will be your next favorite. The band members are on a mental high because they almost had to cancel their world tour in 2012, but Floor agreed to fill in for the rest of the tour. She had 48 hours to learn the setlist... and she nailed it. Smiles all the way around. When a band is happy, the crowd sees that and they are happy. Tarja was great. Anette was great. Floor has taken it to another level.

Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song. Here are some examples:

Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor joined Nightwish after this Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor Jansen is awesome. This entire Wacken 2013 concert it is absolute Gold! Check out her performances on Beste Zangers - pick any one they are all outstanding- Check out her song with former Band Revamp - Disdain at Graspop. The woman can growl and then go right back to operatic vocals. Wait ! the bass player - Marco Heitala is an amazing vocalist. Try " Romanticide" from the Wacken 2013 or "The Islander" from Tampere to get a taste of that. The drummer Jukka - hits really hard. The keyboarder Tuomos writes 90% of the music and he is obviously gifted poet and composer. The entire band is fastastic. Check them out - you wont regret it.

There's nothing wrong with reacting to either Floor or Tarja, different voices, both have amazing live performances you can react to. Floor being more flexible vocally and Tarja having a more operatic sounding voice overall.
A bit of trivia. Floor Jansen met Hannes Van Dal at the Iced Earth tour - Apr. 04, 2014 - Grand Rapids, MI - The Intersection. She was with her band Revamp and Hannes was with Sabaton. After the show they met for the first time. They had a whiskey and Floor offered to share a cigar with him. They also found that they both liked Pantera.
Hannes in an interview said, “Here comes this opera singer who likes Pantera, smokes cigars and drinks whiskey. Like what the fuck is going on? I need to marry this woman and so I did”. 😄🤘 m.czcams.com/video/Hl9INVeS0VY/video.html

Nightwish at Wacken in 2013 was "stars-aligned" moment in their career, so it's funny when someone recommended probably the worst song in that concert :)
