Burt was wearing his hat and sunglasses when he was eaten by the Graboid. The fact that his hat and sunglasses were on the ground on the cliff in perfect condition and not at ground level destroyed suggests Burt somehow managed to survive.

I feel like he used his knife on the same gland used in the previous movie (where his son extracted the stuff to save Burts life) to basically make it puke him up before it landed.
That or this was just the worst choice the franchise made and it was just bad writing.
My thoughts exactly, even if he was killed then the glasses would have been destroyed or busted up and the hat and glasses would have been slimmed like after he got eaten and rescued in 3 which neither were
If you look closely at 2:43 you can see his hat fly out at the bottom right

I just watched this movie last night on Tubi. I was shocked that Burt allowed himself to be eaten by that Grabboid. But, Burt definitely went out in a blaze of glory on his terms. Via Con Dois, Burt!!! Thanks for making the “Tremors” franchise one of the longest Sci-Fi franchises of all time. And Michael Gross, where ever you are, nobody could have played the role of Burt Gummer better than you. Thanks.
This is the way he would have wanted to go. Let's be real Burt would have been mad sitting in a hospital room letting old age do him in. One last battle is the way warriors leave this world. And Burt, if nothing else, was a warrior!

Honestly, Burt Gummer's death in this movie was the same sad feeling that Tony Stark felt when he sacrificed himself in Avengers: Endgame...The sacrifice of a hero who grew up with us for a long time...Thank you for giving us all great memories and great series Burt Gummer and Michael Gross😢😢
They should've had cameos of previous characters finding out that Burt Gummer had died. RIP Fred Ward (Earl).

It was a worthy death! And a satisfying ending to this great series of movies (and I don't see those very often). Don't get me wrong - these films are with me since I was little and I want nothing more than to see another one - but if it was to be the end, it was magnificent. The greatest hunter is eaten by final form of ancient apex predator, while killing it and flipping it off in the process :). It was his destiny and he knew it well.

All I AM hoping for now, is that Holy Crapwood, after the boycott is done and dusted, won't try to remake/ reboot this great franchise.
They could only dragg it down, like they did with every other good franchise or character.
And let's face it, in THIS day and age, Burt Gummer would neither be the legend he was in all the movies, and he pobably wouldn't be be portrayed as favorable as he was all those years.

This is also a call back to the first movie. When they were stuck on the rocks, he told Heather he would walk out, one of his bombs in hand lit, and let them take him.
That's a lot of rocks for a hat and pair of sunglasses
I wish for this movie they Had Heather, Valentine, and Earl return to see his grave in the end, it would've made the perfect ending.

If you notice at the end it looks like the arms of Burts' sunglasses are folded inward. As if he folded them up, placed them on the ground, and walked away. Burt will be back.
I never understood why you'd want to kill off Burt Gummer, he's one of the OG's of the series.......if there is another Tremors, you better hire some serious writers and figure out how to bring Burt back

What has always been a bit of a trip for me is that I grew up with Michael Gross as Mr. Keaton so always kinda saw Burt as a new identity Mr. Keaton adopted after a messy divorce that left him jaded and done with city life.

I love the Tremors franchise but the first 3 movies were the best hands down!! The fourth movie would have been awesome if all the actors from all first 3 movies who survived returned.

Honestly, if somehow they make a sequel, it’s almost within the logic of this franchise that Burt survived. It would only serve to make him more of a bad ass. 😂

Tremors franchise has been the most steady work that Michael Gross has had since he’s time on Family Ties. But as people get older they can’t do as much action wise anymore in films especially when they are close 76 years old like he is.
