    In this video, let's explore the economic problems Bangladesh is facing today and some deep reasons behind the same. In Bangladesh people are protesting against the rising fuel prices. After Sri Lanka and Pakistan - Bangladesh is the 3rd South Asian country to go to the IMF for a loan/bailout. The question is - why is every Asian economy failing and is India going to be next? What are the issues we must be careful about. Let's explore in depth in this video by Abhi and Niyu

    This is Why I love India's foreign policy. Main reason for bangladesh crises is oil prices which increased drastically after Russia- Ukraine war. But because of Indians foreign policy we are buying oil from Russia for cheap prices because no country from West could force us from not buying it. Both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka could do that because of pressure from west forces. This is tight slap on the face of those critics who used to compare us with Bangladesh's economy

You are right as a citizen but if you watch at the macro level, then you will find that something or some mentalities take time to change. Let's assume, if all corrupted people will be kept behind the bar in one go, then what will happen? The answer is that there will be an imbalance in the administration system of the country first. Second, if you hire the people for vacancies then the chances of more exploitation and corruption will be higher there due to absence of complete training in short time to justify the role and of course lack of experience. So, for running the nation, internal and external conflicts should be managed by maintaining the balance. Think about it.

    Fuel price Increased for 2 reasons-
    1. Price was big margin cheaper than India and fuel were smuggled to Indian border area uncontrollably.
    2. IMF won’t give Loan If BD government don’t stop subsidies energy sector which kept Fuel prices Down.
    Keeping corruption and mismanagement aside still Its not fair comparing Bangladesh with Pakistan or Srilanka as such a tiny landmass with huge number of population still fighting back alot better than many other Bigger economy.
    Bangladesh naturally always blindly on Indian side hence there are many Indian White elephant Projects running in BD where China couldn’t capture BD with their loan tricks. Bangladesh only took Chinese loans for productive sectors.

    The U-R war has made a heavy impact on us too. Most major impact I could notice was on Food & Power sectors.
    1- Increase (1.20 rs/unit) in the rate of electricity for industrial sector due to rise in the rates of fuels/coal . i.e if a industry is consuming 80 thousand units monthly , it will have to pay around 1 lakh rs extra per month than regular bill. This will automatically increase the production cost.
    2- All time high rates of wheat due to shortage . Govt used to give 5kg wheat to every ration card holder earlier , it has now reduced its supply to 1 kg . Because of shortage of wheat the flour mills don't have sufficient stock and cannot run on it's full capacity. Which will increase unemployment and it would be difficult for such a business to sustain.
    These are just two basic examples of the impact the U-R was has done.
    In all this situation only common people are gonna suffer.
    Already due to above reasons the rates of atta were hiking ,plus the govt has applied 5% gst on it which is having negative impact on micro businesses.

Now the load-shedding is happening because our govt don't want to buy fuel which is excessively priced at the moment (to save our fx reserve). The infrastructure is still there, once we get cheaper fuel, electricity production will be back to normal right away. And after the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is done, we'll be more secure. There are 3 reason for this situation
    1) global recession due to Chinese virus
    2) Russia-ukraine war & manipulation of natural gases & oil by selfish America & west .
    3) Rise of extremism in Bangladesh. So people instead of taking education & doing something county they,re learning madarsa(jihaad) knowledge and think to increase their mezhab rather than country.

    The issue with Bangladesh is lack of diversification of exports and also lack of diversified Market of their major exports.

    • @blackrockorange
      @blackrockorange Před rokem

      The thing is its quite difficult for a small country to be very diverse. They have to use their strengths and specialize. Once a millennium kind of events like COVID have upset the economy. Also unexpected war of Ukraine for which no one can plan. Both the events aren't the creation of Bangladesh. They are external shocks. To that extent I am sympathetic to Bangladesh. The same extent I am sympathetic to Srilanka as well. Of course this is a simplified view up from 10k feet. Reality is a lot more complex.

  • @Deepak-0871
    @Deepak-0871 Před rokem +30

    The problem for Bangladesh is they are an export oriented economy but with 80% exports accounted for by textiles - garments and fabrics. They do not produce cotton or synthetic yarn, for which they are dependent on other countries like India. And they cannot have full backward integration, as they do not produce cotton. If prices rise for these products, they can't have a equivalent increase in garment prices as their European and American clients would be reluctant for a price rise. Also they were doing exceptionally well as they are / were getting GSP advantage. This too might not continue for long.

    • @Deepak-0871
      @Deepak-0871 Před rokem +1

      And textile exports are a thin margin business. If the input costs rise, then you might not be competitive compared to others. And to their dismay both yarn prices as well as power prices shot up, due to factors not in their control.
