It is interesting that it was the Russians who expelled 3,500,000 Germans from the Czechia after WW2. Germans who made up 35% of the pre-war Czechia population.
And thus enabled the Czechia to exist as a country at all. As a normal country, without tensions with the German minority.
Let's add that the Germans killed 2/3 of the Czech population during the Thirty Years' War between Catholics and Protestants in the 17th century.
But even so, young Czechs think that they had some bad history with the Russians...

Sheesh this got heated after 7 months :D Well I guess I should add a few responses:
      1) Argument about Poland (obscure but ok) and Germany - There are assholes that changed through time and there are assholes that remained shitty people irl and in my opinion Germany and Poland changed for the better, while Russia stayed kind of the same - a bullying asshole (and the invasion of Ukraine should only solidify my former comment, lulz)
      2) I'm pretty sure the Jews were persecuted in the USSR as well and many ended up in Gulags, due to Jews being good businessmen and USSR disliking inequalities in wealth (I could be wrong about this one, I'm not that educated on this topic)
      3) USSR is not only Russia... I mean that's fair... But also... come on we all know who was really in charge :D
      4) I do agree that hating countries based on historic events is not good, I just don't think that Russia has changed after that "history" and just think about it, Russia literally hasn't been "the good guy" since at least 1900 (again, in my opinion)
      5) I didn't really say I hated Russia... I mean it could be seen as being implied but it was more of a: well there are people that *haven't* been to Russia, that could have some reasons to dislike it (e.g. Russia's visit)
      6) ISSA JOKE guys 😂😂 I just thought it was a clever observation and some funny wordplay
Take care, have a nice day and don't stress about things on the internet 😉✌️

Its just we are more liberal and small cities ans villages are always more conservative and eurosceptic, but thats everywhere, Brno is totally the same as Prague. There were always differences in city vs countryside. Cities are usually more educated, bigger incomes and life quality, pro european, liberal. Countryside is more conservative, anti european, practical. I respect both, i never looked down on countryside, i spent months or years at the local village and i understand the people. It seems to me that village people very openly hate and talk about Prague, but we in Prague dont talk or criticise countryside. If you will go to Warsaw, Budapest, Bratislava, Krakow, its all the same, more pro euroepan, more liberal etc

I understand your reason... I'm of German descent and Canadian citizen. When I was young, I was a very timid person and had a strong (not realized at that time) complex of inferioriry due to my German origin and that kind of suspicion and sometimes animosity towards Germans among children... War memories without any doubt.
I also hated my appearance, my name, especially when someone dared say it loudly: - "Oh, my God! Golden hair and eyes like bachelor's buttons... (flower with blue petals; bleuet in French) You're prettier than girls around..." I hated my hair, even tried to pull them out.... Long story short... I overcompensated (not realizing it either at that time) by studying books, learning languages, sometimes stunning even teachers with some knowledge I wasn't supposed to know in the middle school... I graduated from 3 colleges, studied in Paris, worked in Rome, Vienna and Kiev, later in some North-American colleges and Universities...
      - But what I wouldn't give now, at age approaching 80ies, to go back in time and settle in some remote Carpatian village, far away from big roads and lost between forests and rivers... working not in a prestigious colleges, but in a simple village school, teaching children of peasants and living simple life... Time to gather stones and believing the truth written by blood of your heart, as F. Nitsche would say it... Your story inspired to me that kind of reflection... Sometimes, we live our lives like hostages of ideas, installed in our brains by family, school and society, not knowing what outcome will be awaiting us at the end.
      Wishing you a good day.

It doesn't prevent them to use all good things like metro in prague, nuclear energy, the land they got, etc. Actually Russia helped them twice in 20th century to build a sovereign country, first helped them to free from Austria and nobles and then from Germany. Small example: if you visit Trebenice Concentration Camp complex - you will not find even one picture of soviet solders who sacrificed lives for liberation of this particular camp, they cleared all traces, but you will find there random US solders (not related to this camp) pictures. They do not remember anything, no polish annexation of silesia, germans, etc, but only 1968 - they made a cult out of this. List of their hypocrisy is endless. This propaganda and demonization, coming every minute from all corners in CZ, one of the biggest reason is all media in CZ are controlled by another gov.

I don't think it's a case of not liking countries it depends on your personality and your outlook on life, i'm from Northern Ireland for example and i get on with more outgoing people eg Brazilians, Italians and the Dutch are cool as well, maybe people who are more quiet and reserved blend better with other countries and people. I visited Vienna it's probably the most beautiful city in europe but i found the people i met pretty cold and weird, but if you're only visiting a country or a city for a short time it's hard to give a fair opinion.

@@NONSTOP-VIDEOS you know, I can understand the Czechs and other people from the countries of the former Warsaw Pact, why you hate the USSR and communism. But unlike the Soviet Union, you did not have such bloodshed. Yes, there were turning points, but the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic was formed in a fairly peaceful way, unlike the USSR. And the communist regime in Czechoslovakia was ending bloodless, and Czechoslovakia collapsed but after its collapse weren't military conflicts between CR and Slovakia. And because of that 90s wasn't so bad period in Czech history, like it was in many post-Soviet countries including Russia. I respect Czechs and especially Czech reformers of the 20th century. But the fact is that the history of the communist regime in Russia and other post-Soviet countries is also not easy. You think that if it were not for Soviet communism (please, do not call it "Russian", thae state with the name "Russia" did not exist at that time.) Then the little Czech Republic would be the second America. To be honest, it seems to me that you are exaggerating, the Czech Republic would still have fewer labor and mineral resources than America. In any case, the Czech Republic is now doing quite well, and as I said earlier, everything was relatively calm with you when it comes to the communist past, compared to us. In Czechoslovakia, they tried to carry out liberal reforms and sometimes they succeeded. And in the USSR, if they tried to carry out reforms, they failed, which led to a painful disintegration. Therefore, please don't complaining that much, I don't deny that in Czechoslovakia everything was not as good as it could have been. But you Czechs know how to develop your country, and I wish you success in this. I wish you and your country prosperity!

@@jmenonenidulezite561 it's being talked about everywhere now. But you understand that we Russians cannot stop the war here and now, right? Well, that is, of course, we can (and many do) go to meetings, and then be punished or defend our anti-war position in some other way. But it will have to be done a thousand times, and it's not a fact that it will be successful. Everything is complicated in this matter. It is easier to say "no to war" than to make sure that this war actually did not happen.

am quite surprised that more Czechs than Poles said they did not like Russia

    • @letecmig
      @letecmig Před 3 lety +13

The difference in attitude towards Russia&Russians was that before 1968, Czechs were essentially russophiles as opposed to Poles. No historical contact&experience on the side of Czechs was the factors, and the first real contact in 1945 was an all positive experience. Compare this to well known PL-RU history:).
So in 1968, for most people of my parent's generation, it was true shock. Like when somebody you consider your 'loved friend' betrays you and humiliates you, or something like that.
You would probably 'forgotten' it earlier if that person was 'known local bully and criminal'(you know who I am referring to here)
Based on talks with my parents, its how they perceived and why they literally hate russia till this day.
But its more complex than that naturally- based on my discussion with Poles, Polish 'distrust' is much, much deeper than Czech 'verbal unfriendliness'.
