    Thank you so much ❤ I am going thru chemo and lost all my hair and have wigs now but didn't like how they were so puffy and couldn't style them. Just ordered multiple head hot air brush and can't wait to have fun styling. When you mentioned how to hold it after on cool setting really helps me understand how heat friendly and synthetic works different than natural. I can also use when my hair grows back bonus 😊👍😘🥰

    I just bought a wig that I love (Toni Brattin Fashion Flair), with lots of flipped up layers that I want to train inward instead, but I didn’t know if I should use my variable heat curling iron, or my clothing steamer. Lo and behold, thanks to you Denise, now I know how to use another tool in my arsenal. I’ve been wearing wigs off and on for quite a while, and my hot air brush never dawned on me. Thanks!

    I am so grateful for your videos. I have a couple of wigs but mostly wear toppers and I am guessing that I can use your tricks for them as well. I always feel like people know that I have them on so I am really self conscious but thanks to you, tomorrow I am taking all of my toppers to a hair stylist to customize them. I am going to order one of the air dry brushes too. I do have a question. At my daughter's wedding last year, I had a blonde wig on and one of her friends came up to me and said that I looked like I was wearing a doll wig because it was so shiny. I was horrified. Is there a way to make it look less "doll like"?

    • @patriciat5323
      @patriciat5323 Před rokem

      I've been feeling frustrated. Wearing wigs for 10 years at least with my thinning hair. Last wig I ordered on line was by Belle tress. The pictures and videos looked sooo great BUT the front lace feels like wire against my forehead. I don't want to wear hair grippers and caps underneath! These expensive wigs should be comfortable on there own especially in the heat of summer! I'm considering toppers ,I'm just not sure anymore. I'm tired of opening a box excited only to wonder if it's even the same wig sometimes! 😩
      I've been wearing a ball cap now till I figure what to do next.
      Unfortunately there only 3 wig boutiques here and too expensive for synthetic hair
      Good luck to you with your hair toppers. ❤

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  Před 4 měsíci

      For non heat-friendly I use a clothing steamer... and to add more curl you can use velcro rollers, just make sure to let them cool fully so the curl will set. For heat friendly you can use any heat tool that has a temperature adjuster... most synthetic wigs shouldn't have heat higher than 300 degrees on them... I have seen some that recommend no higher than 280, and I've seen some that say you can go up to 350. Here is a video I did using steam on a heat friendly synthetic (steam works on those as well): czcams.com/video/Ma2dBwjKElk/video.htmlsi=w3GUPSvz0suZ-dB0

    Hi Denise can you use a hot air brush plastic on you non low heat friendly synthetic wigs! I have a Estetica Hudson wig and it does not say whether it is heat friendly or not so I’m assuming it is not heat friendly!!!!! I have a hot air brush and I can use it on low heat do you think it would be ok to use it on my wig? I sure hope so bc it needs some love and help!! Plz let me know!! I am going thru chemo and radiation right now and I’ve had 1 round of chemo which I had an allergic reaction to the drug Taxol that they were giving me and my throat swelled shut and I could not breathe at all!!!!!!!!! I really couldn’t!!!! I was terrified and thank gos my husband was there and saw me struggling to breathe and yelled for help bc I couldn’t speak and it was absolutely terrifying!!!!!!! It took about 15 minutes before I could take a deep breath!!!!!!! I thought my husband thought and so did the nurses thought I was gonna pass out before they got it under control!! It was absolutely terrifying!!!!!!!!! Then they said they had to restart it and my husband and I freaked out bc we were afraid it was gonna happen again!! They gave it to me at a much slower rate this time and then I was fine with it!! I had no problems with it the 2nd time around!!!!!! Thank god for that!!!!!! We were really upset when they said they had to restart it again bc I had such a bad reaction to it the first time!!!

    Hello Denise! I really enjoy your videos! Thank you for sharing you knowledge and experience! Do you ever use the hot air brushes on your curly styles, like Girl Mono? If so how? I feel like my Girl Monos need a touch up but I dont want to ruin the curl pattern. Thank you!

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you! I would never take heat to any of my curly wigs if I want to keep the curl pattern intact. Unfortunately that is the reality of wig wearing.... heat will alter a wig's style. That is why I don't personally like to get curly or wavy wigs in heat friendly fibers. They need periodic heat to keep the fibers supple but the heat will change the curl or wave. It is possible to put curl into both heat and non-heat friendly wigs but you will never be able to duplicate what came from the manufacturer. Sorry.... I'm sure that wasn't the answer you wanted. ❤️

    Hi Denise, thanks for all your excellent videos, I love your channel. Do you know if I could use a hot brush where the barrel heats up rather than having hot air blow out. I'm finding it a bit of a pain in the uk to find a decent hot air brush (it's probably because I'm clueless as my hair has been very very short since my 20's and I'm now 60) x

      As long as the wig is heat friendly you could... but I don't find that they work very well to rehab the ends of a heat friendly synthetic. I would rather recommend a metal barrel round brush and a hair dryer than one of those.

      I have used plastic hot air brushes on my regular synthetics many times. Sometimes, though, they don't product enough heat to get the desired result. If that happens you can use a round brush and a clothing steamer as well.

  • @christinevonpander-incomes2036

    Hi Denise, Just curious if you could tell us how to tell which of our wigs are “Heat friendly” if we forgot which is which please?

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  Před rokem

      If the tag is still in the wig it might say... it really depends on the manufacturer. If all else fails, take a little tiny piece at the nape and put heat to it... if it singes then it isn't heat friendly.

      Hi, Debera. I'm so sorry I missed this question- The second wig (with bangs) is TressAllure Clarissa in Mocha Gold- I cut bangs into this one, it does not come with bangs. Here is my review on this style: czcams.com/video/FXhIBKRjjdM/video.html

    im of the opinion the less you mess with a wig the better. Trim it where you need, get it to how you like it and keep it clean and its the easier thing you will every wear. Don’t get into the habit of hot air brushing it unless its after a wash or first couple of wears.

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  Před 2 lety +2

      You're talking specifically about non heat friendly, though, correct? If so I totally agree with you. I would say the reason to use a hot air brush on non heat friendly would be if you're trying to correct something or if flyways are out of control and you're trying to tame them.

    Can you use hot brushes on synthetic

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  Před 8 měsíci

      On regular synthetic (not heat friendly) the only hot air brush I would use is an all plastic one... and always make sure you spritz the wig with a little water first. This is the one I've used on regular synthetics: amzn.to/3TCU3LL
      Here is a video showing that: amzn.to/3TCU3LL

    do you use these on wigs with curls or waves in them? also, do you use a crimper iron?

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  Před rokem

      If you use these on wigs with waves or curls you will remove the curl so I would not. I would never use a crimper or ANY curling iron on a regular synthetic.. the heat is way too much for those fibers.
