"Hello, I'm Johnny Cash" never ceases to immediately grab the attention of everyone in the room.
Sometimes people come into our life for a brief moment, but leave a huge impact in our life. In February 1983, I was flying to Ohio to bury my mother. With me were my young children and husband. My daughter was 6 years old at the time and really didn't understand why I was so sad. Our plane stopped in Newark NJ, as passengers were departing the plane, my daughter would say good bye to them. Most just smiled at her and kept moving a long. All except one kind gentleman, who stopped to speak with her, as I looked up, I realized it was the one and only Mr. Johnny Cash. Mr. Cash took a few moments of his time to speak with my daughter. I must say the kindness he showed to her filled my heart beyond words. I have never forgotten that moment. Such a beautiful, kind and loving human being ❤️
Wonderful story👍

Once a lion always a lion.

The man was weak, in pain, physically spent..and then he played and sang the legendary songs like he knew he must do one last time. 8 weeks later we lost him.THE MAN IN BLACK did it one last time.
I noticed how he came alive during his songs. As if his life was in the music.
Fingers dancing like young feet on that guitar.
Goodnight Johnny Cash. Singing with the Angels now😇😇
Joey splats , l noticed too . He just loved it .
Who is the lady sitting behind him
You can hear the pain in his voice. It was two months after June has passed. Can you imagine just singing like this knowing it's your last time, and the memories flood your mind as you sing. His songs were his life. It's crazy to know his beginning but to see his end. Life is always a cycle, but, when you see it, like you do here, it's always sad to see what's gone, even though time passes on and our bodies do not. Johnny Cash you'll always be great!
❤
That’s life Man we all know that
I am George Hicks, Bluff City Tennessee. I went to the Carter Family Fold museum. Johnny Cash's chair was there and is probably still is .There was a sign in the chair that said. "Do not sit in chair." A museum worker ask. " you look like you really like Johnny ? I said I do .He removed the sign and said Have a seat in Johnny's
Chair. I did, it was huge. I could never be man enough to fill Johnny's chair. The museum worker explained that Johnny had that chair taken along with him everywhere he went. I will never forget. That's a BIG DEAL. "IT REALLY IS"
Why did this comment make me tear up?
Nice story Man en now the truth Story Please 😂
I’m in my 70s now, and watching this reminds me how fast it goes. I’ve been disabled for a long time, and it takes so much humility to ask for help. Johnny has that humility. All of us would rather do… It’s very hard to accept or have to ask for help. But it gives us the opportunity to help someone else feel closer to God and be helpful. God bless anyone who reads this.
God bless.
Amen
@@TeaTimeChinese God bless you. I to am disabled and have to ask for help.

So beautiful! So thankful Johnny did this and shared his quick little visit from June. Hallelujah Father!
The strain of age in his voice makes his songs hit even harder. What a legend
I agree completely. I like how his voice changed over the years. A little bit more tough a little bit more tired. Still beautiful.
Yep I agree . He was never considered the best voice by his own admission , but his story telling through song was unmatched . So yes the pain in his voice was evident , but many of his ballads include that same strain ! Like Johnny Cash - Pain . That song is phenomenal 🙏
Yes also the fact he sang the song they used at his beloveds service. He shared that with us. Even his older songs became so much more in his anthology series.
yes
I still can listen to his last hit, “Hurt”, as my father died around the same time as his death.
I was just so lucky and fortunate to have attended this in person !!!
An amazing unforgettable night. RIP Johnny.
Wow!! Very fortunate ❤

@@confusedandsleeplessIm pretty sure thats Jeanette Carter, sister of June. She passed in 2006 I believe.
I met him and his wife down town Kingsport on board street. My mom and I had gone into Wallace’s news stand to get some popcorn I was about 7or 8 yrs old. And Wallace said “we got a star in here today!” He told us Johnny cash was down there at the end of the store looking at magazines. My mom and I walked up to him, and I said hello Mr. cash! He said hey there little lady! Which one of my songs is your favorite? I said all of them ! He told us June was in an antique store across the street. We walked over and said hello and I got both of their autographs! It was so exciting! He was a tall man with a studious presence! He had huge hands as I remember when he shook my tiny little hand. A deep bellowing voice I’ll never forget it. June was as sweet and country and so nice. It’s one of my fondest memories as a child at Wallace’s news stand.

Him having to be helped to sit down broke my heart, both my grandparents were the same age but never went through that. But that's what drugs do to you, take them for 5 years and you're body will shut down 5 years early. Johnny Cash deserves a statue though right in the middle of Nashville.

Apparently the 596 dislikes have no idea when they’re listening to greatness! Not only a great song writer, Mr Cash was also a great human being especially in his latter years. His music is inspiring, heartfelt and deep! I really enjoy his last few songs he wrote and played! What a great Christian at least in his last few years!! A person can learn a lot from the good and bad Johnny Cash lived!!
Greatness my ass, apparently you had no problem with him abusing drugs and the way he treated women wasn't exactly very nice at all. It's like this, John R. Cash made the choices that he made and they caught up with him, ya can't treat others like crap and expect to live a happy healthy life point blank. So if people chose to thumbs down it oh well they had their reasons just like you have your reasons to be a boot licking Cash fan. To each their own, deal with it and stop whining like a baby!
First off I’m not whining about anything, merely expressing my opinion just like you did. As for a “ Boot licking Cash fan “ I’m a fan of great lyrics and the people who write them! I agree with your comments about his life, you reap what you sow! More than some, not as many as others, I’ve sown my share of bad seeds but I’ve also changed in the last 30+ years. What I meant was people could leave from him, what to do and what not to do, how to live and how not to live, a person could learn a lot from him!
I was raised with Johnny, Waylon , Merel , Willie , and many more .. these people today dont know nothing about these times . Sad to see the Generations Change . Country ain't Country no more . As they die off as has my parents , and grandparents so does these Times , Sad to say it's about gone . Its changed and I dont like it one bit 😔
Couldn’t have said it better. Brings a smile to my face and tear to my eye to know we have almost no legends left of the country music world. This man broke those walls down of country music and a lot more people need to cherish those history listens.

Technically, he died from diabetes, but i truly believe a broken heart was also there. He didn't care to live anymore , probably just gave up......
When Johnny was so fragile, helped to the stage and appearing so weak, I stopped breathing until he was seated. THEN!!! He picked up his guitar, introduced himself with that comforting and strong "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash", He proved that even in his time of grave challenges, his hands still looked young and his fingers could still strum with the rest of them , and better! Until the "End", he delivered. The way he played here and sang, was nothing short of Miraculous. There IS NO END to Johnny Cash! His Legacy of great music, facing hardship, raw insight, wisdom and yes LOVE, will live on as he Rests in Peace along side of his Beloved June. His hand had trouble holding the water bottle but became strong when he played so well, his guitar. Even the "gravel" in his voice" was no deterrent to the joy of watching and listening to this Beautiful Man sing and play for the last time. Sigh!

I am 81 years old, and we saw Johnny Cash live at the Knoxville Civic Center in the late 1960s. What a wonderful performance he gave! So very thankful he became a Christian and is with our Lord for eternity.
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe!
Also 81, myself a musician, always admired and followed Johnny Cash❣
Johnny Cash “The Last True and Great American’
Without Johnny we can kiss good Ole country goodbye..
Its been my pleasure to listen to you over the years tks for the memories. An American Icon and troubadour. Your music lives on & on.
I write songs because of Mr. Cash. He was the truth.

He is the best, guitarist of all times that, I have ever heard. His music and legacy will live forever.
Hey how are you doing?😮
Love Johnny Cash. He was blessed with a long life. We'll greatly miss him.😢
He was forced to live a long life of pain and torture he had to keep hidden 😢
I loved him most
@@AnnieNelson-wo6bm Some reason I thought he lived longer than in his 70's when I commented he lived a long life. Love Johnny Cash ❤
The man in black ... his legacy will never die!!!
Exceptionally rare to see a man muster up and show so much courage. What an adamant soldier Mr. Cash was. He lived for music and the generations to come will be eternally thankful for that. We love you Johnny.
as long as l have left he ls my hero
Been fan of his for around 30year and there's always more of his work to find he's a total Gift that keeps giving X.
@@alanmcintosh8087 Couldn't agree more. And even if you ran out of new songs to find from him, the old ones transform in meaning complitely as one gets more life under his belt
@@davidarchangel8671 Nail to the head buddy, he was one of a kind

A great man that’s missed. Rest in peace Mr. Cash.
I cry every time time I watch this. Every time.
I don't watch it often. But sometimes I come back to look at it to appreciate what he did and am glad he got to do these songs one last time time before he died, hard as it was at this stage.
For some reason this video seems, not heartbreaking but just ..I don't know exactly..it's a melancholy performance. I guess just knowing it was his last performance packs an emotional punch..for me, at least.
I really appreciated how attentive and well behaved everyone was - when they panned to the crowd I was like holy cow that’s a sizable crowd!!!!
LEGEND. the body is weak but his mind is strong. RIP J C
Johnny’s music will never die and neither will his spirit!!!
For many years I listened to his music as a child with my dad at night on our front porch steps as we listened to the skip come in from Ohio to Alabama where we lived. Wonderful memories of my Dad & of Johnny Cash. Now both of them are in heaven & I can't help but feel my dad & he are singing the old country songs together.
@@francessides5540 that’s beautiful

There was only one Johnny Cash. No one could do any better. He was the best. RIP Johnny.
Merle Haggard could impersonate him to a T.

God bless that man in the crowd that said "we love you Johnny"
So amazing to watch this. What an incredible man. You can hear it in his voice that he knows its probably the last time he sings his songs. I love the "I love you Johnny" moment. Rest in Peace Johnny !!!

The lower and deeper his voice gets showing decay and pain the more meaningful and powerful these songs get...what a truly master

His greatest attribute wasn't only his music, but the love he bestowed and recieved from so many.
Hello 👋 how are you doing?
Once a musician, always a musician, no matter how old you get! Bravo Johnny! Thanks for all your music. You've made life better for all of us!
Hello how are you doing today..?
Johnny and June were so very much in love and I strongly feel that not only did his health issues take his life, but I feel he died of a broken heart over the loss of June being gone. He was lost without her. They were each other's lives. May they both rest and in peace and be singing together again in Heaven. God bless them.
I think the reason johnny and june were so good together was their music . they complemented each other so well in their music . they both just had that awesome country sound and it worked . i still miss them both .
God Bless! What a wonderful gift. J&J gave unselfishly. Tank you.
Well said Johnny was a true legend
Their love was an inspiration💖
Her love for God and her Faith saved him from a path of sure self destruction.
Bless his sweet heart. There will only ever be ONE Johnny Cash.
