I remember watching an interview of a Japanese rock band (I can’t place exactly which band unless I go back now and look for the interview) but I remember them saying the difference between Japanese audience and a European audience is exactly that. The foreigners are hype all the time while Japanese will be polite and quiet during more somber or slower songs. It’s interesting to notice.

Angel Beats really did me in tho...In every episode you were either busting your guts laughing or close to tears.
Yi Yiang Chuah Anohana was the worst for me. I sob at the ending every time. YLiA made me cry nearly every episode. Angel Beats though, I thought it was terrible. I didn't feel any emotion from that show at all through the horribly fast pacing.
