  • What To Look for In Your Next Set of Bed Sheets
When it comes to choosing bed sheets, there are several factors to consider to ensure a comfortable and satisfying sleep experience.
•The right set of bed sheets can enhance the overall quality of your rest, so it's important to know what to look for when selecting your next set.
In this guide, we will explore some key aspects to consider before making your purchase.
    The fiber
The type of fiber your bedsheets are made from is crucial in determining their overall comfort, durability, and breathability. Here are some popular options to consider:
    Cotton
Cotton is unquestionably the most popular fabric choice due to its softness, breathability, and durability.
•Look for Long-Staple cotton or Extra Long Staple cotton for added luxury and comfort.
    Microfiber
•Microfiber sheets are made from synthetic fibers and are known for their affordability, wrinkle resistance, and ease of care.
•However, because they are synthetic, they don’t breathe or wick moisture, as well as natural fibers.
    Linen
•Linen sheets are highly breathable and perfect for hot climates.
•There are a variety of qualities of linen sold.
o Many of the lower price linen sheets sold are blends of linen and other fibers.
o Many people don’t care for linen bed sheets when they are new. They can feel rough and may take dozens of washings before they soften up.
o Linen sheets also wrinkle easily.
    Silk
While few fabrics are softer than silk, there are some shortcomings with silk bedsheets.
•Lower-cost silk bedsheets are frequently blended with other fibers, such as polyester.
•Good Mulberry silk can be very expensive.
•Assuming your sheets are 100% Mulberry silk, they can easily snag on a ring or watch, or other items they come in contact with when sleeping.
•Silk can be hot and clingy.
    •Silk is challenging to clean.
    Thread Count
Thread count refers to the number of threads woven into a square inch of fabric. In comparison, a high thread count was traditionally associated with better quality. The concept of thread count is easily understood and remembered. However, just because a high thread count may be identified on your sheets, it may or may not be true. A better indicator of quality bed sheets is the grade of the cotton. As stated above, look for Long Staple or Extra Long Staple cotton. Price is also a good indicator of quality and comfort. Look for a thread count between 200 and 800, as this range typically provides a good balance of softness and durability.
Cotton is graded based on a number of factors. The most relevant are fiber length, fiber diameter, tensile strength, and color.
Cotton fibers can vary from ¼” to as long as 6”. The longer, stronger fibers provide a more durable bed sheet that is less likely to pill.
A trick that some unscrupulous manufacturers will use is to spray the fabric with silicone to give the sheets a soft feel. Unfortunately, the silicone washes off after a few trips to the washing machine.
When you see a set of 1,000 thread count sheets selling online for $50, you may want to give pause to buying them.
    Weave
The weave of the bed sheets affects their feel and performance. The two most common weaves include:
    Percale
•Percale sheets have a crisp and cool feel, making them ideal for warm weather.
•They are tightly woven in a one-thread over, one-thread-under weave.
•Percale sheets provide that cool crisp feel. and provide a smooth, matte finish.
    Sateen
•Sateen sheets have a lustrous and silky feel due to their weave structure.
•Assuming all things equal (thread count - and grade of cotton), they are usually softer than Percale bed sheets.
•Sateen bedsheets have a slight sheen, making them great for colder climates.
•Sateen bedsheets are woven on a Jacquard Loom and can have woven in patterns the fabric. They can be woven with no pattern as well.
Other weaves used in bed linens are:
    •Flannel.
o Flannel sheets are typically lower cost than high-quality sheets made in Percale or Sateen fabrics.
o Because of the nap found in flannel sheets, they have more surface area that can trap your body heat, making them popular for some in the winter months.
o Flannel sheets often wear faster than a Percale or Sateen bedsheet.
    •Jersey Knit
o Jersey sheets feel similar to a Tee shirt.
o They are less expensive than higher-quality sheets.
o Jersey sheets wear out much faster than higher-quality bed sheets.

I love linen sheets. They're cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Some people love linen, while others are not fans. Good linen may feel a little coarse until it is washed 50+ times. Good linen can also be expensive - $1,500 + for a set of sheets.

I read there's no such thing as very long staple cotton from Gaza anymore as the supply chain been adulterated. Is that true?

No, there are several different grades of Giza cotton, some very good - such as Extra Long Staple Cotton and some are poor grades of cotton which is reflected in their low price.
