Our Map is our MaPa in this Life journey. | Both used and present on this song.
This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19.
This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece will help us do another move to tell them how much we value and love them.
In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advice they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map).
In the Filipino culture, we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Times wherein we just want our parents to stay still and its time for us (children) to do the rest. We want them to rest from the days and time they give and sacrifices for us.
This song hits the hardest if we have those regrets if not being able to give back and let them rest from those tiring days they spent for us. Regrets prolly due to some unforeseen events. Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason.
Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing.
Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Remember a milestone in our lives, our first step as a baby? Those gently hands guiding not just our ways but most making sure that if we fall, they are there willing to Catch and pick us up and encourage us to try again.
For Single parents out there, you both the Ma and Pa. you alone is the Mapa.
For those OFW parents (MaPa) doing the great sacrifices for their Kids, Salute! Those OFW Kids making every effort to provide and give back their MaPa’s, Salute.
Watching this masterpiece brings me home every time. Let’s not wait for the time where we regret.. call them now and let them know how much we love and treasure them.

The song really makes people open up with their personal experiences. It's the magic of MAPA. SB19 always make us feel human and be proud of being a human. We can be vulnerable and we can be unstoppable at the same time.
The meaning of lataratara it means they sang lataratara when we are babies because we are crying and that lataratara the first song that I've ever heard, the best song from my parents 😭💗and when they start singing we slowly sleep,filipino parents are the best for me❤️

The boat changed and soared high as a plane. It shows that the child already reached his dream. Then it goes back to being a boat to show that he's reminiscing the past. How his parents support him and made him the person he is now.
Same goes the flowers it was planted and as time it grows and bloom. But soon it withers like our parents getting older.

It was a play on words. MAPA means map in English and those are the combination of the first (or the last 😁) syllable of the words mama and papa.
They won't ever be lost because they have the map/mama and papa to guide them. 🥰

This song will teach us how on how we can express to our parents how much we love them without saying "I love you to them"
There is this Last song syndrome I have with MAPA. It’s really a soulful music that touches our hearts deeply. So beautiful.. So far I can’t see any song of SB19 that has offensive lyrics. All there music are safe to any age to watch. I’m happy that I found SB19 music. My respect to them as an artist is so high. Whenever I hear Ken's deep voice in bridge part (correct me if I'm wrong, which part it is), I can't help myself but think that he is singing it for his late grandma who raised him😭❤️

Thank you for your courage to share about your DAD & your beloved GrandMa, who raised you & your brother. Look what a fine, sweet, lovely young lady you are now!!! Although what inspired PABLO/SB19 to compose this song were their MAs & PAs, as a TRIBUTE to Honor everything they have done for them, this Song will deeply touch everyone. Some may have wonderful relationships with both or one of their Parents & some may not.
But regardless of what a son's or a daughter's present relationship is with his/her MA & PA, this Song serves to make one Reflect about how he/she has treated them. Here's my theory to the word "Lataratara", if you sing it continuously it can sound "Literatura" or Literature in English, and from its root word LETTER. This song is indeed a LETTER from a Child to their Parents. 😊😉

Lataratara is a lullaby Pablo's mom sang to him when he was little. MAPA symbolizes (as you said) a map that their parents laid out for them. It also represents MA (mama) and PA (papa) as well as (from something else I noticed) MAta (eyes) that symbolize the mom and PAa (feet) that symbolize the dad

Josh - Never met his dad. Singing his part and creating a memory that does not exist. Became independent from her mom during his highschool days.
Ken - Both parents are Overseas Filipino Workers. Grandparents stood as his father and mother figures. Her grandma recently died. He wants to give back but he felt that it was too late.
Pablo - His dad is an OFW too. He helps the family now as one of the elder brother amongst his siblings.
Stell- Experienced also to work abroad for his loving and caring family
Justin - Sheltered bunso now making his parents and family proud of him.
