@@NoahHere_ Good timing in marking and tackling is better than just just speed but only ended with injury or foul. If you look at many of the world class CB, they always prefer the good time of tackling. Speed is only used when necessary.
Not an Everton fan but been keeping an on this guy for a few year's. When he first joined Everton thought he was good but maybe not PL good. Reminded me a bit of Phil Jones (Phil Jones before Utd). Anyway a couple of loans later and a winning U21 euros qnd he's arrived. Quality at Blackburn (before injury) and PSV but wondered if he had the pace for the big time. How wrong was i. Loves a sliding tackle which makes me smile as haven't seen many for years. Thought they were banned hs ha. However, the sliding tackle could be his problem in any club/country Euro tournament and also the World Cup. What would happen against the likes of Vinicus Jr, Mbapoe etc etc etc. What does everyone think?? Also big shout out to Blackburn Rovers. How many young Premier League footballers have they helped develop. Insane
United have been strongly linked with him this past few months, so I've watched him a few times and wasn't that impressed with him. Got too tight against Haaland when he scored, and conceded a penalty against United (although was offside so didn't count). So, he is liable to make mistakes. However, I'm surprised by how quick he is. When I watched him initially it looked he was quite slow, but he can shift. Plus, he's a very decent ball player, although hasn't showcased it at all this season due to the way Everton build up. Decent talent for sure. But something that's interesting is that you nor I are the only ones who didn't think Branthwaite would develop as much as he has this season. Southgate said it himself a few weeks back that he didn't expect this as Branthwaite was on the bench for the U21's just last summer and within a few months is performing as one of the best CB's in the league.
In this video, he’s sliding tackles are good. In reality, we know he makes mistakes. I would still prefer for standing tackles instead. Since, one error could lead to a penalty or send off.
@@lnr243not necessarily, if ten Hag or a different manager tactically set up the defense and midfield correctly his pace won't be an issue. There's many elite but slower defenders at big clubs like Hummels, Thiago Silva, Acerbi.

what are so many of you going on about? He's not slow. He's taller AND a fair bit faster than Maguire for example. Just going by physical attributes alone, would probably be a good partner for Licha.. United need more of a physical presence in the team. @@DisforDelight I think so. But I believe I saw an interview and he mentioned he's 2 footed, very comfortable with either foot. Real concern is the price tbh. English player in the epl + Man utd tax 😂
If he were a target for United, I'd be concerned at the fact he is also left footed. Despite his bad luck with injuries, Martinez also plays on the left. It does not seem sensible to sign somebody for such a fee while, at least while on the pitch, he would be behind the team's best defender.
Well that’s what a big club like city does . Imagine we have a big player to come in for Casemiro when he’s injured we will be fine now but whenever Casemiro is out of the team we struggle so learn from that
Ruben Dias still has the same weakness. If they meet an elite forward such as Salah, Mbappe, or Vinicius they win a penalty 60% of the time if the tackle is in the box
Sell Lindelof and Varane that's a lot of wages off the books and we can afford Branthwaite and Todibo who can learn off Varane which is the future of centre backs
I think he won’t suit Ten Hag’s United system. He seems like he is an Everton level player. Has he shown he can play a high line? But, if we need to replace Maguire, anything will do. Even that Kangawa kid is better.
@@ForTheLoveOfTheGame-vp8pg From the matches that Kangawa has played, he is a better all round defender than Maguire. He has more pace, can hold the bull, has a better pass & movement and can tackle better. Maguire's strength is aerial. When he is the last man before the keeper, God help us.
Nothing special here! Clearances, long balls, clears lines. Go and look at a min jae highlights reel and you would so the level of a top CB. Big burly bulky huge player but lacks pace. In modern day football you can not afford big chunky heavy legs unless you have Van de Vens pace. Born 30 years too late unfortunately.
He use right leg for tackle, left leg for long pass.. 👏👏👏.
Third leg for headers
A must signing for United this summer. Very rare u see a CB that has two equally strong feet. Also he's equally comfortable playing both LCB & RCB
He looks slow and clumsy.

Reads the game so well with great pace...great timing on his tackling..huge potential..
i would love to see a backline of todibo and branthwaite at utd.
First time I'm seeing a defender good with both feet
He’s really good but at the same time I don’t trust defenders that only slide tackle but also he is doing it in the prem.

This guy is huge
I don’t know if he gets card but from what I saw here, his sliding tackles are clean and safe.
Has anyone asked him what's his strongest foot? He seems to be using his right to tackle and control the ball but then passes it with his left.
The next John Stones also coming from Everton, very nice
Don't insult John Stones, Branthwaite is half the player Stones was at Everton.
In this video, he’s sliding tackles are good. In reality, we know he makes mistakes. I would still prefer for standing tackles instead. Since, one error could lead to a penalty or send off.
Good point but I think with good coaching he can improve massively in his sliding tackle
