I believe that he reiterates a dream he truly did have. His fears accumulated into it, like the entire scene with Hailie in the audience, screaming at him. Instead of walking towards her, as a normal situation would call for, in his dream, she is the embodiment of his fear: losing her (his family at large). So you see him step away; he retreats on the stage, as she yells at him. That's why I believe it is a true story and also that he is a great actor and screenplay writer, not just a great lyricist. He conveys so much, even in his videos. But also, last but not least, through the lines of course, they aren't irrelevant. Notice how Hailie becomes his demon, as she turns from more childlike, into his own self, criticising his own life choices. As she evolves the way she addresses him from "Daddy", to "Dad", to "Marshall".

Like Toy Soldiers is another classic Eminem song. He talks about his beefs with Murder Inc and Benzino and how rap beef sometimes escalates to violence/death in some cases. It's a mature perspective about something that is unfortunately still relevant today.
Going Through Changes is good song about what he went through during his drug addiction/depression phase.
Darkness is off his most recent album but it's real heavy subject matter and very underrated as far as Em's content-heavy tracks go.
Your pops seems like a no nonsense kinda guy so i'm trying to pick songs that are more serious, because even though Em always rips it lyrically, a lot of his catalog is pretty goofy lol

The part where Hailie talks about her mom's wrists- that is based on an actual event. Kim & her sister went to Up In Smoke tour and he played the song "Kim" (which is a really dark song & there was also a blow up doll involved). She left, got into car accident, and then attempted. Unfortunately Kim has had struggles with her mental health since then but seems to be getting the help she needs recently.

When Eminem wrote this he was deep into drugs. You can see it in the weight gain/loss in diff scenes so he was writing a good bye song bc he didn’t think he’d live much longer. BONNIE & CLYDE Then name another rapper who could do that 🔥 Got a new sub!
