My favourite chapter is Chapter V - Riddles in the Dark. Tolkien's reading of this chapter is fantastic, and it is a great example of how a rewrite can improve the chapter. The 1951 chapter is much enhanced over the first edition text. My favourite line in the whole book does not appear in the first edition “Thief, thief, thief! Baggins! We hates it, we hates it, we hates it for ever!”

Beautifully read. It really is one of the best chapters in the book.

Would you ever consider doing audiobooks? You could be really good at it. You have a nice voice.

Great idea, I would buy them. Shame the licensing would be a huge hurdle, unless he does original content.
He could get around this by just doing CZcams videos instead.

What an epic moment and what a way with words Tolkien had. I totally forgot the details of the Battle of the Five Armies in the book. Should read it again 👍.

How is your copy of Nature of Middle Earth the same height as the others? Mine is about half an inch shorter and it kind of drives me crazy

The US/HMH edition is about 1cm (~1/2 inch) shorter than the UK editions and other editions. This should no longer happen with US editions as they are all now HarperCollins editions and should be the same size.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you from? I can't pinpoint your accent.
