    Hello Doctor,
    Thanks for the video!
    After an open rhino, on average, how many weeks does it take for one to get their sensation and movement of the upper lip back? And, on average, how many weeks does it take for the nose tip settle down from being excessively upturned after rhino?

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  Před 2 lety +1

      On average, it may take 6 weeks to 3 months to get movement of the upper lip back. The tip rotation may take about the same amount of time but may be longer based on the techniques that were used to rotate and lift the tip. I would talk with your surgeon to get a better idea as every surgeon and surgery is unique.

      Depending on the thickness of your skin and any work that might have been performed on the cartilages under the skin of your nostrils, the plastic retainer can help mold the skin and inner lining to the cartilage. Think of the cartilage as what shapes your nose as being the middle of a sandwich between the skin and underlying inner lining of the nose. The shape of the nostrils will reach its goal much quicker with the help of the plastic retainer mold

    After how many days post-op can I wash my face/nose with a mild soap again?

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  Před 2 lety

      Check with your surgeon. There is often an external cast or tape in place and you should not be washing your face until after the cast/tape comes off.

  • @IntoBlackHouse
    @IntoBlackHouse Před 2 lety +2

    I cringed at the wet wash cloth tip. That is a HUGE no no. Why? The dampness can cause the rigid splint that is holding your nose in place to loosen up. That is why your surgeon will advise you firmly to keep water away from your face as long as possible until the splint can be taken off, usually 1 week out from surgery. This is of the utmost importance.

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  Před 2 lety +2

      The tape is not the only thing holding the rigid splint for my patients. Please consult with your own surgeon when it comes to recommendations. This video is not meant to replace instructions from your own surgeon and should not be construed in that manner.

Eye glasses can be worn while there is an outside cast or splint in place but cannot be worn for 6 weeks after the cast is removed to prevent shifting of the nasal bones and speed up resolution of the swelling around the nose.

      @FaceliftExpert  Před 3 lety

      Taping is helpful for molding the nose and reducing the swelling in the bridge of the nose. I will often use this in the first few weeks to months after surgery when there appears to be slight shift of the cartilage (bridge) over to one side or when there is excess swelling. It can be done improperly if not overseen by your surgeon. so if you think things have shifted then I would to your surgeon to see if they need to advise you on how you are taping.
