      It wasn't the peoples' choice. Brexit lies led to installing a puppet authoritarian government that repeatedly broke UK law and tried to break international law. There was a Stalinist-type purge of decent politicians by our "Glorious leader Johnson" leading to seriously mentally and empathy deficient people with track records of perversion, corruption, incompetence, and lying being appointed as MPs. You can see the result in the economic failures of the UK along with its loss of soft power, and five different Prime Ministers in 14 years.
      It's hard to clean such a toxic government when the've curtailed the right to protest, created so many problems (I think deliberately) to distract people from organizing a peoples' opposition as they are struggling with the largest tax burden for over 100 years, openly racist leadership, millions of people waiting for hospital treatment, deliberately created the largest number of asylum seekers ever with spiraling cost for accommodation to piss people off, given hundreds of billions of pounds to the wealthiest business and people, created the largest gap in inequality outside the US, spent most of their time working for themselves, and allowing energy prices to zoom upwards, bathing waters to be polluted with millions of gallons of turds and even allowed coliform to come out in the drinking water supply.
      That's only the start of it ... but there are a majority of decent people in the UK.

      Regarding 3:28, Ibn Kathir writes, “… believers who in some areas or times fear for their safety from the disbelievers… are allowed to show friendship to the disbelievers outwardly, but never inwardly.” Ibn Kafthir quotes Muhammad‘s companion, Abu Ad-Darda’, who said “we smile in the face of some people although our hearts curse them"

      Do they have the right to resist in the way they resisted on October 7th?

    • @sigi9669
      @sigi9669 Před 23 dny

      @@JamieTwells Short answer, yes. Under international law the October 7 attack was a justified act of armed resistance. Which is not to say that everything which happened on that day was legal. As there are clear indications that there were some individual fighters who committed unlawful acts.
      All the evidence which we've seen so far indicates that these illegal acts were not centrally coordinated. Meaning that any criminal proceedings will have to target individuals, not the organisation as a whole. In the same way any soldier committing unlawful acts in an otherwise lawful fight can be prosecuted.
      The taking of civilian hostages is murky. As this is technically illegal under international law. But any judge ruling on this will take into account the fact that Israel has been doing this for decades. And at any given time holds thousands of Palestinian civilians hostage. As Hamas took these hostages in an attempt to trade them for Palestinian civilian hostages, this won't likely weigh heavy on a possible verdict towards Hamas.
      To end on a sarcastic note: of the 1200 Israeli people who died on that day 700 were soldiers, and thus legitimate targets. Which puts the collateral damage split lower than one to one. Which, by Israelis stated metric, makes the al-Qassam brigades (Hamas' military wing) the most moral army in the world (Israel's words, not mine).

      Exactly. I lived there and he is absolutely hopeless as a constituency MP. Unfortunately, it is a safe Tory seat and he will be there until he chooses to resign.

    The usual gutless, shameful and pathetic spiel we’ve come to expect from representatives of this government on this topic.
    They really will defend Israel at all costs here, no matter what. Literally letting the abhorrent Netanyahu and his mates away with murder day after day.
    This has gone so far beyond the whole “self defence” argument it’s ridiculous.
