      @@HHung-pg3iw The difference between Bolt and Tyson in '09 wasn't the 1-2m you saw. It was the difference of their accumulated efforts over the distance. So if Tyson (9.71) wanted to catch Bolt (9.58), he would need to be faster over the whole distance and not just "catch up to those 2m", or "start faster".
      What matters is your rate of acceleration, that is how much you accelerate to the running phase, your maintenance, and how little you decelerate towards the line.
      A better start for Tyson here just means he gets into position sooner. Which may or not impact his overall run (since he expended more energy) which is what matters.

      @HHung-pg3iw Před 2 lety

      @@thecsciworker291 the hundredths of a second matters. If he was faster from the blocks maybe his starting phase would have been faster. There's a difference between doing everything right and doing some things right. What saved him was his top end speed. You can offer as many scientific facts as you want but have you ever competed in a 100m race before? There's so much more than just facts. Unless you've been in a world class race with elite sprinters you can never understand how its like in the heat of a race.

But, he truly played Russian roulette with his health because again, a groin strain, if not properly healed can lead to much more serious problems for an athlete. He tried to rest for a few weeks prior to Berlin, but then he lost some conditioning and strength training. I wish he hadn't showboated so much in those runs, particularly his 9.69 from Beijing as who knows what that time could have been had he run all out. Excellent run by Gay, he really takes off when he gets his hips under him. I think the key to him getting a better start is getting his hips forward right off the block rather than having such an aggressive lean at the waist. A compromise on the lean, that puts him in a better position to reach full extension on his first few strides would probably put him right there with bolt and powell off the start.

      @@SirMan48 no agree bolt was the best. especially his speed endurance, and he being taller legged required way less stride lengths to complete the one hundred metres than any top sprinter in history. basically bolt doesnt even have to turn over his legs as fast as the other sprinters, so bolt can achieve a higher top speed more easily, and definitely bolts top speed has been recorded as higher than anyone. when he broken the world record which is the current record for one hundred metres bolt was even slowing down at the end, plus bolt is notoriously bad starter. he normally doesnt lead the race until half way through which is when he nears tops speed, then he maintaining that top speed surges past the other runners in the last thirty-forty metres.

    Ingredientes:
    -6 ovos
    -250 g de açúcar
    -250 g de miolo de amêndoa moída com casca
    -150 g de chocolate preto (derretido em banho-maria)
    -350 g de doce de gila
    Liguei o forno a 180ºC. No meu forno levou 50 minutos. (Nesta receita não vale o palito, para ver se está cozido ou não. Pois o mesmo sai sempre húmido, pois o bolo é muito (húmido). O que vale é a vossa experiência...

Emphasizing form before strength/CNS is putting the cart before the horse. Efficient stride length and frequency (bit and reins) can have a dramatic effect on a strong athlete and proportionately less effect on a weak athlete. A jillion high-knee drills won't do much for a weak sprinter.
