Underworld being a vampire and werewolf movie makes me think that this was a hold over from a rewrite of that section of the video when they realize there weren't very many prominent werewolf films of that era
The First Two underworld films are pretty underrated, people think that is just resident evil with vampires and werewolves when clearly they had much more going for in the action, the effects, cinematography and the mythology! Not the peak of cinema necessarily but for an action horror experience they are pretty entertaining!
Yeah, 4 and 5 were kinda unnecessary and opened doors of magic when in first 3 movies they were trying so hard to have scientific reasoning behind the species evolution.
I'm a huge fan of this franchise but the later movies (with the exception of the prequel) needed Michael. We never got to see his full potential. Edit: I'd want to be a Lycan though. Raze was my guy! 💯

hell, even the X-Men were wearing monochromatic suits at the time. Shit seems wild now looking back, because we're gotten many examples of comic accurate costumes that actually look really good since those films came out.
I love Underworld (2003). It was something new, fresh, unique, inventive, stylish, cool, edgy, hip, and updated as they took the whole "Romeo and Juliet" concept and theme to a another level as it was absolutely and positivity constructed perfectly from the very beginning to the end. The story, performance's, music, action sequences, special effects, direction, and cinematography was spectacular and phenomenal. Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman did a phenomenal and spectacular job portraying Selene and Micheal Corvin as they both put tons of emotion and depth into their roles. It was decent. To this day I still watch it and I consider it a classic. It never gets old.😍😎💯👍
i very much like Underworld, its direct sequel Underworld: Evolution, and the prequel Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, but the last two... *sigh i treat those three as the complete trilogy
I've always been more into werewolves than I have vampires, so I thought the premise of this movie was pretty cool. I will say where they dropped the ball on this franchise was skipping over the Vampire/Lycan war. There should have been a movie about it after Rise of the Lycans. That was the story I really wanted to see. Lucian building his army, Kraven and the vamp troops invading, and how the they faked killing Lucian and Kraven's betrayal of Viktor. And more backstory with the Elders would have been cool to watch also.
I just rewatched this for the first time in like 15 years on 4k blu ray. It does borrow heavily from the matrix and some of the acting is bad, but I really like the lore and world building.
I actually love Underworld 2: Evolution even more, but 1 and 2 are fantastic! I don't agree with the critics on that review about the casting, but what do I know? Oh, I know - HOW TO BE ENTERTAINED! Thanks for the True Blood shout outs.
My biggest memory of this movie was the soundtrack. The return of Skinny Puppy!!! Danny Lohner of Nine Inch Nails doing alot of the tracks and remixes on it. It was a good one for sure.
I love your channel, but I really wish that it offered subtitled. Your accent is so thick that non-native speakers are having a rough time following the essays. At least I know I am.

Wow this takes me back. I was made aware of this beautiful series back in 2005 when me and my buddy were living the punkrrockN'roll life and he asked me to just up and go to California. The place we ended up crashing at had only the same 2 things to watch-Family Guy season 3, and Underworld. I wound up introducing it to another homie I wound up staying with for a while after my split w/ the ex in 2011-12. Funny it was almost the same scenario as in Cali as there was no cable/tv, so we'd watch Underworld (I had the 1st and 2nd by then), and instead of Family Guy we'd borrow the seasons of Big Bang Theory from his sister. But yea..I can't count how many times he'd put on Underworld. Personally I had the craziest experience whilst huffing glue with this movie on. 😵💫

Underworld is a great fantasy action saga of werewolves and vampires, it doesn't have the best script but I don't care much, the attraction of Underworld is the action, the lore of the saga is a very interesting one and Kate Beckinsale of course, for It had to remain as a trilogy as planned, that way it would have remained as films without decadence, the last two left the bar too low to want to see more, the problem with Underworld was wasting characters, be it the case of Lucian Michael and eve, there were very bad decisions, even so I still like it and well I know that soon they will do something new with the saga, I hope it is up to the task, replacing Kate Beckinsale will be quite a challenge, good video.

Well, there's vampires and werewolves hidden from the 'normal' world and having a secret war...but that's fairly par for the course and has been done A. Lot. It definitely isn't specific to Masquerade. The lore is completely different. Weird. A more cynical person might think they were taking advantage of the characters as they had broadly similar phenotypes in their fictional works that ripped off Dracula and wanted to make a quick buck, but what do I know?

This was when monochromatic outfits were the craze. I think it all started with The Crow, then The Matrix, Blade and this franchise.

Just rewatched the entire series again. Still one of my favorite franchises to this day and holds up as a exceptional supernatural thriller.

This movie is amazing I saw it when it premiered at the Toronto international film festival. The fan reaction to the audience was spectacular.

I Was So Excited For Underworld I Have This Movie On VHS And Now I Have The DVD Version Of Underworld And Underworld Sequel.
These movies were excellent and I was hoping for a 6th one to finish them out.

Gingersnaps was a werewolf film not a vampire flick.
Grevioux and the Underworld movies simply ripped off the White Wolf lore, just like True Blood did.
