Deer Skeleton animated by: Panimated Sonja
LYRICS:
Hit the knee - ow - heck, they're ready
S.O.N.'s SAT, how magenta are you?
Daddy, I owe Doc Luke a Mercedes
Barely up and I'm looking for jobs.
Yup, they been at your house already
Who, me? Sad? I'm last to hear
Yeah, they been at your house already
Who me? Fuck, I'm last to hear.
What a real woman won't mind
But don't be weird with me
I won't be weird with you
But I wanna be weird my way
It won't be my way
American always our way
What can I say?
In the band I put the key, cause I did my time
What can I say?
Your memory's no good, leave your clothes on
Our bodies crave a lot of things that end in loss
Don't try and turn this into something else,
Too late to change your mind this time and hit eject
Now that I'm here
I been wasting half my life
Right here is where my friends they used to live
Hit the knee - ow - heck, they're ready
S.O.N.'s SAT, how magenta are you?
Daddy, I owe Doc Luke a Mercedes
Barely up and I'm looking for jobs.
Who, me? Sad? I'm last to hear
Yeah, they been at your house already. Who the fuck?
I want my money back
That wasn't fun.
The bricks and the gravel and the mud and the blood
Another wild teenager in search of success, welcome to the jewel of the modified west
Now that I'm here, o-o-oh
I've been wasting half my life
Right here is where my friends they used to live...
-
I don't care anymore
I'd don't dare anymore.
Now that I'm here, where my friends they used to live
I don't care anymore, I'd dare anymore
That’s how they know, that's how they know,
"Calm down"
That's what they say, that's how they know

Would who ever took Julian's money give it back already? He's been singing about it for over a decade...
He is singing about his dad and he already died unfortunately or fortunately (? 🤔
How do you know?
@@GP-777 wtf r u talking about?
@@greenstartv6494 I think he's referring to Julian's regretful relationship with his father and how he did things (time and money related) for his father's sake. This being a large influence in a lot of his compositions from Tyranny and his stuff with The Strokes. Human Sadness is entirely based on this relationship and the regret of how things turned out by the time of his father's death, for example. When it Started is influenced by his father too (as an example from the strokes). There's plenty more, but you'll have to search it up on your own :)
@@JimNotCarrey okay buy his dad was super rich so idk how julian would ask him for his money back when julian was the one who borrowed money from his dad for music classes at five towns college, i thought he maybe referring to his record label that the strokes were signed with at first.
That deer skeleton run was majestic.
is glorious
can't wait for the day I have it tattooed

@@Fravs Yooo I have this tattooed on my forearm. Did you ever end up getting it?
The guitar riffs when the skeleton deer runs make me well up.

I swear i understood that feeling
It's powerful stuff
For some reason it's heartbreaking
I know what you mean, it feels really ethereal and emotional. This song gives me chills everytime - I love it.

I can't find a single band that sounds exactly like these guys. So many subgenres in just one album
Ocean Gateways Although there are many as good artist you are not alone in your observation, and may I say that Casablancas is a master of his craft.
This song in fact captures so much of the euphoric tragedy in its observation of mundanity

So many layers

You might like Embryonic by The Flaming Lips. Kinda similar sound.

georockable for sure lol

+Jhon Doe Finally, someone!!
Something about Jules’ voice makes me feel like I found a long lost treasure. I don’t want to tell anyone about it so I can be selfish and keep it all to myself.
I agree, his voice is amazing! Btw have you heard of The Unfortunate? It's a small growing band. I think their voices are pretty cool lol but nothing compared to julian's of course.
Same, I feel like the voidz are my secret treasure and pleasure ❤
Best song of Tyranny alongside Human Sadness.
agreed.
Hold up. I commented on this song 4 years ago and this year two people replied. I think that's amazing 🤣. But yeah this song is the best on this album.
Don't sleep on Father Electricity, Take Me in Your Army, Crunch Punch, Johan an Bronx.... the more I rattle these songs off the more I come to realize the Voidz are my favourite band.
@@songbird5842 yeah all songs are great in general. But those two songs that I've mentioned are my favourite
Too difficult to pick faves from this album, they're all amazing. This and Father Electricity are definitely in the top 5 though.
the whole song is good but THAT ENDING THO!
Literal chills. So good
first impression:
- wow, i love the arabic feel of the instruments
- is jules actually saying these words?
- sick chorus

First impressions of voidz
can't believe I've been sleeping on this song for so long, it's like Human Sadness on steroids
I love how he estranged the language so much it sounds "foreign".
If you listen very closely he is singing an arabic song called حبني او حب غيري
The actual lyrics he singing mean:
Love me or love someone else
You are only an imagination to me
Now you're wanting to know about my fate?
You have no place in my heart
Are you lying or being honest? Cause there is nothing better than the truth.
(I translated it from arabic obv) and the singer name is ahlam but the song got famous from a small girl named hala alturk she sang it in arab got talent !
@@ari1825 I love how you so carefully alloyed irony into your elaboration..And the bit with the small girl named hala(you didn't bother to capitalize which gave it that aura of proletariat authenticity)..this is pricelessly well played..I even continued to re-listen "closely" even after realizing the English lyrics are displayed here plainly for all to see. xD
Tmi Icon She wasn’t joking. czcams.com/video/-zVHCRrsce8/video.html the little girl, Hala, sings it in this video. The song starts at 2:37. Sounds exactly the same
Here is the actual song by Ahlam czcams.com/video/yVTtmv-YkME/video.html
It's called English.
I've lost count of all the times I've listened to this song in the past week, but words can't express how alive it's made me feel. I am literally so happy this exists!

Am I the only one who loves the outro? I'd love it if they made an alt version that way
2 years late but check out one way trigger by the strokes sounds exactly the same I think it’s the same progression

you should listen the outro (from 11:45 to the end) of Exist by A7x, in my opinion is very similar

I’m in the urgent need of a new voidz album 🙏
“Another wild teenager in search of success, welcome to the jewel of the modified west” - this really got me
Those last seconds are glorious
that "now that I'm here" part is divine
the chorus is a guitar solo
Julian is a genius, he made my life livable I swear they bring me back to life with these masterpieces
Julians Metamorphis to a darker flavor. I can't wait to see what other directions Julian goes. Though I like some things better than others, I can always appreciate the vibe that Julian brings to his music.
i hope he can (excuse my native english) take back the reins of the strokes. like the two albums. like their two best albums
The meaning of psychedelic indie rock
Watching the voidz play this live literally almost made me cry . I fucking love Julian !!!
Anagnorosis: the sense, through thrill of recognition, of having just caught up with a truth that was always waiting for you. -> Or, what I felt upon first hearing Dare I Care, that indescribable melodic bridge before and alongside “Now that I’m here...” Sense of something inexorable at hand.
Drang nach dem absoluten: “the drive towards the absolute”, or, the pushing and pushing of ideas until they reach what can then seem to reach an unavoidable, even seemingly predetermined end point. -> Or, *that* sound in Dare I Care’s chorus. A skeletal stag in flight, memories on a reel alongside you. How after my dad’s death, I’d retch when I tried to talk about it. Words caught in the throat, spasms of indignation and pain. Then, the lesson of sound, how the Voidz album Tyranny was, in part, a way for Julian Casablancas to cope with the death of his own dad. Sing when you don’t know how to say it. Some kind of soothing.
Then, this take by Karen O to Vice on Jules and The Voidz. “I’ve got to say, it was definitely a transcendent experience. It reminded me of when I went to see Brian Wilson perform Smile. It felt like you were jumping into the mind of some mad genius’s symphony. The ordered chaos of what’s going on alongside his raw emotion-which elevates it to this whole other level-it felt like he really found himself in this record and the way he presented it. Like there was some catharsis that happened and that’s what I was watching. It all made sense after seeing it live, something I felt went really underappreciated to be honest. It felt like watching history in the making. I felt so high after it.”
KO knows, man. She always knows. Remember your heroes. What I owe you, J.C., is beyond evaluation.
What a description!:) i wish to watch JC LIVE someday! But i will
lyrics been on the website since the dawn of time. Lyrics are important. This is a nice, nostalgic music video. I like the patterns, the skeleton and especially the radio at the end with the sound vibrating from it. That part is cool. Thank you, I enjoyed it. I love Tyranny and I cant wait to see what else y'all do together. All the songs are my fav but this song and Xerox are 2 of my favorite songs from the album. I'm happy JC and the Voidz came together to make music with the visual aesthetic they use. Im loving it from every angle. Thank you for all of it. More, please.
Jesus when that riff hits... nothing hurts for a while
Your Memorys No Good, Leave Your Clothes On.. Our Bodies Crave Alot Of things that End In Lose. These lyrics hit me to my soul
"I don't care anymore, I don't dare anymore". Wow. Amazing writing
This is my 100% favorite track with Julian Casablancas on. I can't get enough, prolly the only track in the world I've re-heared over the years without ever getting tired of it.
yeah right?
For me it's Human sadness, it's been my #1 on Spotify for straight 5 years now

One of the guitar solos sounds like One Way Trigger from Comedown Machine.
The part where the chorus comes in followed by that riff is like entering the eye of a hurricane
Guys, Im arabic and I can confirm the first part of the song is from an actual arabic song by Ahlam, the song is called "حبني او حب غيري" which means love me or go love someone else.
You can go listen to it and hear it sounds THE EXACT same!!!

I met Julian and The Voidz twice. One of the times, I had told Jeff about the similarity between this song and One Way Trigger. He said he was somewhat familiar with the song, so he knew what i was talking about. I asked him if the reference was intentional or not, and he said no, it was a coincidence because he said Jacob wrote that riff. And he wasn't aware of One Way Trigger to his knowledge.
Just an interesting tidbit.
a masterpiece
Getting One Way Trigger vibes.
it's the same chord progression

I just randomly clicked in this track and never expected it to be like this lmao.
I hope the Voidz releases another set of songs soon because I really need it rightnow. This song means everything to me.
Favorite track on the album!
The music sounds Arabic but the sung parts sound like Hindi. This coming from someone whose first language is Hindi and has grown up in an Arabic country.

Julian blurs the pronunciation of words sometimes makes them sound like Hindi accent. It's no secret they're inspired from Middle Eastern and Indian music.
