Strickland vs. Whittaker for a number #1 contender fight as the co-main for 305 would be perfect. If thats too soon then make it a fight night main event in September. Lets be real whoever wins in 305 determines who gets the shot. If Dricus wins it should be Whittaker but if Izzy wins it should be Sean. Instead of hearing Sean and his fans wine about why it should be him they should just book the number 1 contender fight.

You don’t know what a hype train is. He was a short notice opponent for the fighter that needed one that so happened to be in the main event spot. Nobody talked about this fight like there was “hype” to it. Nobody else wanted to fight a former world champion in the given time slot they had to fly across the globe/pay for an entire team/and fight a trained killer who had months of preparation. Dana white was giving his fighter the respect he deserved for stepping up to that plate. Nobody was “hyped” for this, nor has anybody been screaming for ikram aliskerov to be on a big stage let alone get a title shot and become a world champion in the ufc. Most of everybody outside of the Muslim community have never even heard the name ikram aliskerov in their life. You don’t know what a hype train is.
Ikram wasn't really a hype train. He was seen as dominant against lower level opponents but noone really knew what his ceiling was. Khamzat on the other hand IS the overrated hype train who's best wins are small welterweights or someone who isn't a natural middleweight.. he's yet to fight a single real top 5 middleweight.
Lol. You sound like a casual, bud. He was definitely a hype train. Dana didn't have much of a choice in the matter at the last minute. Doesn't change the fact that it was still the wrong move to make at the end of the day. He's fought the same level opponents as Khamzat before and after entering the UFC. People were afraid to fight him too apparently. Also hasn't padded his record unlike a certain popular bantamweight. The UFC and the MMA community have been hyping him up for almost a year; almost as bad as they did Khamzat. It's understandable to a certain extent. The problem is that they had him against a high level former champ *way* too soon instead of someone like Imavov.

It would have been the wrong move to take out a highly respected former world champion in the main event regardless of who the opponent was, to be replaced with a bout that was scheduled for 3 rounds. (which would have turned into another 5 round heavyweight fight night). Meaning It also would have been the wrong move to have the first ever event in Saudi Arabia with Sergei pavlovich and Alexander volkov as the main event. Ikram’s former opponents’ skills have nothing to do with him not being/being a hype train (except for losing to khamzat who *is* a hype train who *was* supposed to be in the main event spot to begin with) This is the “hype” you’re referring to that isn’t there. It’s not that he was hyped up by the fans. Or the “mma community” (which is too broad of a term to say, the mma community is everyone who watches/supports mma which all have different opinions on different fighters and promotions beyond just ufc) It’s that he was used as an example by the ufc and when the roles got reversed so did the narrative. Instead of him getting knocked out cold by khamzat, it was that at least he’s fought someone like khamzat and gave khamzat one of his toughest fights. Here are some fighters who people don’t want to fight but aren’t on a “hype train” Assu Almabayev, Daniel Zellhubar, Vinicius Oliveira, Farid Basharat, and Kyler Phillips. all very skilled fighters that a casual might not know of. In case you don’t know who they are, a few more would be like Jailton Almeida, Magomed Ankalaev, Movsar Evloev, etc. Same thing with Ikram, he’s incredible, but not hyped up. It’s ok to sound like a casual, I’m just happy I’m not one.
