  • We were so excited to head to the beach after the best week in Ubud, but when we arrived things went from bad to worse.
    We couldn't even bring ourselves to film the first day we arrived as we were just processing what to do next!
    Luckily, things turned around and now we're looking forward to the rest of our time in Sanur - I really hope we enjoy it here!

    Personally me after 14 solo trips, I tend to spread my holiday (usually 10 nights) between Kuta/Legian, Sanur and Ubud. I rarely stay more than 3 nights in one place - there is so much choice in accommodation to pick from - for me it's part of the adventure. I've had good and bad rooms - price has little to do with that. I've asked for room changes and left hotels before as well - that's bali for ya.. I remember after my first trip that I had no desire to return, but come time to use up my annual leave, I could think of no better place (5 hours away from Adelaide), cheap food etc

    Totally agree about the accommodation, basic can be fine if mostly for sleeping but at a minimum should be clean! Glad it worked out for you guys! Great vid! 👍

    unpopular opinion but i'm with you when it comes to hanging out at the hotel pool vs the beach a lot of the time! i can imagine especially so with a toddler in tow. i always try to swim in the ocean for at least part of the day but often spend more time lazing by the pool - so much comfier with all the amenities nearby, no need to worry about the waves, can duck back to your room for the bathroom if you want, and you dont need to lug 10,000 items down to the beach with you. i guess thats the beauty of travelling though! loving these videos :) cant wait to see whats next

      @goodforgaia  Před rokem

      Totally agree! At home the beach was easier too because we would just fill the car with towels, clothes, toys, snacks, but definitely so much harder when you’re travelling. We have been loving how easy the pool is and Gaias swimming is improving so much! Thanks so much for watching and commenting, glad we’re not alone haha

    Emerald Villas are the best away from busy foot and motor traffic. I love Sanur for surfing and the food. I don’t think it’s the best swimming beach however still Beautiful

    Glad you found somewhere better to stay! Definitely wouldn’t have managed to stay there if I was in your position! I’m not fantastic at cleaning but that’s too yuck for me! Are most of the Bali waters not safe for swimming?

    • @goodforgaia
      @goodforgaia  Před rokem

      I think they are definitely safe to swim , but we saw a sea urchin (which is dangerous), and there was so much rubbish and animal poop on the sand, it didn’t feel clean, and Gaia still picks everything up/puts things in her mouth, so we’d have to be on super high alert. I think with a toddler we just found the pool at the hotel so so so much easier!

    like another who commented .. we have been going to Sanur for over 35 years and from NZ.. we have never found the people pushy, we have always found them courteous and friendly... defifnitely thats why we chose Sanur and not Kuta Legian etc.

      @goodforgaia  Před rokem

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I’m sure you’re right that those areas are very different! There’s just been such a lack of tourists so I suppose they are all just wanting the business. I definitely feel for the locals as so many bars and restaurants were just totally empty (felt like the majority). Not sure if it’s always been that quite, this is of course just our experience ☺️

      We moved to Nesa Hotel Sanur and we paid 390,000 IDR a night (roughly $42 NZD). Highly recommend, it was lovely! Check out our $50 a day video though, we share what we got for $50 (staying at that hotel plus lunch/dinner!) ☺️

  • @seasidekreations-australia

    Seriously Ubud more laid back and sellers less pushy. I have been to Bali 13 times in the last 8 years, have had 13 stays in Sanur and 3 in Ubud, last trip being only a few days ago. Ubud is hectic, sellers very pushy, what was lovely accommodation is now run over by stuck up yoga heads and very run down. Sanur on the other hand has never failed to impress me, much friendlier locals and loads of budget to higher priced accommodation. You need to do proper research and read reviews for accommodation so you don't end up in a dump, you also in most cases get what you pay for. I am going to Sanur again next trip in October, l won't be bothering with Ubud again. There is nothing wrong at all with the beaches in Sanur either.

      Hi Kerrie, thank you so much for your comment - I'm sure this will be really helpful for people planning a trip! We spent 12 days in Sanur in total. We really loved Ubud and Canggu, but there is so much more to explore and will definitely try and go to the islands on our next trip!

      @@goodforgaia In 13 trips I still haven't seen all of Bali, each trip I add a new place. SWtayed in Sanh8ur, ever4y trip, sayed in Legian (for shopping) at the end every trip, have stayed in Canggu (lovely but won't again as too many snobsby bule for my liking lol), stayed in Uluwatu area a few times, Lovina and Candidasa once each, Amed once so far, Tanah Lot once, Cucukan once & Ubud 32 times. Last trip my new place was Lombok, 3 nights there was totally not enough andf plan to go back there again soon. I've been to Nusa Lembgngan & Nusa Ceningan 3 times, love both islands, been to Gili Trawangan & Gili Air 3 times also, love Gili Air to relax and enjoy the beaches but loved swimmming off the beach and seeing turtles in Gili Trawangan. Been to Nusa Penida once so far, will go back again, so beautiful. 13 trips and I haven't even really scratched the surface.
