I have interview schedule for October. But in DS160, i gave tenataive dates of travel as September.. so will that be an issue.. I couldn't get an appointment in September..

In the interview, make sure to give a definite date, tell them you were flexible with the dates but if you get the visa, you are ready to travel in lets say November first week. Something like this. You can let them know you did not get visa dates for the preferred dates but are flexible for travel dates

I want to give an exam in usa and that exam is only conducted there. no where else. and it's necessary to take and pass that exam to apply for dental school in usa and I want tourist visa for the same. should I be honest and tell them about exam or say I'm visiting my college friend who's in the USA. also I'm not married and not working. I want to pursue dentistry in the usa. should I be honest or no

Even if you clear the exam, you may be denied the entry as a student later because they will know you lied the first time. I suggest finding the right visa category, check with the US embassy in India and apply with only the relevant category, not b1/b2

@@shreyamahendru_ thankyou for the prompt response, mam. yes , I don't want to be dishonest in the interview, hence my reply to purpose of visit is going to be I have to give an important exam to apply to dental schools and if I get accepted I'll be applying for student visa.
Right now my priority is attempting and passing the exam. For that there's no suitable visa since other usa visas are about either work, or already a student in usa, or spouse related. For giving an exam i would need tourist visa only. (correct me if I'm wrong).
i have a friend there as well who's living since 2020 in usa with her husband and I have given her contact and address in my d160 form.
I'm not sure if there's any other visa just to go and give exam. hence i applied for tourist one. because it's a temporary visit. if I get accepted then I'll apply for other ones.
it might not be easy but fingers crossed, i get approved. thankyou 😊

@@realcricketera8350 well man, I got declined. My country has probably the lowest acceptance rate next to north Korea. During my stay at the embassy, I literally only saw one foreigner get accepted.
