When it comes to Neo-Soul chords learning extended chords and interesting voicings is a top priority.
Now, learning a single chord isn't going to take you far. For example, if you learn how to play this lovely C#m11 chord, it can be helpful to know it, but if you don't know how to put it into practice, then it's just another that you will easily forget.
In this video, I am going to show you how to play five Neo-Soul chords and how to play a chord progression.
If you don't know what Neo-Soul music is, listen to artists like D'Angelo, Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu.

You can definitely get those if you search for classical guitar videos. Or take a class. That is how they teach in the music world. It's academic. These neo soul / modern jazz genres were developed without music theory as it is in classical music , that's why you will often see this.
Neo-Soul just hits different
Hits different than what? These type of cords have been around forever since the Jazz days they just put a different groove to it is all.

Finally, just what my guitar playing needed, something fresh and new
bro you're the GOAT for this. I've gotten really comfortable with basic minor and major 7th chords, trying out different progressions and counting the scale degrees. Was looking for a video to go up a level and add some chord shapes to my repertoire and this was it!! That minor/major 9 and the 11 were exactly what I was looking for. Already starting to mix them up with the chords I already know and it's sounding beautiful. Can't thank you enough man, liked and subbed!

Very helpful to see the finger position info on the screen!! This is the first video I’ve watched on CZcams that didn’t make me have to pull out my chord chart and try to figure out the finger positions that were being played!! Learning on CZcams can be extremely difficult because some people who create training videos have good ideas but they are executed poorly making for a bad learning experience.
