  • We had an accident with our Star link Dishy and ended up modifying what was left to have a permanent flat mount Starlink. That we don't have to setup every time! This will be helpful to not run it over again.

I put mine on top of a plastic tub with a yellow lid or put something easy to see next to it to help avoid doing this. I know it would be easy to run over them because unless your looking at the front they aren't that easy to see.

Lol not a bad idea. Just a dumb mistake because we were rushing and not paying attention 🤦

Nice fix! You basically just made yourself the in-motion receiver. If you can keep the Starlink router powered while on the road, you should get pretty decent reception in the truck cab. As the Starlink mesh continues to densify with more birds in orbit, the flatness will become less of an issue with reception. Obviously, no rustic, tree covered campsites for you till you get a second Dishy. Jordanna, I definitely like your logo graphic! Safe travels to you!

Thank you! yes we have a second dishy for those shaded sights or diffrent situations, but honestly with our solar we tend to be in the sun or open to the sky anyways.

    Pretty clever save.
We have our Starlink on a pole that attaches to our ladder. Mostly it works well, but we’ve been it 2 campgrounds where trees blocked it.
I don’t know how important internet is for you, but we also carry a T-mobile and a Verizon 5G Home internet. 2 separate systems. Both work in different areas, and usually one works wherever we are. Sometimes we get speeds over 500mbps. They are not supposed to be mobile units, and are for home use. They aren’t available in all areas. Both need to be activated where they are ordered to. Anyway, they almost always keep us from having to set up the Starlink for overnights. I think one is $50/month, and the other is $55. Right now the Starlink is at 135mbps and the Verizon box is over 260mbps. The T-mobile box doesn’t work here.

Glad you found a way to keep yours safe lol. We need internet a lot but we haven't been in a situation yet where the starlink has been blocked.
And yes we did end up getting a campground for the winter.

@@FindingLifesAdventure the end. Did you use magnets or suction cups to attach it to your rv roof? It looked like big magnets.

Oh! Those were spacers. It’s screwed to the roof, then sealed around the bolts and under the spacers

Thanks it’s been a while since we did this but I think it was PVC. But don’t quote me on that. I talked with a few plastics people before I did it trying to figure out what would be the most impervious to water
