  • I make French people pronounce difficult English words! It's simple, the rule is they have to be 100% French to participate. Then, I show them a series of hard English words and they have to attempt to say them out-loud. Thats it!

As a native English speaker who has studied French, I think “choir” looks like a French word, and I can’t blame them for pronouncing it the way they did. I’m surprised they didn’t all comment on how the spellings of English words often seem to have no relation to their pronunciation. By the way, the last word is spelled wrong, at least on the screen. There is only one “h” in the word “psychotomimetic.”

Just remember, in most native English-speaking cultures, it is considered extremely rude and ignorant to judge someone for making mistakes in English.
I've traveled a lot, and I really didn't like about 30% of French people I met in France as they would judge you harshly for not speaking French and extremely harshly for mispronouncing French. That being said, there were tons of kind/smart/friendly French people, many kinder/friendlier than most groups I have met. They just have a significantly large asshole population.

I have so much respect for the French people. As an American visiting overseas, I did my very best to learn, speak, and respect their beautiful language, but they would go above and beyond if I struggled (and genuinely politely, with no snarky backhandedness) usually help out by speaking with me in English afterwards, while still encouraging me in a positive way to continue learning French. I have nothing but nice things to say about the people I met there.🙂
