It’s funny cause the way I remember it….she first posted videos without all the wild makeup of just singing or dancing and it was funny. Yeah it probably was making fun of autistic people but I’m autistic and I found it funny. But had she just kept it at that…adults would watch her. Maybe kids too..which in that case would be fine. Kids would specifically plan ahead to wear outfits for them so she would pick them to come up on stage. You mentioned that but it wasn’t just for the Netflix show :,)
This is what I don’t understand, why was this seen as ok for so long. Parents would take their kids to the shows so they would see what happened in them. But it’s only now that people are coming out and saying that it was inappropriate. She’s been doing live shows for like 15 yrs and the longer she did this weird content, the more ok she thought it was bc she didn’t get any major backlash for it for so long.

I'm sure things have got past me. I try my best. I've watched hours and hours of several CZcamsrs and tok tok "stars" my daughter was obsessed with when she was younger - even gone to live shows and paid for her to have meet n greets with DanTDM - Miranda Sings was successfully so fricking intolerable that I only saw a few snippets. The bits I saw just happened to be kid friendly but horrendously stupid. Fortunately my daughter only talked about her for about a week when everyone at school was talking about her (so she was cool for five minutes,) and she'd moved on the next week. Someone being unbearable isn't a good enough excuse for me not to have been more aware of her overall content, but these people know that parents are busy and tired and working hard and they slide right in at the right moment - someone having a bloody irritating voice was enough for me to leave the room and start cooking tea. Again, not an excuse, parenting fail, but there it is

Pacifying then with an iPad..the parents who take their kids to a full on “comedy” show for a lady who’s content they haven’t previewed. We can only hope this kind of thing will be a wake up call.

I remember when my daughter use to watch her! She had Jojo Siwa on a show with her so I didn't think anything of it till her "haters back off" series came out and dont think we made it past the beginning. After that I noticed everything to be too weird and never allowed her to watch again.
Even though my daughter was too young to understand the content it was too creepy for even me.

I never thought the Miranda Sings character was supposed to be aimed at children... I honestly don't think when Colleen started doing it with the thought that kids would be her audience. I always thought that that was made very clear by not only the incest jokes, but the fact the whole Miranda persona is/was making a mockery of how naive and innocent kids are, and just taking to another level with the weird sexual humor....
Miranda is supposed to mean, crude, ignorant, and just gross. I've met people like this in real life and they're not pleasant....
So when her audience became to be mostly made up of children, this is where Colleen went wrong... like she acknowledged over and over that Miranda was extremely inappropriate and that kids shouldn't be watching, but on the other hand completely leaned into it... The theory I've recently had rolling around in my head is.... it's almost as if she was "friends" with all of these kids to gather material, see what she could get away with saying and doing to these kids, and what their reactions would be or what kind of innocent responses she'd get from the kids, that she could then twist and make the innocent remarks into something nasty for Miranda to regurgitate....
Not only that, "Miranda" got away with everything, and being that Collen has said multiple times she uses Miranda to say what she's really thinking all the time... she got too comfortable, she figured she'd been doing it this long, why care what you do and say to minors...

Here's the bigger question: WHY WEREN'T THERE ANY PARENTS WALKING OUT WITH THEIR CHILDREN? The fact that nobody was leaving with their kids is even more alarming.
I personally never watched Miranda Sings growing up when she was in her prime like a decade ago because I always found something incredibly strange about her and now I understand why. I swear to God if I was 10 years old at that show with my parents, they would've taken me and left no hesitation after the first few minutes of the constant inappropriate "jokes". This just goes to show that she got away with this crap for so long due to the fact that so many people lacked morals. It's truly disturbing.
Her brother, Chris, wrote haters back off, hes a daddy family vlogger with like 5 young children (some of who were put into the show) and Jessica, Chris's wife, was in the group chats with fans and didnt say anything, I feel like people should be worried about them as well

The show was incredibly painful to watch but can we talk about how insanely toxic the book was?? And its called "self help". Basically she said tie your husband to you by having a baby and then grooming that baby to become a slave..

I really am surprised that parents didn't do something about her a long time ago. Just after the first "joke" I would have had my child out of there. That's if I had never seen her videos to begin with which I would have and not let my child of any age go to her shows.
I mean I’m sure parents DID say things, but her fandom were children and didn’t really care. If you search any inappropriate CZcamsrs there’s hundreds of parents saying they are awful for kids
Parents did complain and walk out. Parents do this all the time. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a big effect.

I think there’s sample pages of the book that you can read on the Internet without having to purchase expensive things. Also yeah, she’d sing Defying Gravity at almost all of her shows I think. I don’t know what it is; crazy women and singing that song.
