I was fortunate enough to see MS Horn “The Lady and Her Music” at Caesars Lake Tahoe in 1983, she sung every song she knew for two solid hours, I met her after the show , when she stuck her hand to shake mine she said “I don’t believe we’ve met” As I shook her hand I said “It’s so great to meet you but I am nobody” and she said, still holding my hand, she said “Child everybody in this world is somebody and don’t you ever forget it”. There are also many white southerners who has mixed race BLACK ANCESTRY according to recent reports that range between 1% 0 27 % with the dichotomy racial dividing line starting at 28%, however, those whites don't go around acknowledging that part of their Black ancestry, and in fact they strongly DENY it.. I think that it is quite disrespectful to all LIGHT SKIN Black people whose both parents are simply light skin and give birth to beautiful ight skin Blacks who WHITE FOLKS WANT TO TAKE CREDIT FOR THEIR BEAUTY, and ignorant Black people encourages that nonsense. In Louisiana many light skin men and women were encouraged to marry among themselves for may generations, and they don't have any knowledge about any white ancestry in their families. Many light skin Blacks like Lena Horne and even myself are usually more mixed looking than the so-call "Biracial" children who have one white race and a dark skin Black race person as their parents. Many Biracial people are brown skin with softer hair, while "UNMIXED" light skin Blacks look sort of Arabic and can have woolly hair with completely different facial features that looks 1000% times better than white folks who always want to claim them, same as they want to claim ancient Egyptians like Queen Nefertiti, and even claim that Ethiopians and Somalians are Caucasians. The Black race has many different phenotypes, and we all don't have to look like Chaka Zulu, Idi Amin, Robert Mugabe for us to be Black.. As person labelled as blk, she’ll be undergoing all kinds of macro and micro prejudices. Her husband didn’t jump to her defence, because he is yt and at the end of the day, that’s where his true loyalty stands. This is interesting because when I heard this situation, I thought in hat moment she was 100% a blk woman because she had to defend herself and nobody came to her aid, as far as we know. I thought the husband was yt and sticking to his side, but if he was blk then it’s just classic situation of a blk man not defending his blk woman, who isn’t really blk anyway 🤯. The complexity if everything! I think you’ll find that most people agree if a man is a man he will protect a woman and his children to the end of the earth. The funny thing that happened was she came down after the show to the lobby floor, she had on this all white two piece really cute little outfit and she didn’t look African American at all I’m African-American and so was my classmate she came out after the concert into the hall after she changed clothing and walked up to me and the girls name with Carol and said how did you girls like the show and me looking at her thinking who is this lady because she looked totally different close up rather then on the stage but she had this big beautiful smile and bubbly personality I said well you know it’s a lot better than we thought it was going to be we didn’t think we were going to like it but we actually loved it and she was like great and I looked over at my friend Carol an her mouth was hanging open wide. So I turned around and I looked at her again and I said you’re not, no you’re not, oh my God you’re Lena Horne and we all cracked up laughing and I said I’m sorry I didn’t recognize you off stage and she said oh I thought you guys were just to stuck up little kids. Once again, I always seem to have a connection to the great people here you review. So here goes for this one- When I was a very young interior designer in a retail furniture store, Lena Horne came in with an entourage looking for a large white sofa and other
Art Deco inspired furniture that she could get soon without long delivering times. Sadly, my co-workers had to tell me all this
since Monday was my usual day off and that's when Lena came. My co-workers also told me Lean was wearing a huge oval emerald with
diamonds bordering it. They all knew emeralds were my favorite. I'm still mad that I didn't get to see this great beauty in person wearing my
favorite gemstone. By the way, the store didn't have Lena's style of furniture. She left without purchasing.
When the owner heard this, we all had a meeting with a new rule that if a star of this magnitude ever comes into the store again,
we must get the owner to work with them. We did have a lot of star athletes coming in, but no one close to Lena's stature ever again.
Thanks again Karine, for another great video!
