- The engines were sad. It was the day of the Fifteen Guinea Special and as the day was coming to an end, so too was the steam era. While BoCo understood James and Henry’s feelings he also told them that diesels are the future, and that statement made the two engines cross towards him. The next day, Edward was missing, and Henry and James had assumed who the culprit might be.

Now that was a story I wasn't expecting. Henry, James and Boco being cross with each other. I cannot believe both James and Henry got cross with Boco and then accused him of wrong doing. The blue wheel from Douglas's train made me think of 'Edward & the Cabbages'. Nice to see Edward sorting things out at the end :) .
Wow, what a dramatic story! I never thought, that James and Henry would be furious with BoCo, for talking out about the future! But then I see James changing his ways about diesels is foreshadowed at the end.

Hearing Henry say “Piss off” made me laugh. I love it.
I’ve been interested in the end of steam stuff with BR a while now with the Fifteen Guinea Special, surprised I haven’t seen TTTE fans doing much with it and I’m sure the NWR engines would be sorrowful about the end during 1968 but still being supportive to the Mainland steam engines. Too bad 44781 is no longer around unlike 44871 45110 and 70013 Oliver Cromwell and it’s nice that the Vale of Rheidol tanks were the only BR steam engines that still got to operate after the end.

Didn’t think I’d see a Thomas story based around the end of steam on the Mainland! But I really enjoyed it!
