Since I got the car, I knew it needed to be lowered 1-2 inches, and we finally did it! I went with the H&R Sport lowering springs that add a 1.3 inch drop front and rear. These really do drop it to the perfect height for daily driving. I can get in and out of my driveway and over speed bumps with no issues. I found these to be pretty difficult to install. I followed ShopDAP's video and being mechanics, they make it look easy but I had a ton of trouble wrestling the front hub sleeves to get the struts in and out.
Otherwise, I'm super happy and will make a more detailed impressions video in the future!

The passenger side seemed a little harder in general to do. driver side was a piece of cake. If you ever have to do any strut work again definitely recommend it though!

I changed springs and struts/shocks on my Skoda Rapid which is essentially VW Polo Mk5 Sedan. It took me one and half days to do the front. Real pain in the ass because you can't get the struts out without fucking around for hours and it was equally painful getting them back in. All beacuse I did not want to dismantle everything. Rear? One and half... hours, both sides combined.

Could you possibly grab a part number off your springs (not the box, the actual spring) and let me know what it is? I bought one recently and it has H&R springs on it that I'm almost CERTAIN are not GTi sport springs and are instead for something like an Alltrack because they wanted to get lower. The box says the correct part number for the sport spring but the spring in the rear I can see the part number does not say the same thing and it instead has a number like 28840 which when you Google it...comes up closer to an Alltrack/Sportwagen part number (28840-4).
I just want to make sure, they're coming off the car soon and will be sold but I want to know what they actually are haha.
Looks great (as does your NC as usual), and I hope you can help. At least ONE of those springs has to be easy enough to see a part number on it without jacking it up haha. 🙏

I just installed H&R springs on my Mk 7.5 and they were wobbly, like didn't fit at all in the front, the spring was literally loose on the struts, anyway I bought APR sport springs & they feel great, super sharp, a little less stiff than H&R but more stiff than stock. My bf installed the H&Rs on his A3 and they got perfect, do you have any explanation for why they wouldn't fit on my GTI but they fit great on his A3?

To lower my GTI but I’m not sure if it would be a bad for the snow. Even though we don’t get a lot of snow like other states, we might see 2 or 3 days during the winter of 4 to 6 inches of snow usually, my question is would I still be able to drive the GTI without getting stuck in the snow.

Always an interest when enthusiasts choose to lower the ride height w/o taking into account the other components that complement the drop (i.e. adjustable end links). It's great for a vehicle that is a dedicated to the track, but for street driving; lowering has it's future costs.
