  • Scott articulates the difference between meditation an Self-inquiry to add clarity to the insight that Self-realization can never be obtained from an outward looking practice. This is nonduality, Advaita Vedanta.

    Scott Flynn's Bio:
Scott expedites Self-realization* by utilizing the perennial philosophy of Nonduality (Advaita Vedanta) to point you back to yourSelf, so for you to experience-directly the ever-present peace, happiness and love of yourSelf. Scott’s nondual understanding originates from current teachers such as Rupert Spira and Michael James, but primarily from the 20th Century sages Sri Ramana Maharshi, Sri Muruganar and Sri Sadhu Om. Yet Scott’s greatest inherent-understanding comes from thousands of hours of Self-inquiry.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Idaho and is a Founder and former CEO of two Certified Benefit-Corporations (B-Corps).
*The paradox is that you are already Self-realized (Jnana) and that the expediting is nothing more than dissolving the veil of Self-doubt (ignorance) that keeps you from the truthful knowledge of yourSelf.

Great video! I agree with what you’re saying here. The ego is a back door machine! It is the slickest trickster ever created

The real profound piece of it all is when it is seen with 100% conviction that the ego never existed.

so meditation and self inquiry is different ,if so what is self enquiry? And self inquiry is the way to it?

To me it’s semantics. Self enquirer, is the tool of meditation, turned within. Necessary with language, so no critism. 🙏

There is a very profound difference between the two: 1. Meditation is the focusing of awareness (focusing of Awareness is also called your attention) on and object such as your mind in mindfulness, the sound in chanting, the inner voice in mantras, your breath in breathwork, your energy centers in chakras meditation; compared to 2. Awareness focusing on itself (aka: Awareness attending to nothing but itSelf). 1. keeps you in duality, while 2. it is nondual experience of Being. Here is another video I put together explaining the two. czcams.com/video/UxZ20uoUIWQ/video.html

Agreed. We can call these two practices what ever we like, but it seems that to be the clearest, especially when first getting started, to make the distinctions simple/clear/obvious they can be split into these two terms. Once there is clarity you can call them what you like. 🙏

12:14 aware of the mind. Yet the mind only does what it wants to do. Awareness can only watch right? Does Awareness control the mind?

Thank you for your inquiry. 🙏
A mind is not aware of itself, it is You-Awareness that are aware of your mind. So don't worry about what your mind is doing, just turn your attention onto your Awareness and it will answer all your questions.

@@loveoutpouring thank you for your reply 🙏🏼
I is just blank and observing. Attention is part of awareness? Not the mind?

    • @loveoutpouring

Correct, Awareness is not the mind, and attention is the focusing of Awareness.

...neither does advaita....only for the very few per the Gita. Advaita is spiritual mind candy for most seekers...especially Westerners. Good luck.

    • @loveoutpouring
      @loveoutpouring  Před 11 dny +1

You are correct. Even in the end Advaita and the Gita have to be abandoned as false-knowledge, in which all that remains is yourSelf alone. 🙏

@@loveoutpouring all knowledge is temporary, but while we're embodied the right knowledge can help us orient....just don't fall in love with the knowledge. The challenge with advaita teaching in the West is that novice seekers get exposed to this kind of teaching and can end up deconstructing before they have oriented...which can lead to spiritual nihilism or McSpirituality. Most Westerners are therefore not operationally ready for this kind of teaching and because of this it has the potential to do more harm than good in the hands of neophytes.

I would agree that neo-Advaita can lead to confusion, but the pure-knowledge of Advaita Vedanta spoken and taught by the great Sages of India will lead you straight to your Heart. ❤️

@@loveoutpouring An efficacious meditation practice can be helpful to experience the teaching. In reference to meditation Nisargadatta said a little "house cleaning" is a good idea. What is being pointed to is beyond experience. But that does not rule out meditation as a departure point or "diving board".
