    In today’s video I will explain why and how I use Filmconvert to grade my work.
    Recently a lot of you have asked me to talk about my color grading process,
    and since my last video was made 2 years ago I thought now would be a good time to make another one.
    Hopefully this is helpful to you.
    Let me know if you have any questions :).

    The great thing about FC is the grain, as you say a few times yourself. But I've read that if you upload your movie to CZcams, there's nothing left of the grain, because YT isn't happy about that. Correct or do you have a method to show it anyway?

    • @OfTwoLands
      @OfTwoLands  Před 2 lety

      I have never done anything special to avoid CZcams's way of dealing with it. I have heard of it but haven't really noticed an issue on my footage :). CZcams's compression kinda messes up everything and anything really haha !!

    • @Fedorevsky
      @Fedorevsky Před 2 lety

      @@OfTwoLands I have found that as long as one uploads to 4K and the grain is the size of 35 or Super 35mm it works fine with CZcams compression. That's been my experience. With 16mm grain either from FC or using overlays the compression will sometimes smear it and you end up with a softer image with less pronounced grain, sometimes even ugly compression artifacts depending on the grain and footage. Darker scenes tend to suffer the most.

    Filmconvert will only color grade the footage. Converting a digital footage to a film footage EXACTLY requires frame to frame temporal emulation also. Like motion blur emulation etc.

  • @gregrebuck3585
    @gregrebuck3585 Před rokem

    Personally, though I think film emulation adds to the cinematic look I don't find the "grain" to be an absolutely necessary part of that. The only time I would really want to "ADD" grain is when trying to make the footage like it was truly shot at another time period. That's just me. I also think SLO-MO is waaaaaaaaaaaay overused and has become a lazy way to give the idea of smoothe footage. Lastly, though I'm guilty of using shallow depth of field a lot I am paying attention to its overuse now as well. We all have the tools but let's use them and not OVERUSE them.
