- The early spring garden tour is SOOO two months ago. It's hard to believe how much the garden has grown in such a short period of time-and something new is blooming every day. We'll take you through a full front garden tour-right before the next rain!

Peace Sander and SRO. What a great transformation you have done with the property. Truly wonderful. I can see myself having many lazy moments after work and training in a place like this.
You're one of my favorite CZcamsrs. So happy you are doing what you are doing. Can't wait for the in depth video with the Bee Guy. Hope he writes his dissertation on your insects. And so happy to hear you're protecting vulnerable species
We would have him over every day if he were up to it! Literally having someone come to ID bees was on the bucket list and it presented itself without us sleuthing!
I live in San Diego, California and I love watching garden tours from the same time of year around the world. It's so cool to see which plants can grow in different zones and to see some plants I've never heard of before. Keep the updates coming!
Well thank you so much for watching. I feel the same way. Love the expression of plants in different zones and different parts of the world.
Wow. I love the transformation. I love seeing garden transformations. You two are “doing it up.”
I know you love lounging in your garden bc ever since I transformed mine, it’s my favorite “room” of my house.
First time watching and Im guessing youre a teacher or biologist. I started off landscaping, eventually went into lawncare and as I got more into plants Ive realized that the lawncare industry for a lack of better words really sucks. Currently reworking my garden to encourage pollinators, butterflies, and planting things I can eat. I love watching people that you can tell are passionate about something. Thank you!
Ditto
most beautiful I love bumblebees
You both work so hard and it has paid off with a gorgeous garden
Thanks so much Kathy! We are so fulfilled with how it's turning out.
Having clearly sunny open space makes so much difference with these flowering plants. I swear that planting by the drip zone of trees just takes away a significant fraction of the plants potential growth. I think I have that same Heliopsis and I swear that it is one of the toughest ornamentals that can take less than ideal conditions and competition and still show well and return reliably. I've found echinacea to be more finicky.
Interesting! But yeah, all of our echinacea is bathed in sun-not much in shade. We have a HUGE showing of Echinacea in the meadow this year, but we've hit month 31 since seeding and supposedly takes 3 years go really get going after seeding. And I only got one little Heliopsis and I too was shocked how big it's gotten. Nice early blooms too. I felt like our Phlox was a little less impressive this year though. It'll be interesting to see whether they get pushed out by the other more aggressive plants. I'm sure your gardens are looking great though Siloe!
I'm jealous of your chipmunks. What a joy to walk in the garden and have such a sweet creature following you around. Ah then they are allowed to be naughty in the garden sometimes right?😉 Very informative video once again.
I LOVE the chippies. I sent a picture to my mother though and she mistook it for a squirrel because she says they are "so large"... haha. I may be feeding them too well ;)
I am short on words to appreciate these generous classes in botany you are providing for me. Thanks
So thrilled you find this style of planting and gardening useful.

Sander is living the dream. Wow.
Everything is so beautiful 🤩 I admire you so much-you inspire me! Working on expanding my naturalized Midwest home gardens!🌸🌼🌿
Most fantastic! The Midwest has some excellent growers of native plants, so do hope you utilize those resources where you are!
the drone shot with the before and after is absolutely incredible. I've been following this channel since the beginning and watching you guys tear out the old nursery poly and hoses makes the transformation so much more impressive.
Beautiful rainy morning here in Maine with lots blooming too!
I also encourage wildlife..my yard is bursting with all life.
So much satisfaction!
I love that you share your garden with the critters 🐿️ ❤
They're my buddies (or at least I tell myself that).
Love these garden tours! I'm planting a wild field garden in Ulster County, NY and I'm over here taking notes and comparing local natives like 👀✍🏻👀✍🏻👀
Fantastic! Be sure to visit Hortus there if you haven't. They are a great resource. (And if you haven't seen the tour on our channel, you can find it here czcams.com/video/vh8biKgTWB4/video.htmlsi=-ryntyNsUHLsXpJl and here: czcams.com/video/FTdkP8-LSFY/video.htmlsi=D6yh0NecR456eHIK
Thank you 😊
You’re so inspiring😊
Beautiful garden!
Thanks
special thanks for this donation. :)
아름답게 관리된 허브 정원이 정말 아름답습니다. 다음 영상도 기대됩니다.
just beautiful,,,,,Thank You Summer
Thank you Ms. Summer and Sander. 🌺💚🙃
I never know to pronounce the latin names of the plants so thanks for saying them all so clearly!
You're welcome, though I get them wrong sometimes and can't always recall them.
BEAUTIFUL! And I'm glad they are not always weedless -- it would be too much for people in real life
So beautiful ❤️
Love how you embrace nature (wild life) and make yourself part of it.
Tranquil serenity! ❤
Truly...
You two are a great team and have created something beautiful.
Thank you so much for saying so. That means a lot.
Seeing the montage that showed all the work you did on these gardens was quite cool! You can be really proud of all the work you did! The results are absolutely great!
Que lindo, seus vídeos é nota 1. 000, Brasil
Lovely garden walk, enjoyed the video.
Thank you Charles. Always nice to get your missives of appreciation.
Extraordimay beautiful! 💚
I don't mind the chipmunks except that they have decimated my strawberries. I think I have figured out how they are getting into my tall raised beds, so maybe they will get a reprieve from stronger measures. I grow some patches that are unprotected so we do share. I enjoy seeing the native plants that you are growing as I am in the Hudson Valley, Zone 7 so not as cold but we share a lot of the flora (and fauna). My ground hogs leave most of the garden alone as long as there is plenty of clover in the lawn -- that seems to be their preferred food.
The groundhogs definitely seem to eat the clover. It baffles me that they can put on that much weight by "mowing the lawn" so to speak. But yeah, Hudson Valley-we definitely share a lot of the same flora and fauna. Welcome to the channel!
A lot of hard work but so rewarding 💚💚💚
It's been so fulfilling for us.
You ae such kind people. Thank you.
So happy i came across your channel. I wish I had your space, however i garden the same as you. I love all the bees & butterflies. All my different kinds of monarda has gone all over my garden(new volunteers) i have tons of coneflowers, liatris I have the same purple ones as well as white one(theyre smaller) Both spread but my neighbours love it. Alliums are fantastic too. Your garden is beautiful. Good to see more gardener's like you. Love having a pollinators garden.
Cheers from Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 zone 5b
Doing great work
Thank you!
Such a great tour! Would love an ep focused on nesting environments for these precious native bees!
Great suggestion!
Greatness freshness fairness ..
Such an enjoyable tour! I always learn so much from you.
Thank you so much; glad it's enriching for you.
My style of gardening..
Glad you resonate with the more naturalistic style of planting.
Thanks Summer!
wow! looks great🪴🌼
Thank you. We think it's really shaping up. Love seeing all the growth.
18 species of bees in two hours is very impressive
Yes! I can't wait to hear more about this. Such an exciting development
I have no reference point really, so I'm glad that may be the case. I'll try to take some video in the meantime when he's not here and then maybe he can ID the ones that I record too. There were a couple new species that I saw myself when I was doing some recording.
Truly exciting. It's funny that this is the stuff that I too get most excited about.
Amazing transformation!
Slowly but surely! Thank you...
Stunning. We share many of the same natives, we are in Ontario!
Marvelous! Glad this translates well to where you live and hope you can apply what you may be learning.
Thanks!
Thank you! very generous!
I love my chipmunks too!!
All this beautiful nature for the
Just lovely! Where can I purchase a hat like yours?
Love your gardens and videos! I've been following since the beginning. I did want to mention that I planted obedient plant in one of my pollinator gardens a few years ago and it started spreading by rhizomes quite aggressively! You might want to keep an eye on that!
Maybe we should call it the "disobedient plant" instead!
@@FlockFingerLakes 🤣😂 Fun fact - did you know this plant got it's name because you can bend the stem below the flower and it will "obediently" stay in place? I've tried it and it actually works!
Are you all living out there full time now? Or do you still also live in your Brooklyn apartment? I always think it is so peaceful and beautiful there, it would probably be hard to leave and be back in the city.
Ohh, everything is done so well. I follow you since the first day, You talk about things that move in, but they seem to be okay. In my place, plants move in which are not okay, like aggressive wild millets suffocating everything.
So jealous, my family is from Ithaca and had a cottage on Cayuga growing up. My parents met at Cornell. D3 (extreme drought) for the 2nd summer in a row here in the most northern tip of VA. I have over an acre of wildflower meadow with no blooms, its gonna need reseeding again next year. I am able to water some of my fruit trees and berries to keep them alive but my well hates me.
I'm in the Shenandoah Valley in severe drought. I'm tired of watering. Heliopsis, echinacea, gaillardia and black-eyed Susans are doing well
@@SMElder-iy6fl I watch the storms on radar go right around my home in Stephenson VA everyday. I think it has to do with the mountain ranges/shen valley pushing everything right above us although I’m no meteorologist.
First year we got here we went through an extreme drought, so I know the feeling. Hopefully next year or two will be rainier for you.
Someone asked the other day whether these gardens are watered and I haven't watered them at all this year. Only that first year when they were establishing, which is what I think is great about this kind of planting-pretty resilient.....
When you began planting in October where did you acquire some of the seedlings from? Do you start from seed?
Love your video and also love your pants. May I know where u buy it?
Where are your pants from? Your landscape is just heavenly! 🌞
Linen pants from Toast!
Beautiful! How do you keep your evening primrose in check? They can take over an area, but I love the profuse blooms they give. I grew them when I lived in AZ and now growing them in IL they still give lots of color.
At the moment they just weave themselves through the garden. The gardens are so densely planted with so many plants, I think it's the other plants that keep them in check.
💗
😍
Hi, I would like to have the name of the spike flower at 5:34 "picnostachia"?? Thanks
Liatris pycnostachya.
For Liatris Blazing Star (which we have as well), is it pronounced LIE-A-TRIS or LEE-AT-TRIS?
LIE-a-TRIS
Will you leave seedheads standing for the winter?
Yes, we typically do; unless it's a plant that overseeds itself, like the fennel. I'll be collecting those seeds instead this year and putting into my medicine cabinet instead!
Wonder how many ticks for the people taking the tour ....
Hopefully none if they stick to the mowed paths!
I may have missed it but how is Sander doing ? I believe he was sick with Lymes disease ? I hope he is much recovered but I do know that it can take a long time. 🌺💚🙃
We've been meaning to do an update, but he's going to be sending his bloodwork out for another follow-up test and will probably officially do an update after that. For the most part, he is doing well, thank goodness.
What is your workout regimen?
Gardening and walking a lot on the land. But really it's just long-term reduction of free sugars that makes a huge difference.
No worries about mint invading the whole garden? Or do they hold each other at bey?
I planted the mint without fear of it hopping over to the next gardens due to the stone pathways, but the P. verticillatum var. villosum has proven to be a prolific seeder, so it appears as if I'll need to do some transplanting of that. What that tells me though is that it would be perfect in the meadows and bank plantings where it can run more rampant!
Young Robert Taylor Melissa Lee Jose
What is your mother sitting on to weed?
I'll have to ask her. It's like one of those collapsible camping cups-except it's a seat. I bet if you look for "collapsable camping seat" or something like that, it'll pop up.
Once again, blowing us all away with the vocabulary. Tincture! Like what???
Ungangly! What? you ran out of all the words in the English languages and have to make up more!? I can't keep up.
Ugh, KEMPT. That word isn't even in my computer dictionary, that's how advanced it is.
Peace Sander and SRO. What a great transformation you have done with the property. Truly wonderful. I can see myself having many lazy moments after work and training in a place like this.
