My helper who was a Nepali girl became a widow and soon taking advantage of her vulnerability a certain community converted her ensuring convent education to her children and some rice bags. The moment I discovered her position before we as a community could help her she was taken away from our community. I did not keep her in my house any longer though.

As a Indian Gorkha all I want to say is offcourse me Buddhism started from Nepal but most of the Buddhist don't feel that they're apart from Sanatanis they follow our culture they worship our Gods and respect our religion unlike the invaders (Muslims and Christians).
I live in Tawang Arunachal Pradesh Tawang where 99.99% people are Buddhist but they believe in Sanatan Sanskriti.

Buddha was born in Sanatani Vedic family, in the city of Kapilavastu, which was in the area of Ancient Magadh and near Kosal, which was a part of today's Terai region. Sitamata was also from the nearby Terai region. Since this part of Terai was captured recently, few centuries ago by King of Kathmandu Valley, so now this part of Terai is in the Nepal.

I remember visiting Ayodhya many years back. Had tears in my eyes seeing the heavily barricaded janambhoomi area and idols in a make shift tent. Even folk tales in North India are full of courageous stories of our ancestors who laid their lives trying to protect their beloved idols, or risked their lives overnight transporting idols in the midst of brutal attacks. Today souls of those ancestors will also find peace.
