- Hello folks
In an unexpected turn of events, I stumbled upon an old Elcon fan that had met an unfortunate fate in a dumpster. Abandoned and devoured by rats, it appeared to be a lost cause at first glance. However, intrigued by the potential hidden beneath the grime and damage, I decided to take on the challenge of restoring this relic to its former glory.
Undeterred by the daunting task ahead, I began by meticulously cleaning the fan, removing layers of dirt and rat-inflicted damage. With each stroke of the brush, the fan's true features started to emerge, hinting at the beauty it once possessed.
After carefully disassembling the fan, I realized that rust had taken its toll on the metal components. To rectify this, I opted for a sandblasting technique, which gently stripped away the corrosion, leaving behind a clean and smooth surface ready for rejuvenation. Witnessing the transformation unfold as the rust faded away brought a sense of hope and renewed motivation to my restoration endeavor.
With the fan now free from rust and grime, the next step was to protect its exterior from future deterioration. I decided to give it a fresh lease on life through a process known as powder coating. This involved applying a fine powdered pigment to the fan's surface, which would then be baked onto the metal, forming a durable and vibrant coating.
As I watched the fan being immersed in the powder coat booth, the once-forgotten Elcon fan was being revived right before my eyes. Once the powder settled onto the surface, it was time for the fan to enter the oven, where heat would fuse the particles together, resulting in a resilient and stunning finish.
When the fan emerged from the oven, I was awestruck by its transformation. The dull, battered object that I had discovered in the dumpster had now been reborn into a radiant piece of vintage art. Its natural beauty had been resurrected, captivating both the eye and the imagination.
With the final step of reassembling the fan, I experienced a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. The resurrected Elcon fan stood proudly, breathing life into a forgotten era. A testament to the power of restoration and the value of preserving history, this fan now held a special place in my heart, reminding me of the potential beauty that can be found even in the most unlikely of places.

Very nice restoration. There's just something about the way those old fans sound and look that is soothing.

Awesome job Weldon
An excellent restoration of a vintage fan! Definitely a labour of love, given all the manual labour involved. 👍🇨🇦

Fantastic done brother.
This is a great restoration video. Excellent job! This is back in the day when they made stuff that was supposed to last forever. Unlike today where they make things to just last a year or two so that you can go and rebuy it every couple years. You can definitely see the CRAFTSMANSHIP in this.
Brilliant restore and filming , WiFi addition brilliant , great to bring something back from the graveyard like this !!!! You are a restoration god .

Restoration videos are capable of evoking feelings of nostalgia. They remind us of the craftsmanship and attention to detail in the past 👍👍👍
I can remember a time before there were zip ties. Technicians had to secure or bundle wires together or in place with twine... Seeing you cut the strings brought back those memories. We had to learn special knots & how to bundle long runs of wires. It was somewhat like doing macrame. Times have certainly changed.
Love your work, mixed the artist and the scientist in the fan.
