  • 1 in every 100 species is in the family Araceae.
It is a family that is easy to identify, and it is very common in homes, offices and gardens, but despite this most people will not have heard about this family. Given the fact that there are so common it is surprising that they are also very toxic.
We have lots of online courses helping you to identify, grow and care for plants.

I love aroids! if you don’t mind me asking, where did you get the statistic that 1/100 plants is an aroid, that’s fascinating!

We did the video a while back - but based it on reference books we have gathered over decades including a book from Timber Press on Aroids - published decades ago, plus standard taxonomic references from various universities including Cambridge, Cornell and Melbourne.
      Hope that helps! 😊

There is a mistake detected. Eichhornia crassipes is not an Aracea but a Pontederiacea. It should be excluded. Perhaps it was confused with Pistia stratiotes which represents a floating araceous species.

Therefore, it should be excluded from the educational video.
