  • King's "Drum Major Instinct" sermon, given on 4 February 1968, was an adaptation of the 1952 homily ''Drum-Major Instincts'' by J. Wallace Hamilton.
King encouraged his congregation to seek greatness, but to do so through service and love. King concluded the sermon by imagining his own funeral, downplaying his famous achievements and emphasizing his heart to do right.

Thank you for sharing. The Drum Major Instinct is an incredibly important dissertation and should be taught in all of our schools. How applicable it is today amongst the worst Drum Major Instinct personality of Donald Trump. Martin Luther King was intelligent on all levels and stayed on top of our newest discoveries in all sciences and would incorporate them into his speeches. Every word, sentence, in his dissertations is genuine and meaningful in value which one can feel. His dignity and integrity is unmatched in my opinion. Every Martin Luther King Jr. day, we should all march peacefully in the largest numbers to demonstrate our respect and appreciation for one of the greatest men in this country's history, and remember, that if he had still been alive, that this country would have made substantially more progress than it has to this day, on a variety of levels.

This will never be taught in any American institution as it’s bathed in beautiful religious thoughts and all academics and elites are sickened by Christ and by acknowledgment and worship of the one true god. They claim separating church and state means separating Christ from school and public life entirely. Even Obama who I’m sure is a supposed mlk fan has openly made fun of Christianity and holding strong religious beliefs. Remember when he said “all they care about is their god and their guns”. Funny that’s the only two things that keep the federal government from handing us over completely to globalization for their own personal profit. What would mr. king think of him and of the majority of us for turning our back on Christ for “modernity” to replace true religion with a religious fervor for science that will ultimately destroy us all. Because without the love of god they will never guide their sciences into curing great illness or stopping great famines but instead producing machines to replace us all and “vaccines” you will be forced to buy quarterly that don’t work to profit from us all.

20:34-20:39 the video cuts.. very weird if you ask me, so here's the part we missed:
"Now the other thing is, that it leads to tragic- and we've seen it happen so often- tragic race prejudice. Many who have written about this problem, Lillian Smith, used to say it beautifully in some of her books, And she would say it to the point of getting men and women to see the source of the problem. Do you know that a lot of the race problem grows out of the drum major instinct? A need that some people have to feel superior. A need that some people have to feel that they are first, and to feel that their white skin ordained them to be first. (Make it plain, today, 'cause I'm against it) And they have said over and over again in ways that we see with our own eyes."
    Video cuts back in:
"In fact, not too long ago, a man in Mississippi said that God was a charter member of the Whites Citizens council. And so God being the charter member means that everybody who's in that has a kind of divinity, a kind of superiority. And think of what has happened in history as a result of this perverted use of the drum major instinct. It has led to the most tragic prejudice, the most tragic expressions of man's inhumanity to man."

I love his sermon; I only like his speeches. The lord's messages are more than inspiring- they're informative. This sermon sheds light on how we all are just servants. All just trying- I here mlk saying he failed. And feel he's angry about it. I too uplift God with no wavery, but to drink of the lord's cup I have no desire. Baptized (yes). The work of having a truly graceful heart that is something I've been forced to put on the back burner. To hear how people retort about the almighty God it makes me not want to even give conversation much less advice. Who to help? I know I've been helped, but I give God the glory. Why should I help those that only cheer on the drum major. Why should I help those who only want to accept help so they can get material things to represent they're doing better? The ones I plan to help in 2024 are those on deaths doorstep, and those seeking truth of the words of the Lord. The Lord was saying we are all just servants. those who you think are so great have Them to serve you by serving them. The Lord was truly here to give the message. And that's God bless us best by allowing us to go through pains. Like I said I can hear mlks anger and I'm tired of the pains that come with trying to uplift a people instead of preparing spirits. If you read this: enjoy (Icecold Glacier) as a entertainer because the days of advising people on how to enjoy the love of God are coming to an end for me. 😢 Appreciate my 70 years of fame.😢😢😢 #Godgaveusallthis😊
