That description of the Cape Dory 18 on trailer...you missed the part where you have to install the mast and rigging before you launch, then take it back down before you load. It sucks even when you've got a process!

Hey there! We have our 1991 Bristol Channel Cutter 28 going in the same day as you. I learned to sail on my Dad's Cape Dory Typhoon weekender out of Round Pond. We moor our boat in Pemaquid Harbor. I really favor boats that don't get hung up on pot warp, so fin keels and spade rudders would not make my list. For beginners in Maine an aft hung rudder on a full keel is safe and comfortable. The big thing I remember about the Cape Dory 25 was no stand headroom. The 6'2" headroom in the main cabin on the 28" Triton is rather nice. You have a great channel! Thanks for educating boat buyers in the area.
Hi Rob! Thanks for watching! Boy, those Bristol Channel Cutters are beauties. Congrats! We just learned the the boom truck that steps our mast is down for the count - so we've scrambled to find alternative. Luckily Lyman-Morse can step us 6/7. They saved the day... Agree on the keel situation which is precisely why we liked the Morgan 382 so much - the prop is protected. A little peace of mind in a sea of lobster pots!
