Hey Tom, I grew up in Bushwick, Brooklyn, zip code 11237. European immigrants called it Wyckoff Heights, like the hospital. I later worked in Bushwick and Williamsburgh. "East Williamsburgh" is complete real estate fictitious to rent and sell property to distance from the Bushwick stigma!
Back in the 70s when I used to live in Knickerbocker
One Of The Best Places In Brooklyn.
Tom I love it when you say the things that kids these days say. It’s so funny because you & Phil don’t have a clue hahaha.
Tom your channel is Rizz
I'm a Knickerbocker! My ancestor was a Van Valkenburg! I have a copy of the Castillo plan and it shows where he lived!
My family is from Puerto Rico, my mom moved to Brooklyn at age 3, I grew up between Grand and Bushwick (East Williamsburg/Bushwick area), but currently been living in Chelsea co-op since 1989. My 87 year old mom moved into senior housing between Ellery Street & B'way 4 years ago and my sister moved into a co-op between Garden & Bushwick almost 13 years ago. I'm lucky I get to visit them and walk thru the old hood checking out the cool streets & sometimes eat at some of those awesome restaurants. The area has changed and developed so much since I was a kid. I'm lucky I get to go back to visit my family who is still there. Not happy Roberta sold their soul to Tish but whatever, I guess that explains the more polished looking Roberta's in the Domino Park section of North Williamsburg, really hope the original Roberta's never goes away. Anyway, just want to say thank you for doing this tour of Bushwick, I learned a lot of history about the neighborhood in which I grew up in.
So your near Eastern District HS. I used to hang by the bleachers and blaze mad Ls back in the days. Is that little motel still up the block? Lol
@@LI-fh1it yup that trashy hotel is still there but it's kind of surrounded by new hipster condos
@@elenapalau2964 lol. That whole area has changed. I miss the old Bushwick. I haven't been up there in 20 yrs. Thanks.
@@LI-fh1it me too but the new Williamsburg is a sight to see. I'm lucky my sister lives in a condo in East Williamsburg that way I get to see all the new developments and gentrification when I visit her. Visit, you'd be shocked especially of the prices of things these days in that neighborhood.
Bushwick east Williamsburg controversy still continues! To this day. 😂
N.Y.C changed so much. I ❤ my city.
Thanks Tom, really appreciate you, your time, knowledge, and dedication.
Agreed!!
Good tour! I live in one of the many "flatiron buildings" in Bushwick. The intersections just start to lean, diagonally and criss-cross...anyway you end up with a bunch of buildings that occupy an entire "block" but arent very big, in the shape of triangle or flatiron. I had No idea Mother Pigeon lived in Bushwick! I bought one of her pigeons probably 6-7 yrs ago on Kent Ave. Williamsburg.
😀😀Bushwick is Big Tom. You didn't cover the other side of Knickerbocker Avenue near Schaefer Street area and along Bushwick High School. But a nice tour Tom..You really missed alot of the area, but you tried!!! Ralph J.
Hi Tom and Phil thanks for the fun walk with you two 🚶🏻🚶🏻♂️✌️🙏😍
Never tired of Tom
Hey great video. My oldest sister lived over near the park when I was a kid. Brought back memories.
Sick tour bro! This one was especially great. Bushwicl has so much going on and you managed to mention quite a bit of it. You even featured the House of YES 3.0! The 2.0 location was where I met my wife! Good times! Thanks fpr yhe awesome info!
I'm glad you talked about Maria Hernandez park. Forty years ago it was so bad the police put a mobile command post inside and someone blew it up. While it's great when a neighborhood gets new investment and safer streets the newcomers should respect the people already living there.
And, does and will the current population respect any new demographics?
I doubt it since they don't respect themselves.
The amount of juvenile graffiti, high crime rate, trash, etc. that has been been going on for decades and decades speaks volumes that they have given up on themselves.
Sick plug
Thank you so much for your good work. I miss New York so much and it is a pleasure to be guided by you.
Thinking about it tbh Tom would be a good correspondent on the Daily Show because these videos with the interviews and editing are starting to have that vibe, good stuff
The only channel of its kind I respect. Comes with real history and knows this city inside and out. Just subbed.
Former crew member from the 80’s in Bushwick I went to PS123 and JHS162 ..it looks better now the park MH was called back then knickerbocker park it u couldn’t walk through there at night lots of crack valves and needles.i left Bushwick in 89 back then it was the Devil playground.God bless
Here we go! This will be top quality as always. Good to see you reach 20k too Tom. Well deserved
absolutely 'top quality' and 'well deserved' 👍
Absolutely well deserved and about time🖖🏾💯
Hi.good job.I worked in P.S.086K on Irving Ave in 1986.It was a historic school built about 1864.
LMAOOOOOOOO something told me you was going to mention the gentrification going on in Brooklyn‼️Seeing the Mother Pigeon’s workshop and hearing her story was intriguing👏🏾😌
14:34 Tom I didn't think you were going to get out of that pigeon hole alive!
action kid i'm pretty sure u blocked me on one of your live streams! i love ur videos! their fun to watch!
@@langstonreese7077 Yea not sure why i was blocked also, still couldn't donate $25, was a regular viewer.
The best tour guide!😀
Thanks Tom and Phil!
Lots of talent
The pigeon lady is cool, Tom you the man
You Always post a quality video I can learn something from. Thank you
Man I have to say I really enjoyed this video. Out of all the nyc neighborhood guide videos I've seen, yours really show what it's actually like, good and bad. Well done!
"Let's just fix it in post", I wish that would work for dates, life would be a lot easier... Aside from that, sick video, Bushwick is just a really interesting place to experience. Great video, as always. Cheers!
Love your new pigeon look! Hilarious, Hahaa. That was so interesting. Love to see those neighborhoods!
apparently, the geographical center of all of nyc is in Bushwick, Stockholm st Nicholas to wykoff
Great job Tom and Phil! Thanks for this amazing video.
You feel like a friend - thank you x
Hey @Tomdnyc, you are actually very underrated (not really sure why). Keep doing what you're doing. Lots of history, interesting facts, it's great watching you. Hope you will get the recognition you deserve one day.
Thank you for this, my family lived in Bushwick (Irving Ave) until1963. Your right about the ethic mix , Italians (Pastry shops) Germans (Delicatessens) Puerto Ricans. I used to go back over the years and check it out still a very nice neighbor hood.
Great work Phil and Tom!
Flushing was Vlisselingen !!!
Your tour, unlike others, is fun and educational!
Your channel is getting more subscribers and more views, just like mine!
i miss brooklyn
Good interview. Like you say, the people make the neighborhood! Cool street art and keep working on your Rip Van Winkle beard. Another 19 years to go.
Getting better and better man. How about Crown Heights? Gloria’s, Triple D’s, Joe & Sal’s, Tom’s Diner, Brooklyn Library, Botanical Gardens, Brooklyn Museum. Caribbean!
I forgot to tell you in a previous video that if you go make a video tour of The Bronx Zoo , the admission is free on Wednesdays!👍🏼 I love your videos 🥰 I’m still binge watching them😉
Hi Tom . I know the L Train very well. My friend from Brooklyn llived in Canarsie so I took it to go into Manhattan.so I recognize the names on the streets from the subway stops. Sadly I saw the area go bad and eventually my friend sold the house and moved to Pompano Beach. You could do a video on it but I];ve heard the area has gotten rather bad.
Definitely will have to visit this area next time I am in NYC. Love the pigeon lady. Super cool living her dream
I'm from bushwick born and raised. All the good stores and restaurants are gone. I'm surprised the pizza restaurant on dekalb and knickerbocker Ave is still there , I know the owners and their children.
love your video :)
I’m actually moving to the area.. my job is off Maspeth Ave
Thank you for the tour
A college pal, Arman Matin, lives in Bushwick.
He directs commercials.
Cool video! We’re in Los Angeles and can’t wait to visit NYC again! We were there in 2019.....these videos really make us look forward to exploring neighborhoods we couldn’t find on our own! Thanks for doing what you do.

Sweet art.
Another awesome tour. My life almost feels complete now.
Tom,
I want one of those art pigeons. How do I get a hold of her to get one?
They don’t seem like people who have computers and definitely not a website.
I live in Tamp Fl, so my chances of getting over to Bushwick are slim.
Love your videos!!!
Thnx! Greetings from Sweden
Another great and very informative walk . I really appreciate all you do in such a short time Thank You..
Love your vids and you. You need to make more. They are so interesting and informative. I love your personality.
Geweldig!
Great stuff bro. It amazes NYrs even. U live there so long, learn NADA. Growing up 49th st BK--80's & 1990's was another world. And nobody slept, or ever left the borough. Never needed to! So other boroughs, u pass threw seeing fam, but that's it. Back to your block. I live upstate now. But seeing this w/ the history is exclusive. Palant'e por tu suenos!
Love the Gem Spa hat
Boswijck was the Dutch name !!!!
wow, love the Cypprus mural of a big-eared Alfred E. Neuman lookalike (@17:01), :).
So nice to see you reach your 20 K marker Tom. 🍻👍🏻😉
Great videos! Here's to you getting more views - might be helpful to add the name "Bushwick" to the video's title so more people acn find these great videos! Can't wait to visit NYC again when I have the chance. All the best!
*can
After listening to you, I feel so....well inforned, and intelligent too😄😊😉
Hey my Brother, if you're not doing live streaming, you should be doing them!!! Love your videos! God Bless!!!
I watched this yesterday then it vanished? Has it been edited TD ? The street art is absolutely amazing.
Time for my NYC tour! Thanks, Tom and Phil for taking us around!
Hi Tom. I love your videos. Please, show for us the story of Rockefeller Center, designed by Raymond Hood, the great architect of the skyscrapers.
Hola Tomás, estamos esperando los subtítulos en español :) , muy buenos videos!!!
Tom played a bird brain well. How about a walk down Coney Island Ave. I lived there when I was a small child. Great tour
I lived here for about 2 years in the “gentrified” area. It’s pretty cool, food is great! Top quality places. Too bad I’m leaving NY but houses out here cost more than 1.2 million.
25:24 lol that was certainly pretty good actually 👌😄😅
As ever, thank you.
Hola me gustan tus vídeos pero me gustaría que hicieras alguno en español un saludo desde Barcelona
OMG as the bambinos would say
Can u do Harlem? 🙏 Great stuff
This is our area
you so fucking smart! these vids are the best! Thank you
20K TOM!!!!! I loved the art collective. You made my day with the new fashion accessories! Pigeon is so hot right now.
Hola Tom! Love your Spanish speaking! You are a goof, in a good way😉
