From rural southern utah usa momma. It's 115 f where I work today. I'll take any and all gardening advice. Your permaculture principles could help our whole area from fire danger. Appreciate you spreading your knowledge.

Now I understand how a snow fence works. I need to figure out the distance the fences need to be away from my driveway😊

Thank you for explaining this. As I am trying to apply permaculture principles in our generous urban backyard, everything I do happens in boundary conditions. I just wish we didn't need all the walls on property boundaries.

Walls? More like bonus edges! I know there are obvious drawbacks to being separated from people, but there are also opportunities (with their own pros and cons) for-
Microclimates, wind breaks, structure for climbing plants or hanging planters potentially… It’s dependent on your unique situation, but that is also what gives you the opportunity to do something nobody else could because of different situations. You are infinitely unique in the same way with your life experiences- which is why me telling you how you should look at your situation is hypocritica 🤔 you do you!

@@kenyon2598 you are so right. Problems are opportunities to look at and do differently.

The edge effect is why coastal cities and savannas typically do much better resilience-wise than inland grasslands, for example.
Allelopathic is word he is using, and it means a plant that exudes chemicals that discourage other (types of) plants.
