The reason why kid Trunks is mean in this timeline is because he was raised by Vegeta who’s arrogant, whereas Future Trunks grew up not knowing his father and Gohan was his father figure, a much more reserved and polite kind of guy.

I think it's more like because he's acting like a typical "rich kid" (even if he's a good kid deep down). He especially like to flaunt before Goten, showing him all his toys and exagerating what he did to impress him (as he's a little older). But yeah Vegeta played a part too.
Trunks had an easy life since birth, so it made him a little haughty. Nothing very bad though.
I love How Vegeta Said' '' I'm Not a Fighter and I will Never Fight again '' Even though that was the Biggest lie in DBZ History. Lol
If it wasn't for Goku returning he might have kept it. Beating Goku is the only thing that motivates Vegeta

I think Toriyama only wrote that line intending Cell Saga to be the end of Z and later changed his mind after realizing the story is harder to maintain w Gohan as the MC

The "coming back for one day" was already established in the original Dragon Ball and was used by Goku's grandpa to meet Goku again. It's nice that Toriyama remembered about it and used it again to bring back Goku for a day, it adds to the continuity of the whole saga.
A couple of fun little facts.
Goku Coming back for a day. Fortune teller bubba has the ability to bring people back to earth for one day, she did the same with Grandpa Gohan, and two more fighters later on I won't spoil who.
Also the guy making the Great Saiyaman film in this episode is basically commander Red, the former leader of the Red Ribbon army.

Chichi really isn't as bad as people think she is. Just like Goku she has her flaws, but both Gohan and Goten love her deeply.
She just wanted her sons to be normal but what she never seemed to grasp is they were needed, if Gohan would of never went to Namek the crew that did go would of definetly all died, the Earth would of been destroyed if he didnt kill Cell, Goten on the other hand has his feats not as big as Gohan's but still.
@@GoofyPoptart In next DBS manga Goten & Trunks are the main protagonist so something big is happening with Goten.
Goten can easily love her, she was very soft with him, far more permissive than with Gohan (parents are generally more strict with the first child, and also he was all that Goku left her before dying). Gohan had to face the full might of the asian parent that was Chichi, honestly he's a (very) good kid so yeah he loves her but another one in the same situation could have easily held a grudge against her.

@@kleatise52 I was obviously talking about making him study days and nights as a kid and not letting him play of course. You might want to rewatch the beginning of the show, as you clearly forgot a lot. The point of Chichi (adult) as a character was to be a caricature of the strict Asian mother. Goten on the other hand, never had problems to go play outside.
Gohan describing how their father is like an angel is so beautifully accurate. But hearing this in retrospect after the events of DB Super; it makes the concept of Angels & God of Destructions so much more intriguing now. Especially considering how Goku and Vegeta's characters have evolved as they each took separate tutorships from Beerus & Whis.
Under their tutelage, Goku & Vegeta gained the opportunity to reflect upon how they've lived & acted as individuals, and really understand how to forge their own path moving forward. The angel like beings who preserve life, and the destroyers who destroy in order to preserve.
It's interesting how this Yin-Yang philosophy got expanded upon. Before all of this, the dynamic and relationship between Goku & Vegeta was just a plain old rivalry due to their Saiyan heritage. Now after all these years it can make you stop and think for a moment how deeply layered the story telling really is, despite the show not taking itself that seriously most of the time.
Since DBZ is ultimately inspired by the story of Sun Wu Kong and Journey to The West, which was all about finding the righteous path towards inner peace; I think it's fair to say that Goku always had plenty of inner peace ever since he was a kid.
It's freaking crazy to think how a guy can be so chill about being dead for 7 years right?!
Also it alludes to the Japanese ending song for this saga. One of my fav songs from dbz

The Buu Saga is the funniest DBZ Saga to me. It reminded me of the humor from the Dragonball series when Goku was a kid.
Yeah it was going back to that tone, but it feels off considering how serious the Cell Saga was.

What’s great about Baba letting Goku come back for a day for a tournament, is that it mirrors OG Dragon Ball when she did the same for grandpa Gohan. That was the first time in the show that we seen him and Goku interact, just like this will be the first time we see Goku and Goten interact
The funny thing about the director and his assistant are that they look very much like the Red Ribbon Army leaders. Consider them as a fun cameos from Dragon Ball.

Krillin's name is a Japanese's reference or pun to a chestnut. Maron's name is also a chestnut. If I recall correctly the filler writers who created the Maron girlfriend came up with that idea to connect Krillin and Maron together but seperately Akira Toriyama also came up with that idea to use Marron to connect Krillin and his daughter. So technically the ex girlfriend Marron doesnt exist and therefore Krillin's daughter was never named after her lol. (Tho I think DB Super muddied those waters recently lol). They're also differentiated by spelling Krillin's Ex girlfriend's name as "Maron" and Krillin's daughter's name as "Marron"
I really enjoyed u guys reaction to this episode I find it funny how the film directors looked like the red ribbon army commanders they were making a movie about Gohan in my opinion thats foreshadowing for the latest super hero movie 🤫 also I love how Gohan breaks the 4th wall to comment on krillin growing out his hair lol lastly I find it so amazing that Madison says certain things that happen later on in the show for example when Gohan went ssj in front of goten she said "what if goten just did it?" Fortune Teller Baba is a witch that can travel from the afterlife and the living world. She has a lot of magical powers and can do a lot more than just project images on other crystal ball. She also has the special power to bring people who are dead back for 1 day. *(That's the limit of her powers, after that she can never bring you back.)* Baba was grateful that Goku saved the world, and thought "well since you saved the world I'll bring you back for a day."
She's brought back many other characters from the dead. Both good and evil.
She's a millionaire for a reason. You either have to pay a crazy amount of money for her to reveal your fortune. *(Unless you're good friends with her)* or you have to fight warriors she's brought back from the afterlife. If you do any of the two, she will give you your fortune.
Also again being good or evil doesn't matter. That's how she was able to bring back Vegeta for 1 day despite the terrible atrocities he's done. She's also brought Grandpa Gohan for 1 day in the original Dragonball.
Also *(Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler)* ..... She was also able to bring back Frieza in Dragonball Super.

Despite being called an Android (cyborg is a more fitting term and I think it’s used in the manga) 17 and 18 are humans who where enhanced at the cellular level so 18 is still very much capable of having a child
To Madison: Goku's adopted father Gohan(who Goku named his son after) was able to come back for one day back in DragonBall. Baba(the witch on the crystal ball) has that ability.

I love how Goku could have communicated with his family or visited them at any time but only choose to just to come back and fight in the tournament. Not too see or talk to his son he hasn’t seen in years, not to see his other son, or even see or talk to his wife. The one time in many years he choose to communicate with them or see them was all just so he can fight in this tournament. Lol damn Goku in this saga is being the real Dad of the year here lol.

Perhaps I shouldn't post this, but I found a song for which I had a powerful and emotional reaction, you can search for it in CZcams with the title "Dragonball GT - No lo ves - Con letra completa", is the ending credits for Dragonball GT in castellian language. It is worthwhile, in both the castellian and gallego dubbings there was already a love song for ending credits, but I didn't have the same reaction to them as I had with the one I mention here (tears were bursting from my eyes)

I think Chi-Chi in most regards is one of the most ideal wife/mother figures a family could ask for. Sure, a little heavy handed at times, but you couldn't ask for a more caring and supportive person to spend your life with. Barely a selfish bone in her body.

The afterlife is interesting in this show just the fact that a dead hero can come back to life for a day. Krillin likes to fight with no hair is kinda weird but it works for him and it's also odd to see him with hair. It's crazy how that works lol. I can't wait to see/hear Madison react to Goten meeting Goku and among other things. I love the new background!

This Trunks has a very different personality from future Trunks because this with this one, Vegeta was always around, so a little bit of his personality was passed to this new Trunks.
While I definitely see Vegeta playing a part in it, I also believe their personalities differ because of the world they were brought up in. Present Trunks has a more snotty attitude, being the rich kid and living the good life. Future Trunks, on the other hand, grew up in a world full of pain and fear, never knowing if this day could be their last. I imagine he was forced to grow up mentally and emotionally faster than most kids.

Vegeta back in Cell saga allowed Cell to be perfect. Goku in Nemek Saga allows Freeza to be full power, now Gohan is getting himself involved. whats funny with these 3 things, Goku, Vegeta and Gohan here is that being a Saiyan its in their DNA to compete.
What I like about main character like Goku and Luffy for example, beside they are incredibly strong, they have a lot of connections from friends, foe that become friends and higher up, insider.. Like this one.. how did he allowed to go to earth for one day ahahah awesome
Here's a fun fact. The entire Grand Kai and Pikon Tournament ark plus all of the DBZ movies and one hour specials was filler made up at around the time when this ark was the brand new one still. It was all made to pass by the time while they translated the whole rest of this entire saga into English all of those movies.
The main reaction I’m waiting for is Majin vegeta, after that in my opinion she will have seen all of dbz’s best and the franchise doesn’t ever get that good again.

@@kleatise52 I never liked Gohan as a character anyway he's treated as a Mcguffin most of the time. He gets plot device powerups throughout the series and never earns most of his power.
Sometimes I wonder which is worse, the Cell arc with its time paradox plotholes or Buu arc with its messy plot.
I mean if you think about it Gohan was a little kind when the Ginyu force was a thing. And they were a big deal to him so it makes sense that when he grew up he would at least take a page from their book
The fact that Baba was there on King Kai's planet implies that Goku just found out that he could come back for a day... It's just coincidence that he happened to be contacting them while they were talking about the tournament!

Now it seems like you accrue 1 day of visitation after every 7 years of being dead. Super* interesting detail there that I'm only just catching now. It's also a nice little detail that foreshadows mysterious characters from the tournament. Toriyama is a mastermind y'all

although there are some similar traits between Kid Trunks and Future Trunks, one of the things that is true is that Gohan is alive in Kid Trunks timeline, there's no loss as in Future Trunks timeline.
